Genesis 11
1 At that time the whole world spoke just one language and used words with the same meaning.
१आता पृथ्वीवरील सर्व लोक एकच भाषेचा वापर करत होते आणि शब्द समान होते.
2 As they moved east they discovered a plain in the land of Shinar so they settled there.
२ते पूर्वेकडे प्रवास करत असताना त्यांना शिनार देशात एक मैदान लागले आणि त्यांनी तेथेच वस्ती केली.
3 They said to one another, “Come on, let's make some bricks and bake them with fire.” (They used brick instead of stone, and tar instead of cement).
३ते एकमेकांना म्हणाले, “चला, आपण विटा करू व त्या पक्क्या भाजू.” त्यांच्याकडे बांधकामासाठी दगडाऐवजी विटा आणि चुन्याऐवजी डांबर होते.
4 Then they said, “Now let's build a city for ourselves with a tower whose top reaches the heavens. That way we'll gain a great reputation and we won't end up being scattered all over the world.”
४मग लोक म्हणाले, “चला, आपण आपल्यासाठी नगर बांधू आणि ज्याचे शिखर आकाशापर्यंत पोहचेल असा उंच बुरूज बांधू, आणि आपण आपले नाव होईल असे करू या. आपण जर असे केले नाही, तर पृथ्वीच्या पाठीवर आपली पांगापांग होईल.”
5 But the Lord came down to take a look at the city and the tower that the people were building.
५आदामाच्या वंशजांनी बांधलेले ते नगर व तो बुरूज पाहण्यासाठी म्हणून परमेश्वर खाली उतरून आला.
6 The Lord said, “Look! These people are united and they all speak one language. If this is what they can do now when they're just getting started, nothing will be impossible for them when they all put their minds to it!
६परमेश्वर देव म्हणाला, “पाहा, हे सर्व लोक एक असून, एकच भाषा बोलतात आणि ही तर त्यांची सुरुवात आहे! लवकरच, जे काही करण्याचा त्यांचा हेतू आहे ते करणे त्यांना मुळीच अशक्य होणार नाही.
7 We need to go down and mix up their language and make it confused so they won't be able to understand what they're saying to one other.”
७चला आपण खाली जाऊन त्यांच्या भाषेचा घोटाळा करून टाकू. मग त्यांना एकमेकांचे बोलणे समजणार नाही.”
8 The Lord sent them away from there and scattered them all over the world, and they gave up building the city.
८मग परमेश्वराने पृथ्वीभर त्यांची पांगापांग केली आणि म्हणून नगर बांधण्याचे काम त्यांनी थांबवले.
9 That's why it was called Babel, because the Lord made the language of the world confused.
९त्यामुळे त्या ठिकाणाचे नाव बाबेल पडले, कारण तेथे परमेश्वराने सर्व पृथ्वीच्या भाषेचा घोटाळा केला आणि परमेश्वराने त्यांना तेथून सर्व पृथ्वीच्या पाठीवर पांगविले.
10 The following is the genealogy of Shem. When Shem was 100, he had Arphaxad. This was two years after the flood.
१०ही शेमाची वंशावळ: जलप्रलयानंतर दोन वर्षांनी शेम शंभर वर्षांचा झाला होता आणि तो अर्पक्षदाचा पिता झाला.
11 Shem lived another 500 years after Arphaxad was born and had other sons and daughters.
११अर्पक्षदाला जन्म दिल्यानंतर शेम पाचशे वर्षे जगला, तो आणखी मुले व मुलींचा पिता झाला.
12 When Arphaxad was 35, he had Shelah.
१२अर्पक्षद पस्तीस वर्षांचा झाला तेव्हा त्याने शेलहाला जन्म दिला.
13 Arphaxad lived another 403 years after Shelah was born and had other sons and daughters.
१३शेलहाला जन्म दिल्यानंतर अर्पक्षद चारशे तीन वर्षे जगला व त्याने आणखी मुलांना व मुलींना जन्म दिला.
14 When Shelah was 30, he had Eber.
१४जेव्हा शेलह तीस वर्षांचा झाला तेव्हा त्याने एबरला जन्म दिला;
15 Shelah lived another 403 years after Eber was born and had other sons and daughters.
१५एबरला जन्म दिल्यावर शेलह चारशे तीन वर्षे जगला व त्याने आणखी मुलांना व मुलींना जन्म दिला.
