< Haggai 2 >

1 On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the Lord sent a message through the prophet Haggai.
Awo ku lunaku olw’amakumi abiri mu olumu mu mwezi ogw’omusanvu, ekigambo kya Mukama ne kijjira nnabbi Kaggayi nti,
2 Say to Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the remaining people,
“Yogera ne Zerubbaberi mutabani wa Seyalutyeri, ow’essaza lya Yuda ne Yoswa mutabani wa Yekozadaaki kabona asinga obukulu, n’abantu abaasigalawo, obabuuze nti,
3 Is there anyone left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it seem like nothing to you?
‘Ani mu mmwe akyasigaddewo eyalaba ku kitiibwa ky’ennyumba eno? Ebafaananira etya kaakano? Tebafaananira ng’eteriimu kaabuntu?
4 So then be strong, Zerubbabel! Be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, high priest! Be strong, all you people who remain in the land! Work, for I am with you, says the Lord Almighty.
Kale nno guma omwoyo, ggwe Zerubbaberi, bw’ayogera Mukama; guma omwoyo, ggwe Yoswa mutabani wa Yekozadaaki kabona asinga obukulu; mugume omwoyo mmwe mwenna abantu ab’omu nsi,’ bw’ayogera Mukama, ‘Mukole, kubanga ndi wamu nammwe,’ bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye.
5 Just as I promised you when you left Egypt, my Spirit continues to be among you. Don't be afraid!
‘Kino kye nalagaana nammwe bwe mwali muva mu Misiri, ng’Omwoyo wange anaabeeranga nammwe. Temutya.’
6 This is what the Lord Almighty says: Soon I will shake the heavens and the earth once more, and the sea and the dry land.
“Bw’atyo bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye nti, ‘Mu bbanga eritali ly’ewala ndikankanya eggulu n’ensi, n’ennyanja n’olukalu.
7 I will shake all the nations, and the one desired by all of the nations will come and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord Almighty.
Ndikankanya amawanga gonna, n’amawanga gonna ge njagala galijja, ne nzijuza ennyumba eno ekitiibwa,’ bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye.
8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares the Lord Almighty.
‘Effeeza yange, ne zaabu yange,’ bw’ayogera Mukama ow’eggye.
9 The glory of this second house will be greater than the first, says the Lord Almighty, and I will bring peace in this place. So declares the Lord Almighty.
‘Ekitiibwa eky’ennyumba eriwo kaakano, kirisinga ekitiibwa ky’eri eyasooka era mu kifo kino ndizzaawo emirembe,’ bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye.”
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of the reign of king Darius, the Lord sent a message through the prophet Haggai.
Awo ku lunaku olw’amakumi abiri mu ennya olw’omwezi ogw’omwenda mu mwaka ogwokubiri ogw’okufuga kwa Daliyo, ekigambo kya Mukama ne kijjira nnabbi Kaggayi nti,
11 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: Ask the priests about the law.
“Bw’atyo bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye nti, ‘Buuza bakabona etteeka kye ligamba.
12 If someone carries some meat from a holy sacrifice in a fold of their clothes and that fold touches some bread or stew or wine or olive oil or any other kind of food, does that food become holy?” And the priests answered, “No.”
Omuntu bw’asitulira ennyama eyatukuzibwa mu kirenge eky’ekyambalo kye, ekirenge ne kikoma ku mugaati oba ku supu, oba ku wayini, oba ku mafuta oba ku mmere endala yonna, bitukuzibwa?’” Bakabona ne baddamu nti, “Nedda.”
13 Then Haggai asked, “If someone becomes unclean by touching a dead body and then touches any of these foods, do they become unclean?” The priests answered, “Yes, it does become unclean.”
Awo Kaggayi n’abuuza nti, “Omuntu atali mulongoofu olw’omulambo, bw’akoma ku bintu ebyo, bifuuka ebitali birongoofu?” Bakabona ne baddamu nti, “Bifuuka ebitali birongoofu.”
14 Then Haggai responded, “This is how it is with these people, and with the nation before me, says the Lord. All that they do, every offering they bring, is unclean.”
Kaggayi n’addamu nti, “Kale nno bwe batyo bwe bali abantu bano n’eggwanga lino. Buli kye bakola ne buli kye bawaayo ng’ekiweebwayo, si kirongoofu,” bw’ayogera Mukama.
15 Now think about what you're doing from this day on. Before a stone was laid on another stone in the house of the Lord,
“‘Kale nno, mweddeko okuva ku lunaku lwa leero, mujjukire ebiseera biri bwe byali, nga n’ejjinja erimu terinnateekebwa ku linnaalyo mu yeekaalu ya Mukama.
16 how was it for you? You expected a store of grain with twenty measures but only found ten. You thought you could empty out fifty measures from the winepress but there was only twenty.
Omuntu yenna bwe yatuukanga ku ntuumu eyandibadde ey’ebipimo amakumi abiri, yassangawo ebipimo kkumi. Omuntu yenna bwe yalaganga mu ssogolero okusenamu lita amakumi ataano, yasangangamu amakumi abiri.
17 I struck with blight and mildew and hail everything you were working so hard for, but even so you refused to come back to me, says the Lord.
Nakolimira emirimu gyonna egy’emikono gyammwe n’okugengewala n’obukuku, n’omuzira, naye ne mutakyuka kudda gye ndi,’ bw’ayogera Mukama.
18 Think about what you're doing from this day on, today the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month when a foundation was laid for the house of the Lord. Think about it:
Okuva olunaku lwa leero, olw’amakumi abiri mu ennya mu mwezi ogw’omwenda, mujjukire olunaku lwe baazimba omusingi gwa yeekaalu ya Mukama. Mwebuuze nti,
19 the seed is still in the barn. The vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate tree, and the olive tree have not yet given fruit. But from this day on I will bless you.
Wakyaliwo ensigo eyasigala mu tterekero? Mulabe, emiti gino egimenyeddwa, ogw’omuzabbibu n’ogw’omutiini, n’ogw’omukomamawanga, n’ogw’omuzeeyituuni tegibalangako bibala. “‘Naye okuva ne leero ndibawa omukisa.’”
20 The Lord sent another message through the prophet Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month:
Awo ekigambo kya Mukama ne kijjira Kaggayi omulundi ogwokubiri ku lunaku olw’amakumi abiri mu ennya olw’omwezi ogwo nga kigamba nti,
21 Tell Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.
“Tegeeza Zerubbaberi gavana wa Yuda nti ndikankanya eggulu n’ensi.
22 I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the nations' kingdoms. I will overthrow the chariots and their riders. The horses and riders will fall, and the men will kill each other by the sword.
Ndisulika entebe ez’obwakabaka ne nzigyawo obuyinza bw’obwakabaka obunnaggwanga. Ndiwamba amagaali n’abavuzi baago, n’embalaasi na buli abazeebagala, balittibwa baganda baabwe.
23 On that day, says the Lord, I will take you, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, my servant, and make you like my signet ring, for I have chosen you. So declares the Lord Almighty.
“‘Ku lunaku olwo, ggwe omuweereza wange Zerubbaberi mutabani wa Seyalutyeri, ndikufuula ng’akabonero, kubanga nkulonze,’ bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye.”
