Isaiah 43
1 But now this is what the Lord says to Jacob, the one who created you; to Israel, the one who formed you: “Don't be afraid! I have saved you! I have called you by name; you are mine!
Nun aber spricht Jahwe also, er, der dich schuf, Jakob, und der dich bildete, Israel: Sei getrost, denn ich erlöse dich; ich rufe dich bei Namen: mein bist du!
2 When you walk through the water, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they won't flood over you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you on fire.
Wenn du Gewässer durchschreitest, bin ich mit dir, und wenn Ströme, sollen sie dich nicht überfluten. Wenn du durch Feuer gehst, bleibst du unversengt, und die Flamme soll dich nicht brennen.
3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt to pay for your freedom; I traded Ethiopia and Seba for you.
Denn ich, Jahwe, dein Gott, der Heilige Israels, bin dein Erretter: Ich gebe Ägypten als Lösegeld für dich, Kusch und Seba an deiner Stelle.
4 Because you are so valuable to me, because I honor you, and because I love you, I give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your lives.
Weil du teuer bist in meinen Augen, mir wert geachtet, und ich dich lieb gewonnen habe, so gebe ich Menschen für dich hin und Völkerschaften für dein Leben.
5 Don't be afraid, for I am with you! I will bring you and your children from the east and the west, and gather you together.
Sei getrost, denn ich bin mit dir; vom Sonnenaufgang will ich deine Nachkommen herbringen und vom Sonnenuntergang her will ich dich versammeln.
6 I will tell the north, ‘Hand them over!’ and the south, ‘Don't stop them!’ Bring my sons back from far away and my daughters from distant lands.
Ich will zum Norden sagen: Gieb her! und zum Süden: Halte nicht zurück! Bringe her meine Söhne aus der Ferne und meine Töchter vom Ende der Erde:
7 Bring back everyone who bears my name, those I created for my honor, those I formed and made.
jeden, der sich nach meinem Namen nennt, und den ich zu meiner Ehre geschaffen, gebildet und bereitet habe!
8 Bring back those who have eyes but are blind, those who have ears but are deaf.
Man führe vor das Volk, das blind ist, obwohl es Augen hat, und sie, die taub sind, obwohl sie Ohren haben!
9 Have all the nations gather together! Have all the peoples assemble! Who among them could have said this, and predict what was going to happen? Have them bring their witnesses to prove that they're right. Then have them listen, and say, ‘It's true!’
All' ihr Völker, versammelt euch insgesamt, und die Nationen mögen sich zusammenscharen. Wer ist unter ihnen, der solches kund thäte und Früheres uns vernehmen ließe? Mögen sie ihre Zeugen stellen, um Recht zu bekommen, und mögen sie hören und sprechen: So ist's!
10 However, you are my witnesses, the Lord declares, and my chosen servant, so that you can think about it, and believe me and understand that I am God. No god preceded me, and none will come after me.
Ihr seid meine Zeugen, ist der Spruch Jahwes, und mein Knecht, den ich erwählt habe, damit ihr erkennet und mir glaubt und einseht, daß ich es bin: vor mir ist kein Gott gebildet worden und nach mir wird keiner vorhanden sein!
11 I, yes I am the Lord, and there is no Savior apart from me.
Ich, ich bin Jahwe, und außer mir giebt es keinen Erretter.
12 I predicted what was going to happen, then I saved you, then I announced it—there was no foreign god among you that did this. You are my witnesses that I am God, declares the Lord.
Ich bin's, der kund gethan und Rettung geschafft und verkündigt hat, und nicht war's ein fremder unter euch. Und so seid ihr meine Zeugen, ist der Spruch Jahwes: Ich bin Gott!
13 I am God from the beginning. No one can snatch anybody from my hand. No one can reverse what I do.
Ja, von Ewigkeit bin ich derselbe, und es giebt niemanden, der aus meiner Gewalt zu erretten vermöchte; ich vollführe es: wer wollte es da rückgängig machen?
