< Genesis 7 >
1 The Lord told Noah, “Go into the ark with all your family. I have seen how you are a man of integrity, living a moral life among the people of this generation.
And God said to Noah, "Come with all of your household into the ship, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation.
2 Take with you seven pairs, male and female, of every kind of clean animal, and one pair, male and female, of every kind of unclean animal.
You shall take seven pairs of every clean animal with you, the male and his female. Of the animals that are not clean, take two, the male and his female.
3 In addition take seven pairs, male and female, of all the birds, so their different kinds will survive throughout the earth.
Also of the clean flying creatures of the sky, seven pairs, a male and a female, and of all the unclean flying creatures, one pair, a male and a female, to preserve their offspring on the surface of all the earth.
4 In seven days I'm going to make it rain for forty days and nights. I'm going to wipe out from the surface of the earth all the living creatures I made.”
In seven days, I will cause it to rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights. Every living thing that I have made, I will destroy from the surface of the ground."
5 Noah did exactly what the Lord ordered him to do.
Noah did everything that God commanded him.
6 Noah was 600 when the flood waters covered the earth.
Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came on the earth.
7 Noah went into the ark, taking with him his wife and his sons and their wives, because of the flood.
Noah went into the ship with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Clean and unclean animals, birds, and creatures that run along the ground,
Clean animals, animals that are not clean, flying creatures, and everything that crawls on the ground
9 went into the ark with Noah. They came in pairs, male and female, just as God had told Noah.
went by pairs to Noah into the ship, male and female, as God commanded Noah.
10 After seven days the floodwaters swept over the earth.
It happened after the seven days, that the waters of the flood came on the earth.
11 Noah was 600 when on the seventeenth day of the second month all the subterranean waters burst through the earth, and heavy rain poured down from the sky.
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep were burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.
12 Rain continue to fall on the earth for forty days and nights.
The rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
13 That was the actual day when Noah, his wife, and their sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth together with their three wives went into the ark.
In the same day Noah, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the ship;
14 They had with them every kind of wild animals, livestock, creatures that run along the ground, and birds—everything with wings.
they, and every wild animal after its kind, and every tame animal after their kind, every creature that crawls on the earth after its kind, and every flying creature after its kind, everything with wings.
15 They all came into the ark with Noah in pairs—every living thing that breathes.
They went to Noah into the ship, by pairs of all flesh with the breath of life in them.
16 A male and a female of every creature entered, as God had told Noah. Then the Lord shut the door behind him.
Those who went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; and God shut him in.
17 The flood increased for forty days, lifting the ark so that it floated up from the earth.
The flood was forty days on the earth. The waters increased, and lifted up the ship, and it was lifted up above the earth.
18 The floodwaters surged and grew deeper and deeper over the earth, but the ark floated along on the surface.
The waters prevailed, and increased greatly on the earth; and the ship floated on the surface of the waters.
19 Finally the water grew so deep that even the highest mountains were covered—all that could be seen was sky.
And the waters rose very high on the earth. And all the high mountains that were under the whole sky were covered.
20 The water rose so much that it was higher than the mountains by fifteen cubits.
The waters rose and covered the highest mountains to a depth of more than twenty-six feet.
21 Everything living on earth died—the birds, livestock, wild animals, all creatures that run along the ground, and all the people.
And all flesh died that moved on the earth, flying creatures, and tame animals, and wild animals, and every creature that crawls on the earth, and all humankind.
22 Everything on land that breathed, died.
All in whose nostrils breathed the breath of life, of all that was on the dry land, died.
23 The Lord wiped out all life on earth—people, livestock, creatures that run along the ground, and birds. All were killed. The only ones left were Noah and those with him on the ark.
Every living thing was destroyed that was on the surface of the ground, including people, animals, crawling creatures, and flying creatures of the sky. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ship.
24 The earth remained flooded for 150 days.
The waters prevailed on the earth one hundred fifty days.
