< Isaiah 43 >
1 But now this is what the Lord says to Jacob, the one who created you; to Israel, the one who formed you: “Don't be afraid! I have saved you! I have called you by name; you are mine!
Ka ko eni, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻaia naʻa ne ngaohi koe, ʻE Sēkope, pea ko ia naʻe fakafuofua koe, ʻE ʻIsileli, “ʻOua ʻe manavahē: he kuo u huhuʻi koe, kuo u ui koe ʻaki ho hingoa; ʻoku ʻaʻaku koe.
2 When you walk through the water, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they won't flood over you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you on fire.
ʻOka ke ka ʻalu ʻi he vai, te u ʻiate koe; pea ʻi he ngaahi vaitafe, ʻe ʻikai te ke melemo ai: ʻoka ke ka ʻalu ʻi he afi, ʻe ʻikai te ke vela; pea ʻe ʻikai ʻalu hake ʻiate koe ʻae ulo afi.
3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt to pay for your freedom; I traded Ethiopia and Seba for you.
He ko au ko Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, ko e tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli, ko ho Fakamoʻui: naʻaku foaki ʻa ʻIsipite ko ho huhuʻi, ʻa ʻItiopea mo Sipa maʻau.
4 Because you are so valuable to me, because I honor you, and because I love you, I give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your lives.
Ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻo mahuʻinga ʻi hoku ʻao, ko ia naʻa ke ongoongolelei ai, pea kuo u ʻofa kiate koe: ko ia te u foaki ʻae kau tangata koeʻuhi ko koe, pea mo e kakai koeʻuhi ko hoʻo moʻui.
5 Don't be afraid, for I am with you! I will bring you and your children from the east and the west, and gather you together.
ʻOua ʻe manavahē: he ʻoku ou ʻiate koe: te u ʻomi ho hako mei hahake, pea tānaki ko e mei he lulunga;
6 I will tell the north, ‘Hand them over!’ and the south, ‘Don't stop them!’ Bring my sons back from far away and my daughters from distant lands.
Te u pehē ki he tokelau, ‘Tukuange,’ pea ki he potu tonga, ‘ʻOua ʻe taʻofi:’ ʻomi hoku ngaahi foha mei he mamaʻo, mo hoku ngaahi ʻofefine mei he ngaahi ngataʻanga ʻo māmani;
7 Bring back everyone who bears my name, those I created for my honor, those I formed and made.
ʻIo, ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku ui ʻaki hoku huafa: he kuo fakatupu ia ke u ongoongolelei ai: naʻaku fakafuofua ia, ʻio, naʻaku ngaohi ia.”
8 Bring back those who have eyes but are blind, those who have ears but are deaf.
Omi ʻae kakai kui ʻoku mata, pea mo e tuli ʻoku telinga.
9 Have all the nations gather together! Have all the peoples assemble! Who among them could have said this, and predict what was going to happen? Have them bring their witnesses to prove that they're right. Then have them listen, and say, ‘It's true!’
Ke tānaki fakataha ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē, pea ke fakataha ʻae kakai: ko hai ʻiate kinautolu te ne fakahā ʻae meʻa ni, pea fakahā kiate kitautolu ʻae ngaahi meʻa muʻa? Tuku ke nau ʻomi ʻa ʻenau kau fakamoʻoni, koeʻuhi ke nau tonuhia: pe tuku ke nau fanongo, pea pehē, “Ko e moʻoni ia.”
10 However, you are my witnesses, the Lord declares, and my chosen servant, so that you can think about it, and believe me and understand that I am God. No god preceded me, and none will come after me.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Ko ʻeku kau fakamoʻoni ʻakimoutolu, pea ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki ʻaia kuo u fili: koeʻuhi ke mou ʻilo pea tui kiate au, pea ʻilo pau ko au ia: naʻe ʻikai ha ʻOtua kuo fakatupu ʻi muʻa ʻiate au, pea ʻe ʻikai ha taha kimui.
11 I, yes I am the Lord, and there is no Savior apart from me.
Ko au, ʻio ko au, ko Sihova; pea ʻoku ʻikai mo ha fakamoʻui ka ko au pe.
12 I predicted what was going to happen, then I saved you, then I announced it—there was no foreign god among you that did this. You are my witnesses that I am God, declares the Lord.
Kuo u fakahā, pea kuo u fakamoʻui, pea kuo u fakahinohino, ʻi he ʻikai ha ʻotua kehe ʻiate kimoutolu: ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, “ko ʻeku kau fakamoʻoni ʻakimoutolu, Ko au pe ko e ʻOtua.”
13 I am God from the beginning. No one can snatch anybody from my hand. No one can reverse what I do.
ʻIo, ʻi he teʻeki ai ʻae ʻaho ko au ia, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha taha te ne faʻa fakamoʻui mei hoku nima: te u ngāue, pea ko hai te ne taʻofi au?