16 When Eber was 34, he had Peleg.
१६एबर चौतीस वर्षांचा झाला तेव्हा त्याने पेलेगाला जन्म दिला.
17 Eber lived another 430 years after Peleg was born and had other sons and daughters.
१७पेलेग झाल्यावर एबर चारशे तीस वर्षे जगला व त्याने आणखी मुलांना व मुलींना जन्म दिला.
18 When Peleg was 30, he had Reu.
१८पेलेग तीस वर्षांचा झाला, तेव्हा त्याने रऊ याला जन्म दिला.
19 Peleg lived another 209 years after Reu was born and had other sons and daughters.
१९रऊ याला जन्म दिल्यावर पेलेग दोनशे नऊ वर्षे जगला व त्याने आणखी मुलांना व मुलींना जन्म दिला.
20 When Reu was 32, he had Serug.
२०रऊ बत्तीस वर्षांचा झाला, तेव्हा त्याने सरुगाला जन्म दिला.
21 Reu lived another 207 years after Serug was born and had other sons and daughters.
२१सरुगाला जन्म दिल्यावर रऊ दोनशे सात वर्षे जगला व त्याने आणखी मुलांना व मुलींना जन्म दिला.
22 When Serug was 30, he had Nahor.
२२सरुग तीस वर्षांचा झाला, तेव्हा त्याने नाहोराला जन्म दिला.
23 Serug lived another 200 years after Nahor was born and had other sons and daughters.
२३नाहोराला जन्म दिल्यावर सरुग दोनशे वर्षे जगला आणि त्याने आणखी मुलांना व मुलींना जन्म दिला.
24 When Nahor was 29, he had Terah.
२४नाहोर एकोणतीस वर्षांचा झाला, तेव्हा त्याने तेरहाला जन्म दिला.
25 Nahor lived another 119 years after Terah was born and had other sons and daughters.
२५तेरहाला जन्म दिल्यावर नाहोर आणखी एकशे एकोणीस वर्षे जगला आणि त्याने मुलांना व मुलींना जन्म दिला.
26 When Terah was 70, he had Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
२६तेरह सत्तर वर्षांचा झाला, तेव्हा त्याने अब्राम, नाहोर व हारान यांना जन्म दिला.
27 The following is the genealogy of Terah. Terah was the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran was the father of Lot.
२७तेरहाची वंशावळ ही: तेरहाने अब्राम, नाहोर व हारान यांना जन्म दिला. हारानाने लोटाला जन्म दिला.
28 However, Haran died while his father, Terah, was still alive, in Ur of the Chaldeans, the land of his birth.
२८हारान, आपला पिता तेरह जिवंत असताना आपली जन्मभूमी खास्द्यांचे ऊर येथे मरण पावला.
29 Abram and Nahor both got married. Abram's wife was named Sarai, and Nahor's wife was named Milcah. (She was the daughter of Haran, who was the father of both Milcah and Iscah).
२९अब्राम व नाहोर या दोघांनीही लग्न केले. अब्रामाच्या पत्नीचे नाव साराय आणि नाहोरच्या पत्नीचे नाव मिल्का होते. मिल्का ही हारानाची मुलगी होती. हा हारान मिल्का व इस्का यांचा पिता होता.
30 Sarai wasn't able to become pregnant and so had no children.
३०साराय वांझ होती, तिला मूलबाळ नव्हते.
31 Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot, (who was the son of Haran), his daughter-in-law Sarai, (the wife of his son Abram), and left Ur of the Chaldeans to move to the land of Canaan. They got as far as Haran and settled there.
३१मग तेरह आपले कुटुंब घेऊन म्हणजे आपला मुलगा अब्राम, हारानचा मुलगा लोट, आणि आपली सून म्हणजे अब्रामाची पत्नी साराय यांना बरोबर घेऊन खास्द्यांचे ऊर येथून कनान देशास जाण्यासाठी निघाला आणि प्रवास करीत ते हारान प्रदेशापर्यंत येऊन तेथे राहिले.
32 Terah lived for 205 years and died in Haran.
३२तेरह दोनशे पाच वर्षे जगला; त्यानंतर तो हारान येथे मरण पावला.
