Genesis 17
1 When Abram was 99, the Lord appeared to him and told him, “I am God Almighty. Live in my presence and don't do wrong.
Und Abram war neunzig Jahre und neun Jahre alt, und Jehovah erschien dem Abram und sprach zu ihm: Ich bin Gott Schaddai, wandle vor Mir und sei untadelig.
2 I will make my agreement between me and you, and I will give you many, many descendants.”
Und Ich will Meinen Bund geben zwischen Mir und zwischen dir und dich gar sehr vermehren.
3 Abram bowed down with his face to the ground, and God told him,
Und Abram fiel auf sein Angesicht; und Gott redete mit ihm und sprach:
4 “Listen! This is the agreement I'm making with you. You will be the father of many nations,
Ich, siehe Mein Bund ist mit dir; und du sollst der Vater einer Menge Völkerschaften werden.
5 so your name won't be Abram any longer. Instead, your name will be Abraham because I'm going to make you the father of many nations.
Und deinen Namen soll man fortan nicht mehr Abram nennen, sondern dein Name soll Abraham sein; denn zum Vater einer Menge von Völkerschaften gebe Ich dich.
6 I will make sure you have a large number of descendants. They will become many nations, and some of their kings will also come from your line.
Und Ich will dich gar sehr fruchtbar machen, und gebe dich zu Völkerschaften, und Könige sollen von dir ausgehen.
7 I promise to continue my agreement with you, and with your descendants who come after you, for generations to come. This is an eternal agreement. I will always be your God, and the God of your descendants.
Und Ich richte auf Meinen Bund zwischen Mir und zwischen dir und zwischen deinem Samen nach dir für ihre Geschlechter, als einen ewigen Bund, dir und deinem Samen nach dir Gott zu sein;
8 I will give you and your descendants the whole country of Canaan—where you've been living as a foreigner—as land to own forever, and I will be their God.”
Und Ich gebe dir und deinem Samen nach dir das Land deiner Wanderungen, das ganze Land Kanaan, zum ewigen Eigentum, und werde ihnen Gott sein.
9 Then God told Abraham, “Your part is to keep my agreement—you and your descendants for generations to come.
Und Gott sprach zu Abraham: Du aber, du sollst Meinen Bund halten, du und dein Same nach dir, nach ihren Geschlechtern.
10 This is my agreement with you and your descendants who come after you, the agreement you are to keep: every male among you shall be circumcised.
Das ist Mein Bund, den ihr halten sollt zwischen Mir und zwischen euch und zwischen deinem Samen nach dir. Beschnitten werde euch alles Männliche!
11 You are to circumcise your foreskin, and this will be the sign of the agreement between me and you.
Und ihr sollet beschnitten werden am Fleische eurer Vorhaut; und das sei zum Zeichen des Bundes zwischen Mir und zwischen euch!
12 From now and for all generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised. This includes not only your sons but also those born in your household or bought from foreigners.
Und acht Tage alt werde von euch alles Männliche beschnitten in euern Geschlechtern, der im Hause geboren und der mit Silber erworben ist von irgendwelchem Sohne des Auslands, der nicht deines Samens ist.
13 You must circumcise those born in your household or bought from foreigners as a sign in your bodies of my eternal agreement.
Gewißlich soll beschnitten werden, wer in deinem Hause geboren und wer mit deinem Silber erworben ist. Und Mein Bund soll in eurem Fleische sein zum ewigen Bunde.
14 Any uncircumcised male who refuses circumcision will be excluded from his people because he has broken my agreement.”
Und der unbeschnittene Männliche, der sich nicht das Fleisch seiner Vorhaut beschneiden ließ, dessen Seele soll ausgerottet werden von seinen Völkern, er hat Meinen Bund zunichte gemacht.
15 Then God told Abraham, “Now about Sarai your wife. Don't call her Sarai any longer. Instead, her name will be Sarah.
Und Gott sprach zu Abraham: Dein Weib Sarai - ihren Namen sollst du nicht Sarai nennen, sondern Sarah soll ihr Name sein.
16 I will bless her and I promise to give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will become the mother of nations, and kings will be among her descendants.”
Und Ich segne sie, und gebe dir auch von ihr einen Sohn; und Ich segne sie, daß sie zu Völkerschaften werde; Könige von Völkern sollen aus ihr werden.
17 Abraham bowed down with his face to the ground. But inside he was laughing, asking himself, “How on earth could I have a son at the age of one hundred? How could Sarah have a child when she is ninety?”
Und Abraham fiel auf sein Angesicht und lachte, und sprach in seinem Herzen: Soll mir, dem hundert Jahre alten, geboren werden, und Sarah soll, neunzig Jahre alt, gebären?
18 Abraham said to God, “May Ishmael always live under your blessing!”
Und Abraham sprach zu Gott: Oh, möchte Ismael leben vor dir!
19 “No, it's your wife Sarah who is going to have a son for you!” God replied. “You are to call him Isaac. I will keep my agreement with him and his descendants as an eternal agreement.
Und Gott sprach: Fürwahr, dein Weib Sarah wird dir einen Sohn gebären, und du sollst seinen Namen Isaak nennen, und Ich werde Meinen Bund mit ihm aufrichten zu einem Bunde der Ewigkeit für seinen Samen nach ihm.
20 Now about Ishmael. I heard what you said, and I will also bless him. I will make sure he has a great many descendants. He will be the father of twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation.
Und wegen Ismael habe Ich dich erhört. Siehe, Ich segne ihn, und mach ihn fruchtbar und mehre ihn sehr, sehr. Zwölf Fürsten wird er zeugen, und zu einer großen Völkerschaft gebe Ich ihn.
21 But it's with Isaac that I will keep my agreement, the son Sarah will give birth to about this time next year.”
Aber Meinen Bund richte Ich mit Isaak auf, den Sarah dir um diese bestimmte Zeit im anderen Jahr gebären wird.
22 When God had finished speaking with Abraham he left him.
Und Er vollendete Seine Rede mit ihm, und Gott stieg auf von Abraham.
23 That day Abraham circumcised his son Ishmael as well as all those born in his household or purchased, in fact every male among the members of Abraham's household, just as God had told him.
Und Abraham nahm seinen Sohn Ismael und alle in seinem Haus Geborenen und alle mit seinem Silber Erworbenen, alles Männliche unter den Männern des Hauses Abrahams, und beschnitt das Fleisch ihrer Vorhaut an diesem selbigen Tage, wie Gott mit ihm geredet hatte.
24 Abraham was 99 when he was circumcised,
Und Abraham war neunundneunzig Jahre alt, als er das Fleisch seiner Vorhaut beschnitt.
25 and his son Ishmael was thirteen.
Und Sein Sohn Ismael war dreizehn Jahre alt, als ihm das Fleisch seiner Vorhaut beschnitten wurde.
26 Both Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised on the same day.
An diesem selbigen Tage wurde Abraham und sein Sohn Ismael beschnitten.
27 All the males in Abraham's household, including those born in his household or purchased from foreigners, were circumcised with him.
Und alle Männer seines Hauses, der im Haus Geborene und der von dem Sohne des Auslandes mit Silber Erworbene, wurden mit ihm beschnitten.
