Hosea 5
1 Hear this, you priests! Pay attention, house of Israel! Listen, members of the royal family!
Ecoutez ceci, ô prêtres, soyez attentifs, maison d’Israël, et vous, maison du roi, prêtez l’oreille! Car c’est vous qui êtes mis en cause. Aussi bien, vous avez été un piège pour Miçpah, un filet tendu sur le Thabor.
2 Judgment belongs with you because you have been a snare set at Mizpah and a net spread out on Tabor. You dug a deep trap in Shittim, but I will punish you for all these things you have done.
Vaste et profonde a été leur aberration, et moi je prépare leur châtiment à tous.
3 I know Ephraim very well, and Israel cannot hide from me, for now Ephraim is a prostitute and Israel is defiled.
Je connais bien Ephraïm, et Israël ne peut se dérober à moi; oui, vraiment, tu t’es livré à la prostitution, ô Ephraïm, Israël s’est rendu impur.
4 Your actions stop you from coming back to your God for a spirit of prostitution is within you and you do not know the Lord.
Leur manière d’agir ne leur permet pas de retourner à leur Dieu, car le goût de la prostitution règne au milieu d’eux, mais l’Eternel, ils ne le connaissent point.
5 Israel's pride speaks against them, right in the face. Israel and Ephraim will stumble because of their guilt, and Judah will stumble along with them.
Aussi l’orgueil d’Israël sera-t-il humilié en sa présence; Israël et Ephraïm trébucheront à cause de leur iniquité, même Juda trébuchera avec eux.
6 They will go to seek the Lord with their herds and flocks, but they will not find him, for he has given up on them.
Avec leur menu et gros bétail, ils iront se mettre à la recherche de l’Eternel, mais ne le trouveront point! II s’est retiré d’eux.
7 They have been unfaithful to the Lord and have had children that are not his. Now the New Moon will destroy them along with their fields.
Ils ont trahi l’Eternel, car ils ont donné le jour à des enfants étrangers: maintenant il les consumera en un seul mois avec leurs biens.
8 Blow the horn in Gibeah! Sound the trumpet in Ramah! Shout an alarm in Beth-aven! Lead the way, Benjamin!
Sonnez le chofar à Ghibea, la trompette à Rama, poussez des cris de guerre à Beth-Awên! Benjamin, on est derrière toi!
9 Ephraim will be left desolate on the day of punishment. Among the tribes of Israel I will reveal what is the real truth.
Ephraïm sera réduit en ruines au jour de la répression, j’en fais l’annonce véridique parmi les tribus d’Israël.
10 The rulers of Judah have become thieves like those who illegally move boundaries. I will pour out my anger like water upon them.
Les princes de Juda ont été de ceux qui reculent les bornes; sur eux je répandrai mon courroux comme l’eau.
11 The people of Ephraim are crushed, smashed to pieces in judgment because they were determined to follow human commands.
Ephraïm est accablé, écrasé à juste titre, puisqu’il s’est plu à suivre de vaines prescriptions.
12 I am like a maggot to Ephraim, and like something rotten to the people of Judah.
Aussi serai-je, moi, comme la teigne pour Ephraïm, comme un ver rongeur pour la maison de Juda.
13 When Ephraim saw how sick they were, and Judah saw how wounded they were, Ephraim turned to the great king of Assyria for help, but he could not heal them or cure their wounds.
Ephraïm s’est aperçu de son mal et Juda de sa plaie: Ephraïm est donc allé trouver Achour, il a envoyé une ambassade au roi Protecteur. Mais lui ne peut vous guérir ni soulager votre plaie.
14 For I will be like a lion to Ephraim, like a fierce lion to the people of Judah. I will come and tear them to pieces, and carry them off, and no one will be able to rescue them.
Car moi, je suis comme un chacal pour Ephraïm et comme un lion pour la maison de Juda; moi, oui moi, je mets en pièces et me retire, j’emporte la proie, et personne ne peut me l’arracher.
15 Then I will leave and return to where I came from until they acknowledge their wrongs, and in their distress they will seek my face and beg for my help.”
Je m’en vais reprendre le chemin de ma résidence, jusqu’à ce qu’ils s’avouent coupables et désirent ma présence: quand ils seront dans la détresse, ils me rechercheront.
