Genesis 6
1 People started to increase in number and spread out across the earth. Daughters were born to them,
Quando gli uomini cominciarono a moltiplicarsi sulla terra e nacquero loro figlie,
2 and the sons of God saw that these women were beautiful, and they took whichever ones they wanted.
i figli di Dio videro che le figlie degli uomini erano belle e ne presero per mogli quante ne vollero.
3 Then the Lord said, “My life-giving Spirit will not remain in these people forever, because they are only mortal. The time they have left will be 120 years.”
Allora il Signore disse: «Il mio spirito non resterà sempre nell'uomo, perché egli è carne e la sua vita sarà di centoventi anni».
4 There were giants on earth in those days, and also later on. They were born after the sons of God slept with the daughters of these people. Their sons became the great warriors and famous men of ancient times.
C'erano sulla terra i giganti a quei tempi - e anche dopo - quando i figli di Dio si univano alle figlie degli uomini e queste partorivano loro dei figli: sono questi gli eroi dell'antichità, uomini famosi.
5 The Lord saw how terribly evil people on earth had become—every single thought in their minds was evil all the time!
Il Signore vide che la malvagità degli uomini era grande sulla terra e che ogni disegno concepito dal loro cuore non era altro che male.
6 The Lord was sorry he'd made human beings to live on the earth; it made him very sad to think about it.
E il Signore si pentì di aver fatto l'uomo sulla terra e se ne addolorò in cuor suo.
7 So the Lord said, “I'm going to wipe out these people I created from the earth, and not only them but also the animals, the creatures that run along the ground, and the birds, because I'm sorry I made them.”
Il Singore disse: «Sterminerò dalla terra l'uomo che ho creato: con l'uomo anche il bestiame e i rettili e gli uccelli del cielo, perché sono pentito d'averli fatti».
8 But the Lord was pleased with Noah.
Ma Noè trovò grazia agli occhi del Signore.
9 This is the story of Noah and his family. Noah was a man of integrity, living a moral life among the people of his time. He had a close relationship with God.
Questa è la storia di Noè. Noè era uomo giusto e integro tra i suoi contemporanei e camminava con Dio.
10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Noè generò tre figli: Sem, Cam, e Iafet.
11 God saw how corrupt the whole world had become, full of violent and lawless people.
Ma la terra era corrotta davanti a Dio e piena di violenza.
12 God recognized that the corruption in the world was due to everyone on earth living corrupt lives.
Dio guardò la terra ed ecco essa era corrotta, perché ogni uomo aveva pervertito la sua condotta sulla terra.
13 So God told Noah, “I have decided to put an end to all people on earth because they are all violent and lawless. I myself am going to destroy all of them, along with the earth.
Allora Dio disse a Noè: «E' venuta per me la fine di ogni uomo, perché la terra, per causa loro, è piena di violenza; ecco, io li distruggerò insieme con la terra.
14 Build an ark out of cypress wood. Make rooms inside the ark, and coat it with tar, both inside and out.
Fatti un'arca di legno di cipresso; dividerai l'arca in scompartimenti e la spalmerai di bitume dentro e fuori.
15 This is how to build it: the ark is to measure 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.
Ecco come devi farla: l'arca avrà trecento cubiti di lunghezza, cinquanta di larghezza e trenta di altezza.
16 Make a roof for the ark, leaving a cubit-wide opening between the roof and the top of the sides. Put a door in the side of the ark, and construct three decks inside.
Farai nell'arca un tetto e a un cubito più sopra la terminerai; da un lato metterai la porta dell'arca. La farai a piani: inferiore, medio e superiore.
17 I myself am going to flood the earth with water that will destroy everything that breathes, Every living thing everywhere on earth will die.
Ecco io manderò il diluvio, cioè le acque, sulla terra, per distruggere sotto il cielo ogni carne, in cui è alito di vita; quanto è sulla terra perirà.
18 But I will keep my agreement with you. You are to go into the ark, taking with you your wife and your sons and their wives.
Ma con te io stabilisco la mia alleanza. Entrerai nell'arca tu e con te i tuoi figli, tua moglie e le mogli dei tuoi figli.
19 Take a pair, male and female, of every kind of animal into the ark and make sure you keep them alive.
Di quanto vive, di ogni carne, introdurrai nell'arca due di ogni specie, per conservarli in vita con te: siano maschio e femmina.
20 The same applies to every kind of bird, livestock, and the creatures that run along the ground—a pair of every kind will come to you so they can be kept alive.
Degli uccelli secondo la loro specie, del bestiame secondo la propria specie e di tutti i rettili della terra secondo la loro specie, due d'ognuna verranno con te, per essere conservati in vita.
21 Take all kinds of food with you too. Store it so you and the animals will have enough to eat.”
Quanto a te, prenditi ogni sorta di cibo da mangiare e raccoglilo presso di te: sarà di nutrimento per te e per loro».
22 Noah did exactly what God ordered him to do.
Noè eseguì tutto; come Dio gli aveva comandato, così egli fece.
