Genesis 38
1 Around this time, Judah left his brothers and set up his tents at Adullam, near to a local man named Hirah.
ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು, ಅದುಲ್ಲಾಮೂರಿನವನಾದ ಹೀರಾನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.
2 There Judah happened to see the daughter of a Canaanite man named Shua and married her. He slept with her,
ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದನು ಕಾನಾನ್ಯನಾದ ಶೂಗನ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, ಅವಳನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿದನು.
3 and she became pregnant and had a son he named Er.
ಅವಳು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಳು. ಯೆಹೂದನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಏರ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.
4 She became pregnant again and had a son she named Onan.
ಆಕೆಯು ತಿರುಗಿ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಓನಾನ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು.
5 Then she had another son she named Shelah who was born in Kezib.
ಆಕೆಯು ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಶೇಲಹ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು. ಆಕೆಯು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಾಗ, ಯೆಹೂದನು ಕೆಜೀಬಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದನು.
6 Much later, Judah arranged for Er, his firstborn son, to marry a woman named Tamar.
ಇದಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆಹೂದನು ತನ್ನ ಜೇಷ್ಠಪುತ್ರ ಏರನಿಗೆ ತಾಮಾರ್ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಣ್ಣನ್ನು ತಂದು ಮದುವೆಮಾಡಿದನು.
7 But Er did what was evil in the Lord's sight, so the Lord put him to death.
ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೂದನ ಜೇಷ್ಠಪುತ್ರ ಏರನು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದುಷ್ಟನಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಾವಿಗೀಡುಮಾಡಿದರು.
8 Judah told Onan, “Go and sleep with your brother's wife to fulfill the requirements of a brother-in-law to have children on behalf of your brother.”
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದನು ಓನಾನನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅವಳನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನಿಗೆ ಸಂತತಿಯನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡು,” ಎಂದನು.
9 Onan realized that any children he had wouldn't be his own, so whenever he slept with his brother's wife he made sure she wouldn't become pregnant by withdrawing and spilling his semen on the ground. In this way he prevented any children being born on behalf of his brother.
ಆದರೆ ಓನಾನನು ಆ ಸಂತತಿಯು ತನ್ನದಾಗತಕ್ಕದ್ದಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು, ತನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನಿಗೆ ಸಂತತಿಯನ್ನು ಉಂಟು ಮಾಡದ ಹಾಗೆ, ತನ್ನ ವೀರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಚೆಲ್ಲಿದನು.
10 But what he did was evil in the Lord's sight, so he also put Onan to death.
ಅವನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಗೆಯಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಇವನನ್ನೂ ಸಾವಿಗೀಡುಮಾಡಿದರು.
11 Then Judah told his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Go to your father's house and live there as a widow until my son Shelah grows up.” For he thought, “Maybe he'll die too, just like his brothers.” So Tamar went and stayed in her father's house.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದನು ತನ್ನ ಸೊಸೆ ತಾಮಾರಳಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಮಗ ಶೇಲಹನು ದೊಡ್ಡವನಾಗುವವರೆಗೆ ವಿಧವೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರು,” ಎಂದನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಇವನು ಸಹ ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಹಾಗೆ ಸತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು. ತಾಮಾರಳಾದರೋ ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿದಳು.
12 A long time later Judah's wife, the daughter of Shua, died. After Judah had finished the time of mourning, he went to visit his sheepshearers at Timnah with his friend Hirah from Adullam.
ಬಹಳ ದಿನಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆಹೂದನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಶೂಗನ ಮಗಳು ಸತ್ತಳು. ಯೆಹೂದನು ಆದರಣೆ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಮೇಲೆ, ತಾನೂ, ತನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನಾಗಿರುವ ಅದುಲ್ಲಾಮ್ಯನಾದ ಹೀರಾನನೂ ತನ್ನ ಕುರಿಗಳ ಉಣ್ಣೆಯನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸುವವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿಮ್ನಾ ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.
13 Tamar was told, “Your father-in-law is going to Timnah to shear his sheep.”
ಆಗ ತಾಮಾರಳಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಮಾವನು ತನ್ನ ಕುರಿಗಳ ಉಣ್ಣೆಯನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿಮ್ನಾ ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ,” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದಾಗ,
14 So she took off her widow's clothes and covered herself with a veil, disguising herself. She sat down beside the entrance to Enaim, which is on the way to Timnah. She had realized that even though Shelah had now grown up, nothing had been done about her marrying him.
ಆಕೆಯು ವಿಧವೆಯ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದಿಟ್ಟು, ಮುಸುಕುಹಾಕಿ ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು, ತಿಮ್ನಾ ಊರಿನ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಏನಯಿಮೂರಿನ ಬಹಿರಂಗ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂತುಕೊಂಡಳು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಶೇಲಹನು ದೊಡ್ಡವನಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದಳು.
15 Judah saw her and thought she must be a prostitute because she had veiled her face.
ಯೆಹೂದನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ಅವಳು ಮುಖ ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವಳು ವೇಶ್ಯೆಯೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡನು.
16 He went over to her at the side of the road and said, “I want to sleep with you.” He didn't know she was his daughter-in-law. “What will you give me if I let you sleep with me?” she asked.
ಮಾರ್ಗದಿಂದ ಆಕೆಯ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವನು, “ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರಗೊಡಿಸು,” ಎಂದನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವಳು ತನ್ನ ಸೊಸೆಯೆಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವಳು, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರೆ, ನನಗೆ ಏನು ಕೊಡುವೆ?” ಎಂದಳು.
