Genesis 28
1 Isaac called for Jacob and blessed him. “Don't marry a Canaanite woman,” he ordered him.
Wtedy Izaak wezwał Jakuba i błogosławił mu, i rozkazał: Nie bierz sobie żony z córek Kanaanu.
2 “Leave right away and go to Paddan-aram, to the home of Bethuel, your mother's father. Find yourself a wife there—a daughter of Laban, your mother's brother.
[Ale] wstań i idź do krainy Paddan-Aram, do domu Betuela, ojca twojej matki, i weź sobie stamtąd żonę z córek Labana, brata twojej matki.
3 God Almighty bless you and may your descendants be so numerous that you become the ancestor of many nations.
A Bóg Wszechmogący niech ci błogosławi i niech cię uczyni płodnym i rozmnoży, abyś stał się licznym ludem;
4 May he grant you and your descendants the same blessing he gave to Abraham, so that you may take over the land where you now live as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.”
I niech ci da błogosławieństwo Abrahama, tobie i twemu potomstwu z tobą, abyś odziedziczył ziemię, na której jesteś przybyszem, którą Bóg dał Abrahamowi.
5 So Isaac sent Jacob on his way. He traveled to Paddan-aram, to Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramean. Laban was the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.
I tak Izaak wysłał Jakuba, który udał się do krainy Paddan-Aram, do Labana, syna Betuela, Syryjczyka, brata Rebeki, matki Jakuba i Ezawa.
6 Esau found out that Isaac had blessed Jacob and had sent him to Paddan-aram to find a wife there, and that when he blessed him he ordered him, “Don't marry a Canaanite woman.”
A Ezaw widział, że Izaak błogosławił Jakubowi i posłał go do krainy Paddan-Aram, aby stamtąd wziął sobie żonę, [i że] błogosławiąc mu, przykazał: Nie weźmiesz żony z córek Kanaanu;
7 He also discovered that Jacob had done what his father and mother told him and had left for Paddan-aram.
I że Jakub był posłuszny swemu ojcu oraz swojej matce, i poszedł do krainy Paddan-Aram;
8 This made Esau realize how much his father disliked Canaanite women.
Widział też Ezaw, że córki Kanaanu nie podobają się jego ojcu Izaakowi;
9 So he went to Ishmael's family and married an additional wife—Mahalath, the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nebaioth.
Wtedy Ezaw poszedł do Izmaela i oprócz żon, które już miał, wziął za żonę Machalat, córkę Izmaela, syna Abrahama, siostrę Nebajota.
10 In the meantime Jacob had set off from Beersheba on his way to Haran.
A Jakub wyszedł z Beer-Szeby i udał się do Charanu.
11 He arrived after sunset at a particular place and stopped there for the night. He picked up a stone, put it under his head, lay down and went to sleep.
Przyszedł na pewne miejsce i tam nocował, bo słońce już zaszło. Wziął [jeden] z kamieni z tego miejsca, podłożył go sobie pod głowę i zasnął na tym miejscu.
12 He dreamed he saw a stairway that started on earth, and the top reached all the way into heaven. He saw God's angels going up and down on it.
I śniło mu się, że na ziemi stała drabina, a jej szczyt sięgał nieba. A oto aniołowie Boży wstępowali i zstępowali po niej.
13 Then he saw the Lord standing over him, who said, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham, and the God of Isaac. I'm giving you and your descendants the land you're lying on.
A PAN stał nad nią i powiedział: Ja jestem PAN, Bóg twego ojca Abrahama i Bóg Izaaka. Ziemię, na której leżysz, dam tobie i twemu potomstwu.
14 Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth, and will spread out west and east, and north and south. Everyone on earth will be blessed by your descendants.
A twoje potomstwo będzie jak proch ziemi i rozprzestrzenisz się na zachód i na wschód, na północ i na południe. A w tobie i w twoim potomstwie będą błogosławione wszystkie narody ziemi.
15 Listen! I am with you and will take care of you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this country. I won't leave you because I'm going to do what I've promised you.”
Oto ja [jestem] z tobą i będę cię strzegł, gdziekolwiek pójdziesz, i przyprowadzę cię z powrotem do tej ziemi. Bo nie opuszczę cię, aż spełnię to, co ci obiecałem.
16 When Jacob woke up he said to himself, “The Lord is right here, in this place, and I didn't realize it!”
Gdy Jakub zbudził się ze snu, powiedział: Naprawdę PAN jest na tym miejscu, a ja [o tym] nie wiedziałem.
17 He became frightened and said, “This is a scary place! It must be the house of God and the entrance to heaven.”
I przestraszył się, i powiedział: O, jakie straszne to miejsce! To nie może być nic [innego] jak dom Boży i brama nieba.
18 When Jacob got up in the morning he took the stone he'd put under his head and set it upright as a stone pillar and poured some olive oil on it.
I Jakub wstał wcześnie rano, wziął kamień, który podłożył sobie pod głowę i postawił go na znak, i nalał oliwy na jego wierzch.
19 He named the place “Bethel,” (previously it was called Luz).
I nadał temu miejscu nazwę Betel, lecz przedtem miasto nazywało się Luz.
20 Jacob also made a solemn promise, saying, “God, if you will be with me, and take care of me on my journey, and give me food to eat and clothes to wear
Wtedy Jakub złożył ślub, mówiąc: Jeśli Bóg będzie ze mną i będzie mnie strzegł na tej drodze, którą idę, [jeśli] da mi chleb do jedzenia i odzież do ubrania;
21 so I can return safely to my father's home, then you Lord will be my God.
I [jeśli] wrócę w pokoju do domu mego ojca, to PAN będzie moim Bogiem.
22 This stone pillar that I've set up will be the house of God, and I will give you one tenth of all you give me.”
A ten kamień, który postawiłem [na] znak, będzie domem Bożym. I ze wszystkiego, co mi dasz, będę ci na pewno oddawał dziesięcinę.