14 This is what the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, says: For your sake I will send attackers against Babylon and bring them down. All the Babylonians will be like fugitives, escaping in the ships they're so proud of.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ko homou huhuʻi, ko e tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli; Ko e meʻa ʻiate kimoutolu kuo u fekau ki Papilone, pea kuo ʻomi ki lalo honau houʻeiki, pea mo e kakai Kalitia, ʻaia ʻoku ʻi he ngaahi vaka ʻenau tangi.
15 I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, and your King.
Ko au ko Sihova, ko homou tokotaha māʻoniʻoni, ko e Tupuʻanga ʻo ʻIsileli, ko homou Tuʻi.
16 This is what the Lord says, the one who makes a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters;
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻaia ʻoku ngaohi ʻae ʻaluʻanga ʻi he moana, pea mo e hala ʻi he ngaahi vai lahi;
17 the one who brought out a great army with it horses and chariots and lay them down, never to rise again, snuffed out like a burning wick.
ʻAia ʻoku ʻomi ʻae saliote mo e hoosi, ʻae kongakau mo e mālohi: te nau tokoto fakataha, ʻe ʻikai te nau tuʻu ki ʻolunga: kuo nau ʻauha, kuo fuʻifuʻi ʻakinautolu ʻo hangē ko e filo ʻoe maama.
18 But don't dwell on the past; don't concentrate on what happened back then.
“ʻOua naʻa mou manatu ki he ngaahi meʻa muʻa, pe tokanga ki he ngaahi meʻa motuʻa.
19 Just look at something new I'm going to do now! In fact it's started already. Can't you see it? Yes, I'm making a way through the wilderness, rivers in the desert!
Vakai, te u fai ha meʻa foʻou; ʻe tupu hake ni ia; pea ʻikai te mou ʻilo ia? ʻIo, te u ngaohi ha hala ʻi he potu lala, mo e ngaahi vaitafe ʻi he toafa.
20 The wild animals will be grateful to me, the jackals and the owls, because I'm providing water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, so my people, my chosen people, can drink.
ʻE fakaʻapaʻapa kiate au ʻae fanga manu ʻoe vao, ʻae talākoni mo e ngaahi lulu: koeʻuhi ʻoku ou foaki ʻae vai ʻi he potu lala, mo e vaitafe ʻi he toafa, ke ʻatu ʻae inu ki hoku kakai kuo u fili.
21 I made this people for myself so that through their praise for me they could make me known.
Kuo u ngaohi ʻae kakai ni maʻaku; te nau fakahā hoku ongoongolelei.
22 But you haven't called on me for help, Jacob. You've grown tired of me, Israel.
Ka naʻe ʻikai te ke ui kiate au, ʻE Sēkope; ka kuo ke fiu ʻiate au, ʻE ʻIsileli.
23 You haven't brought me sheep for burnt offerings; you haven't honored me with your sacrifices. I haven't burdened you by asking for grain offerings; I haven't tired you out by demanding incense.
ʻOku teʻeki te ke ʻomi ʻae fanga lami ʻo hoʻo ngaahi feilaulau tutu; pea teʻeki ai te ke fakaʻapaʻapa ʻaki hoʻo ngaahi feilaulau. Naʻe ʻikai te u fekau ke ke tauhi au ʻaki ha meʻa foaki, pe fakaongosia koe ʻi he ʻomi ʻae meʻa namu kakala.
24 You haven't used your money to buy scented calamus; you have not pleased me with the fat of your sacrifices. Instead you have burdened me with your sins, and tired me out with your guilt.
25 I, yes I am the God who wipes out your sins because of who I am, and who doesn't remember your sins any more.
Ko au, ʻio ko au ia, ʻaia ʻoku tāmateʻi hoʻo ngaahi hia koeʻuhi ko au, pea ʻe ʻikai te u manatu hoʻo ngaahi angahala.
26 Remind me of the evidence so we can come to a decision together! Present your case to prove that you're right!
Fakamanatuʻi au: ke tau fefakamaauʻaki: fai hoʻo fakamatala, koeʻuhi ke ke tonuhia.
27 Your very first father sinned, and your leaders rebelled against me.
Kuo fai hala hoʻo ʻuluaki tamai, pea kuo talangataʻa kiate au hoʻo kau akonaki.
28 So I treated the priests of the sanctuary with contempt, and I handed Jacob over to be destroyed, and Israel to be scorned.”
Pea kuo fakalieliaʻi ʻe ho ngaahi houʻeiki hoku fale tapu, ko ia te u tuku ʻa Sēkope ki he malaʻia, pea ko ʻIsileli ki he valoki.”
