< Isaiah 50 >

1 This is what the Lord says: Where's your mother's divorce certificate I gave her when I sent her away? Which of my creditors did I sell you to? Now look! You were sold because of your sins, and your mother was sent away because of your wrongdoing.
Ko te kupu tenei a Ihowa, Kei hea ianei te pukapuka whakarere o to koutou whaea, i whakarerea ai ia e ahau? Ko wai ranei te tangata, i ahau ana moni, i hokona atu ai koutou e ahau ki a ia? Nana, he kino no koutou i hokona atu ai koutou, na a kout ou mahi whanoke ano i whakarerea ai to koutou whaea.
2 When I came, why wasn't anyone there? When I called, why didn't anyone answer? Is it because I don't have the strength to save you, or the power to rescue you? Can't you see that if I order it, the sea will dry up? I can turn rivers into a desert. Their fish stink because they've died of thirst since there's no water.
Na te aha i taku haerenga mai i kore ai he tangata, he aha i taku karangatanga i kore ai tetahi e oho ake? kua mutua koia toku ringa, te tau ai te araarai? kua kore ranei he kaha moku hei whakaora? Nana, maku, ma taku kupu riri, ka maroke ai te m oana, ka meinga ai nga awa hei koraha: piro ana o ratou ika i te waikore, ka mate hoki i te matewai.
3 I can make the heavens go dark, covering them with sackcloth like they're in mourning.
E whakakakahu ana ahau i nga rangi ki te mangu, uhia iho te taratara hei hipoki mo ratou.
4 The Lord God has given me the ability to teach others, to know how to encourage those who are exhausted with a word. He wakes me up every morning; he helps me listen as a disciple.
5 The Lord God has instructed me, and I haven't been rebellious and I haven't turned away.
Kua oti te whakatuwhera e te Ariki, e Ihowa toku taringa, kihai hoki ahau i tutu, kihai i hoki whakamuri.
6 I offered my back for people to beat me and my cheeks for people to pull my beard. I didn't hide my face from their mocking and spitting.
Tukua atu ana e ahau toku tuara ki nga kaiwhiu, oku paparinga ki nga kaihutihuti; ko toku kanohi kihai i huna kei whakama, kei tuwhaina.
7 The Lord God helps me, so I haven't been disgraced. That's why I'm so determined, setting my face hard as stone, knowing I won't be humiliated.
No te mea ka awhinatia mai ahau e te Ariki, e Ihowa; koia ahau te whakama ai; koia i whakamarotia ai e ahau toku kanohi ano he kiripaka; e mohio ana hoki ahau e kore ahau e whakama.
8 The one who vindicates me is close by, so who will bring charges against me? Let's stand to oppose one another! Come on, anyone who wants to accuse me!
E tata ana te kaiwhakatikatika moku; ko wai hei whawhai ki ahau? kia tu ngatahi taua: ko wai he hoariri moku? kia tata mai ia ki ahau.
9 The Lord God defends me. Who is going to declare me guilty? Look! Those who try will fall apart like old clothing, eaten up by moths.
Nana, ko te Ariki, ko Ihowa, hei awhina moku; ko wai hei whakahe i ahau? Nana, ka tawhitotia katoatia ratou ano he kakahu, ka pau ratou i te purehurehu.
10 Who among you respects the Lord and obeys what his servant says? Who among you walks in darkness and doesn't have light? Let them trust in the Lord and put their confidence in God.
11 Beware all you who start a fire, who pick up blazing torches! Go ahead, walk in the light of your own fire and of the torches you yourselves have set alight! This is what you will receive from me: You are going to lie down in a place of suffering.
Nana, e koutou katoa e tahu na i te ahi, e whitiki na i a koutou ki nga rama muramura; haere i te marama o ta koutou ahi, i nga rama muramura hoki i whakangihaia na e koutou. Tenei ta toku ringa mo koutou, ka takoto iho koutou me te tangi ano.
