Genesis 21
1 The Lord came to help Sarah as he'd said he would. The Lord did for Sarah what he'd promised.
Und der HERR suchte Sarah heim, wie er verheißen hatte, und der HERR tat an Sarah, wie er geredet hatte.
2 She became pregnant and had a son for Abraham when he was old, at the exact time God said she would.
Und Sarah empfing und gebar dem Abraham einen Sohn in seinem Alter, zur bestimmten Zeit, wie ihm Gott versprochen hatte.
3 Abraham named their son Isaac.
Und Abraham nannte seinen Sohn, der ihm geboren ward, den ihm Sarah gebar, Isaak.
4 Abraham circumcised him when Isaac was eight days old, following God's command.
Und Abraham beschnitt Isaak, seinen Sohn, da er acht Tage alt war, wie ihm Gott geboten hatte.
5 Abraham was 100 when Isaac was born.
Hundert Jahre war Abraham alt, da ihm sein Sohn Isaak geboren ward.
6 Sarah declared, “God has made me laugh, and all those who hear about this will laugh with me.”
Und Sarah sprach: Gott hat mir ein Lachen bereitet; wer es hören wird, der wird meiner lachen!
7 She also said, “Would anyone have announced to Abraham that Sarah was going to have children to nurse? But now I have had a son for Abraham even when he was old!”
Und sie sprach: Wer verkündigt das dem Abraham, daß Sarah Kinder säugt, daß ich ihm in seinem Alter einen Sohn geboren habe?
8 The baby grew up, and on the day Isaac was weaned Abraham held a large feast.
Und das Kind wuchs und ward entwöhnt. Und Abraham machte ein großes Mahl des Tages, da Isaak entwöhnt ward.
9 But Sarah noticed that Ishmael, Hagar the Egyptian's son she'd had for Abraham, was making fun of Isaac.
Und Sarah sah, daß der Sohn der Hagar, der ägyptischen Magd, den sie dem Abraham geboren hatte, Mutwillen trieb.
10 So she went to Abraham and told him, “You have to get rid of this slave woman and this son of hers! A slave woman's son is not going to be one of your heirs and inherit together with my son Isaac!”
Da sprach sie zu Abraham: Treibe diese Magd mit ihrem Sohne aus; denn der Sohn dieser Magd soll nicht erben mit meinem Sohn Isaak!
11 Abraham felt very bad about it because Ishmael was his son.
Dieses Wort mißfiel Abraham sehr um seines Sohnes willen.
12 But God told Abraham, “Don't feel bad about the boy and the slave woman. Do whatever Sarah tells you, because it's through Isaac that your descendants will be counted.
Aber Gott sprach zu Abraham: Es soll dir das nicht mißfallen! Höre auf alles, was Sarah dir sagt wegen des Knaben und deiner Magd; denn in Isaak soll dir ein Same berufen werden.
13 Don't worry—I will also make the son of the slave woman into a nation because he's your son.”
Doch ich will auch den Sohn der Magd zum Volke machen, weil er deines Samens ist.
14 Abraham got up early the next morning. He packed up some food and a skin of water which he gave to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder. Then he sent her and the boy away. She left and wandered through the Desert of Beersheba.
Da stand Abraham am Morgen frühe auf und nahm Brot und einen Schlauch voll Wasser, gab es Hagar und legte es auf ihre Schulter; er gab ihr auch den Knaben und schickte sie fort. Sie ging und irrte in der Wüste Beer-Seba umher.
15 When the water ran out, she left the boy under one of the bushes.
Da nun das Wasser im Schlauch ausgegangen war, warf sie den Knaben unter einen Strauch,
16 She went and sat down some way off, a few hundred yards away, saying, “I can't bear to watch my son die!” As she sat down she burst into tears.
ging hin und setzte sich gegenüber, einen Bogenschuß weit entfernt; denn sie sprach: Ich kann nicht sehen des Knaben Sterben! Und sie saß ihm gegenüber, erhob ihre Stimme und weinte.
17 God heard the boy's cries, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and asked her, “What's the matter, Hagar? Don't be afraid! God has heard the boy crying from where he is.