17 “I'll send you a young goat from my flock,” he replied. “What guarantee will you give me to make sure you'll send it?” she asked.
ಅವನು, “ಮಂದೆಯಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ಮೇಕೆಯ ಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದನು. ಅವಳು, “ನೀನು ಅದನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವವರೆಗೆ ಈಡು ಕೊಡುವೆಯೋ?” ಎಂದಳು.
18 “What guarantee do I have to give you?” he asked. “Your signet seal and its cord, and your walking stick that you're holding,” she replied. He handed them over to her. He slept with her and she became pregnant.
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡತಕ್ಕ ಈಡು ಏನು?” ಎಂದಾಗ. ಅವಳು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಮುದ್ರೆಯೂ ನಿನ್ನ ದಾರವೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೋಲೂ,” ಎಂದಳು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಕೆಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅವಳು ಅವನಿಂದ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾದಳು.
19 She left, went home, took off her veil, and put on her widow's clothes.
ತರುವಾಯ ಅವಳು ಎದ್ದು ಹೋಗಿ, ಮುಸುಕನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದಿಟ್ಟು, ತನ್ನ ವಿಧವೆಯ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡಳು.
20 Judah sent his friend Hirah from Adullam with a young goat to get back his belongings he'd left as a guarantee from the woman, but he couldn't find her.
ಯೆಹೂದನು ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಈಡು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನಾದ ಅದುಲ್ಲಾಮ್ಯನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಮೇಕೆಯ ಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಾಗ ಆಕೆಯು ಸಿಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
21 Hirah asked the men there, “Where's the cult prostitute that sits by the entrance road to Enaim?” “There's no cult prostitute here,” they answered.
ಅದುಲ್ಲಾಮ್ಯನು ಆಕೆಯ ಊರಿನವರನ್ನು, “ಏನಯಿಮಿನ ಬಹಿರಂಗ ಮಾರ್ಗದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ವೇಶ್ಯೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ. ಅವರು, “ಈ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ವೇಶ್ಯೆಯೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದರು.
22 Hirah went back to Judah and told him, “I couldn't find her, and the men there said, ‘There's no cult prostitute here.’”
ಆಗ ಅವನು ಯೆಹೂದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಬಂದು, “ಆಕೆಯು ನನಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು, ‘ಈ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವದಾಸಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
23 “Let her keep what I gave her,” Judah replied. “We'll look ridiculous to people if we go on searching. In any case I did try to send her the young goat as promised but you couldn't find her.”
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದನು, “ನಾವು ಅಪಹಾಸ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವಳು ಅದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಲಿ, ಈ ಮೇಕೆಯ ಮರಿಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದೆನು, ಆದರೆ ಆಕೆಯು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದನು.
24 Then about three months later Judah was told, “Tamar your daughter-in-law has had sex like a prostitute and now as a result she's pregnant!” “Bring her out and burn her to death!” Judah ordered.
ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮೂರು ತಿಂಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆಹೂದನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಸೊಸೆ ತಾಮಾರಳು ವೇಶ್ಯಾವೃತ್ತಿಮಾಡಿ ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರದಿಂದ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ,” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದನು, “ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ತನ್ನಿರಿ, ಅವಳನ್ನು ಸುಡಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದನು.
25 As she was brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law, saying, “I'm pregnant by the man who owns these things.” Then she added, “Please look carefully at this signet seal and its cord and walking stick. Who do they belong to?”
ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ತಂದಾಗ, ಆಕೆಯು ತನ್ನ ಮಾವನಿಗೆ, “ಈ ಒತ್ತೆಯ ಸಾಮಾನುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಂದಲೇ ನಾನು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈ ಮುದ್ರೆಯೂ ದಾರವೂ ಕೋಲೂ ಯಾರವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೋ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.
26 Judah recognized them right away and said, “She has honored the law more than I have, because I didn't give her in marriage to my son Shelah.” He didn't sleep with Tamar again.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, “ಆಕೆಯು ನನಗಿಂತ ನೀತಿವಂತಳು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗ ಶೇಲಹನಿಗೆ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದನು. ಅವನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಆಕೆಯೊಡನೆ ಸಂಸರ್ಗವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದ್ದನು.
27 When the time came for Tamar to give birth, she was found to be carrying twins.
ಅವಳು ಹೆರುವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅವಳಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಆಕೆಯ ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವು.
28 One baby put out his hand, and the midwife tied a scarlet thread around on his wrist and said, “This one came out first.”
ಆಕೆಯು ಹೆರುವಾಗ ಒಂದು ಮಗುವು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಚಾಚಿತು. ಆಗ ಸೂಲಗಿತ್ತಿಯು, “ಇದು ಮೊದಲು ಬಂದದ್ದು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅದರ ಕೈಗೆ ಕೆಂಪು ನೂಲನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿದಳು.
29 But then he pulled back his hand and his brother was born, she said, “How did you burst out?” So he was named Perez.
ಆ ಮಗುವು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಳೆದಾಗ, ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಆಗ ಅವಳು, “ನೀನು ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದೆಯಾ?” ಎಂದಳು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಪೆರೆಚ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು.
30 Then his brother with the scarlet thread on his wrist was born. He was named Zerah.
ತರುವಾಯ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಂಪು ನೂಲು ಇದ್ದ ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಜೆರಹ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು.
