< Genesis 6 >
1 People started to increase in number and spread out across the earth. Daughters were born to them,
Ɛberɛ a nnipa dɔɔso wɔ asase so no, wɔwoo mmammaa.
2 and the sons of God saw that these women were beautiful, and they took whichever ones they wanted.
Onyankopɔn mmammarima no hunuu sɛ nnipa mmammaa no ho yɛ fɛ enti, deɛ obiara pɛ no no, ɔfaa no wareeɛ.
3 Then the Lord said, “My life-giving Spirit will not remain in these people forever, because they are only mortal. The time they have left will be 120 years.”
Afei, Awurade kaa sɛ, “Me honhom rentena nnipa mu nkɔsi daa, ɛfiri sɛ, wɔyɛ ɔhonam; na wɔn nkwa nna bɛyɛ mfeɛ ɔha aduonu.”
4 There were giants on earth in those days, and also later on. They were born after the sons of God slept with the daughters of these people. Their sons became the great warriors and famous men of ancient times.
Saa ɛberɛ no, na nnipa akwabrane wɔ asase no so. Ɛberɛ a Onyankopɔn mmammarima yi kɔɔ nnipa mmammaa yi ho no, wɔne wɔn wowoeɛ. Saa nnipa yi ne kane tete nnipa atitire a na wɔyɛ akofoɔ a wɔgyee edin no.
5 The Lord saw how terribly evil people on earth had become—every single thought in their minds was evil all the time!
Awurade Onyankopɔn hunuu sɛ adasamma amumuyɛ adɔɔso wɔ asase so, na nnipa nsusuiɛ nyinaa yɛ bɔne nko ara.
6 The Lord was sorry he'd made human beings to live on the earth; it made him very sad to think about it.
Ɛyɛɛ Awurade Onyankopɔn awerɛhoɔ sɛ ɔbɔɔ wɔn bɛtenaa asase so. Saa bɔne no yɛɛ Awurade Onyankopɔn awerɛhoɔ.
7 So the Lord said, “I'm going to wipe out these people I created from the earth, and not only them but also the animals, the creatures that run along the ground, and the birds, because I'm sorry I made them.”
Awurade kaa sɛ, “Mɛpepa nnipa a mabɔ wɔn no afiri asase so; mmoa ne mmoa a wɔwea asase so ne ewiem nnomaa, ɛfiri sɛ, ɛyɛ me ya sɛ mebɔɔ wɔn.”
8 But the Lord was pleased with Noah.
Nanso, Noa deɛ, ɔnyaa adom Awurade anim.
9 This is the story of Noah and his family. Noah was a man of integrity, living a moral life among the people of his time. He had a close relationship with God.
Noa awoɔ ntoatoasoɔ nie. Na Noa yɛ onipa teneneeni a ne ho nni asɛm wɔ ne berɛsofoɔ mu. Ɔyɛɛ Onyankopɔn apɛdeɛ.
10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Noa woo mmammarima baasa na wɔn din de Sem, Ham ne Yafet.
11 God saw how corrupt the whole world had become, full of violent and lawless people.
Na bɔne ahyɛ asase so ma a amumuyɛsɛm adɔɔso.
12 God recognized that the corruption in the world was due to everyone on earth living corrupt lives.
Onyankopɔn hunuu saa bɔne yi nyinaa wɔ asase so, hunuu awurukasɛm ne amumuyɛsɛm, afanan nyinaa nso.
13 So God told Noah, “I have decided to put an end to all people on earth because they are all violent and lawless. I myself am going to destroy all of them, along with the earth.
Enti, Onyankopɔn ka kyerɛɛ Noa sɛ, “Esiane sɛ nnipa ama basabasa aba asase so enti, mɛsɛe nnipa ne asase a wɔte so no nyinaa.
14 Build an ark out of cypress wood. Make rooms inside the ark, and coat it with tar, both inside and out.
Fa ɔwawa dua yɛ adaka. Yɛ adan wɔ Adaka no mu, na fa ama ka emu ne akyire nyinaa.
15 This is how to build it: the ark is to measure 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.
Sei na ɛsɛ sɛ woyɛ no: ma ne tenten nyɛ anammɔn ahanan aduonum, ne trɛ anammɔn aduɔson enum, na ne ɔsorokɔ nso nyɛ anammɔn aduanan enum.
16 Make a roof for the ark, leaving a cubit-wide opening between the roof and the top of the sides. Put a door in the side of the ark, and construct three decks inside.
Bɔ adaka no so. Ma ne ɔsorokɔ nyɛ bɛyɛ sɛ nsateakwaa dunwɔtwe. Fa ɛpono to adaka no nkyɛn, na yɛ nsamsoɔ mmiɛnsa; deɛ ɛdi ɛkan, deɛ ɛda ntam ne deɛ ɛwɔ soro.
17 I myself am going to flood the earth with water that will destroy everything that breathes, Every living thing everywhere on earth will die.
Tie! Mede nsuyire bɛkata asase so nyinaa, na mede asɛe abɔdeɛ a nkwa wɔ mu; biribiara a nkwa wɔ mu no, ne nyinaa bɛwuwu.
18 But I will keep my agreement with you. You are to go into the ark, taking with you your wife and your sons and their wives.
Na wo deɛ, me ne wo bɛyɛ apam; na wo, wo mmammarima, wo yere ne wo mmammarima yerenom nyinaa ne wo bɛba Adaka no mu.
19 Take a pair, male and female, of every kind of animal into the ark and make sure you keep them alive.
Ɛsɛ sɛ wode abɔdeɛ a nkwa wɔ mu nyinaa, mmienu mmienu a, ɛyɛ onini ne ɔbereɛ a, wo ne wɔn bɛtena adaka no mu nsuyire berɛ no a, wɔnwuwuo.
20 The same applies to every kind of bird, livestock, and the creatures that run along the ground—a pair of every kind will come to you so they can be kept alive.
Nnomaa ahodoɔ biara mmienu, mmoa biara mmienu, ne abɔdeɛ biara a ɛwea asase so mmienu bɛba wo nkyɛn, na woahwɛ wɔn, na wɔanwuwu.
21 Take all kinds of food with you too. Store it so you and the animals will have enough to eat.”
Afei, fa nnuane ahodoɔ a, wɔdie na kora. Ɛno na ɛbɛyɛ wo ne wɔn nnuane a mobɛdi.”
22 Noah did exactly what God ordered him to do.
Noa yɛɛ biribiara pɛpɛɛpɛ, sɛdeɛ Onyankopɔn ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ ɔnyɛ no.
