Hosea 10
1 Israel is like a spreading vine that produces fruit for itself. The more fruit they produced, the more altars they built. The more productive the land, the more beautiful they made the sacred pillars.
Israel era uma vinha fértil, que dava frutos para si mesma; quanto mais se multiplicavam seus frutos, mais multiplicou altares, quanto mais a sua terra prosperava, mais adornaram suas colunas pagãs.
2 The people have minds that are deceptive, and now they must take responsibility for their guilt. The Lord will break apart their altars and destroy their sacred pillars.
O coração deles está dividido, agora serão culpados; ele quebrará seus altares e destruirá suas colunas pagãs.
3 Then they will say, “We have no king, for we do not fear the Lord, and yet what would a king do for us?”
Pois dirão agora: Não temos rei porque não tivemos temor ao SENHOR; mas o que um rei faria por nós?
4 They speak empty words, swearing false promises to make a covenant. Their “justice” flourishes like poisonous weeds in the furrows of a field.
Falaram palavras jurando falsamente ao fazerem pactos; por isso que a disputa judicial brota como erva venenosa nos sulcos dos campos.
5 Those who live in Samaria tremble in awe at the calf of Beth-aven. Its people mourn for it in their pagan rituals, while its idolatrous priests celebrate its glory. But it will certainly be taken away from them. It will be brought to Assyria as tribute for the great king.
Os moradores de Samaria estarão atemorizados por causa do bezerro Bete-Áven; pois seu povo por causa dele lamentará, e seus sacerdotes, que nele se alegravam, [lamentarão] por sua glória, que se foi dele.
6 Ephraim will be disgraced, and Israel will be ashamed at its own decisions.
Além disso, ele será levado à Assíria como presente ao grande rei; Efraim receberá vergonha, Israel será envergonhado por causa de seu conselho.
7 Samaria and its king will be destroyed, swept away like a twig on the surface of the water.
O rei de Samaria será eliminado como um graveto sobre a superfície das águas.
8 The high places of Aven, where Israel sinned, will be demolished, and thorns and thistles will grow over their altars. Then they will call to the mountains, “Bury us!” and to the hills, “Fall on us!”
E os altos cultuais de Áven, o pecado de Israel, serão destruídos; espinhos e cardos crescerão sobre seus altares. E dirão aos montes: Cobri-nos; e aos morros: Caí sobre nós.
9 Since the days of Gibeah you have been sinning, Israel, and you haven't changed. Do the people of Gibeah think that war will not come to them?
Desde os dias de Gibeá tu tens cometido pecado, ó Israel; ali continuaram; por acaso a guerra em Gibeá não alcançou os filhos da perversidade?
10 When I choose I will punish the wicked. The nations will be gathered together against them when they are punished for their double crime.
Quando eu quiser, eu os castigarei; e povos se reunirão contra eles, para que sejam presos por causa de sua dupla transgressão.
11 Ephraim is like a trained heifer that loved to thresh the grain, but now I will place a yoke on her strong neck. I will harness Ephraim; Judah will have to pull the plough; and Jacob must break up the ground for himself.
Efraim é uma bezerra domada, que amava trilhar; mas eu porei [um jugo] sobre seu belo pescoço; farei com que Efraim seja montado; Judá lavrará, Jacó fará sulcos na terra.
12 Sow for yourselves what is right and you will reap unfailing love. Break up the unploughed ground. It's time to go to the Lord until he comes and rains down goodness on you.
Semeai para vós justiça, colhei para vós bondade; lavrai para vós lavoura; porque é o tempo de buscar ao SENHOR, até que ele venha, e faça chover justiça sobre vós.
13 But instead you have planted wickedness and reaped an evil harvest. You have eaten the fruit of lies, because you trusted in your own strength and in your many warriors.
Lavrastes maldade, colhestes perversidade; comestes o fruto de mentira; porque confiaste em teu caminho, na multidão de teus guerreiros.
14 The terrifying noise of battle will rise against your people, and all your fortresses will be destroyed, just as Shalman devastated Beth Arbel in the time of war. Even mothers and children were dashed to pieces.
Portanto entre teu povo se levantará tumulto, e todas as tuas fortalezas serão destruídas, assim como Salmã destruiu a Bete-Arbel no dia da batalha; ali a mãe foram despedaçada com [seus] filhos.
15 This is what will happen to you, Bethel, because of your great wickedness. At dawn, the king of Israel will be utterly destroyed.
Assim Betel fará convosco, por causa de vossa grande malícia; ao amanhecer o rei de Israel será exterminado.