Da erhörte Gott die Stimme des Knaben, und der Engel Gottes rief der Hagar vom Himmel her und sprach zu ihr: Was ist dir, Hagar? Fürchte dich nicht, denn Gott hat erhört die Stimme des Knaben, da, wo er liegt.
18 Get up, go over and help the boy up, and encourage him, for I will make him into a great nation.”
Steh auf, nimm den Knaben und fasse ihn mit deiner Hand, denn ich will ihn zu einem großen Volke machen!
19 God opened her eyes and she saw a well nearby. She went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.
Und Gott öffnete ihr die Augen, daß sie einen Wasserbrunnen sah. Da ging sie hin und füllte den Schlauch mit Wasser und tränkte den Knaben.
20 God blessed Ishmael and he grew up, living in the desert. He became a skilled archer.
Und Gott war mit dem Knaben; der wuchs und wohnte in der Wüste und ward ein Bogenschütze.
21 He lived in the Desert of Paran. His mother chose a wife for him from the land of Egypt.
Und er wohnte in der Wüste Paran, und seine Mutter nahm ihm ein Weib aus Ägypten.
22 Around this time Abimelech came with Phicol, the commander of his army, to see Abraham. “God blesses you in everything you do,” Abimelech said.
Zu derselben Zeit redete Abimelech und sein Feldhauptmann Pichol mit Abraham und sprach: Gott ist mit dir in allem, was du tust.
23 “So swear to me right here and now that you won't betray me, my children, or my descendants. In the same way I've proved I'm trustworthy to you, do the same to me and my country where you're currently living.”
So schwöre mir nun hier bei Gott, daß du weder an mir, noch an meinen Kindern, noch an meinen Kindeskindern treulos handeln, sondern die Freundschaft, die ich dir bewiesen habe, auch an mir beweisen willst und an dem Lande, darinnen du ein Fremdling bist.
24 “I so swear,” Abraham replied.
Da sprach Abraham: Ich will schwören!
25 Then Abraham raised an issue with Abimelech of a well that Abimelech's servants had taken by force.
Und Abraham rechtete mit Abimelech um des Wasserbrunnens willen, den Abimelechs Knechte mit Gewalt genommen hatten.
26 “I don't know who did this, and you didn't mention it before. I haven't heard anything about it until today,” Abimelech responded.
Da antwortete Abimelech: Ich weiß nichts davon; wer hat das getan? Du hast mir gar nichts angezeigt, und ich habe auch nichts davon gehört bis auf diesen Tag!
27 Then Abraham gave Abimelech some of his sheep and cattle, and the two of them made an agreement.
Da nahm Abraham Schafe und Rinder und gab sie Abimelech, und sie machten beide einen Bund miteinander.
28 Abraham also separated out seven female lambs from the flock.
Und Abraham stellte sieben Lämmer besonders.
29 “What are these seven female lambs for that you've separated from the flock?” Abimelech asked.
Da sprach Abimelech zu Abraham: Was sollen die sieben Lämmer hier, die du besonders gestellt hast?
30 “I'm giving you these seven female lambs in return for your admission that I dug this well,” Abraham replied.
Er antwortete: Du sollst sieben Lämmer von meiner Hand nehmen, damit sie mir zum Zeugnis seien, daß ich diesen Brunnen gegraben habe!
31 That's why he called the place Beersheba, because the two of them swore and oath to each other.
Daher wird der Ort Beer-Seba genannt, weil sie beide daselbst einander geschworen haben.
32 After making the agreement at Beersheba, Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army left and went home to the country of the Philistines.
Als sie aber den Bund zu Beer-Seba geschlossen, machten sich Abimelech und Pichol, sein Feldhauptmann, auf und zogen wieder in der Philister Land.
33 Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and there he worshiped the Lord, the Eternal God.
Abraham aber pflanzte eine Tamariske zu Beer-Seba und rief daselbst den Namen des HERRN, des ewigen Gottes, an.
34 Abraham lived in the country of the Philistines for a long time.
Und Abraham hielt sich lange Zeit als Fremdling im Lande der Philister auf.