14 This is what the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, says: For your sake I will send attackers against Babylon and bring them down. All the Babylonians will be like fugitives, escaping in the ships they're so proud of.
So spricht Jahwe, euer Erlöser, der Heilige Israels: Um euretwillen habe ich nach Babel entsendet und treibe sie alle als Flüchtlinge stromabwärts und die Chaldäer auf den Schiffen, die bisher ihren Jubel weckten,
15 I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, and your King.
ich, Jahwe, euer Heiliger, der Erschaffer Israels, euer König!
16 This is what the Lord says, the one who makes a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters;
So spricht Jahwe, der im Meer einen Weg anlegt und einen Pfad in gewaltigen Wassern,
17 the one who brought out a great army with it horses and chariots and lay them down, never to rise again, snuffed out like a burning wick.
der Wagen und Rosse ausziehen läßt, das Heer und seine Gewaltigen: allesamt liegen sie nun da, um nicht wieder aufzustehen; ausgelöscht sind sie, wie ein Docht verglommen.
18 But don't dwell on the past; don't concentrate on what happened back then.
Gedenkt nicht an das Frühere und achtet nicht mehr auf das, was einst geschah!
19 Just look at something new I'm going to do now! In fact it's started already. Can't you see it? Yes, I'm making a way through the wilderness, rivers in the desert!
Fürwahr, ich vollführe etwas Neues: schon sproßt es auf - erkennt ihr es nicht? - und ich will in der Wüste einen Weg, in der Einöde Ströme schaffen.
20 The wild animals will be grateful to me, the jackals and the owls, because I'm providing water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, so my people, my chosen people, can drink.
Preisen soll mich das Wild in der Steppe, Schakale und Strauße, daß ich in der Wüste Wasser, Ströme in der Einöde beschaffe, um mein Volk, mein auserwähltes, zu tränken.
21 I made this people for myself so that through their praise for me they could make me known.
Das Volk, das ich mir gebildet habe, sie sollen meinen Ruhm verkündigen.
22 But you haven't called on me for help, Jacob. You've grown tired of me, Israel.
Aber nicht mich hast du angerufen, Jakob, noch dich um mich bemüht, o Israel!
23 You haven't brought me sheep for burnt offerings; you haven't honored me with your sacrifices. I haven't burdened you by asking for grain offerings; I haven't tired you out by demanding incense.
Du hast mir nicht Schafe als Brandopfer von dir gebracht, noch mich geehrt mit deinen Schlachtopfern; ich habe dir keine Beschwerde gemacht mit Speisopfern, noch dich belästigt mit Weihrauchspenden.
24 You haven't used your money to buy scented calamus; you have not pleased me with the fat of your sacrifices. Instead you have burdened me with your sins, and tired me out with your guilt.
Nicht hast du mir um Geld Gewürzrohr erworben, noch mich gelabt mit dem Fette deiner Schlachtopfer, - vielmehr nur Beschwerde hast du mir gemacht mit deinen Sünden, mich belästigt mit deinen Vergehungen.
25 I, yes I am the God who wipes out your sins because of who I am, and who doesn't remember your sins any more.
Ich, ich bin es, der ich deine Übertretungen um meinetwillen austilge und deiner Sünden nicht mehr gedenken will.
26 Remind me of the evidence so we can come to a decision together! Present your case to prove that you're right!
Erinnere mich doch: wir wollen miteinander rechten; zähle du auf, damit du Recht bekommst!
27 Your very first father sinned, and your leaders rebelled against me.
Schon dein erster Ahnherr hat gesündigt, und deine Mittler empörten sich wider mich.
28 So I treated the priests of the sanctuary with contempt, and I handed Jacob over to be destroyed, and Israel to be scorned.”
So entweihte ich denn heilige Fürsten und gab Jakob dem Banne preis und Israel der Verlästerung.
