Genesis 1
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
元始に神天地を創造たまへり
2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the surface of the deep. The Spirit of God moved over the surface of the waters.
地は定形なく曠空くして黒暗淵の面にあり神の靈水の面を覆たりき
3 God said, “Let there be light!” and there was light.
神光あれと言たまひければ光ありき
4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
神光を善と觀たまへり神光と暗を分ちたまへり
5 God called the light “day,” and he called the darkness “night.” So there was evening, and then the morning, making day one.
神光を晝と名け暗を夜と名けたまへり夕あり朝ありき是首の日なり
6 God said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters to divide the waters.”
神言たまひけるは水の中に穹蒼ありて水と水とを分つべし
7 So God made an expanse to divide the waters that were above from the waters that were below. And that's what happened.
神穹蒼を作りて穹蒼の下の水と穹蒼の上の水とを判ちたまへり即ち斯なりぬ
8 God called the expanse, “sky.” So there was evening, and then the morning, making day two.
神穹蒼を天と名けたまへり夕あり朝ありき是二日なり
9 God said, “Let the waters below the sky collect together in one place so that the land may appear.” And so it was.
神言たまひけるは天の下の水は一處に集りて乾ける土顯べしと即ち斯なりぬ
10 God called the land “earth” and the waters “seas.” God saw that it was good.
神乾ける土を地と名け水の集合るを海と名けたまへり神之を善と觀たまへり
11 God said, “Let the earth produce vegetation—plants that produce seeds and trees that produce seeded fruit—each one according to its own kind.” And that's what happened.
神言たまひけるは地は青草と實蓏を生ずる草蔬と其類に從ひ果を結びみづから核をもつ所の果を結ぶ樹を地に發出すべしと即ち斯なりぬ
12 The earth produced vegetation—plants that produce seeds and trees that produce seeded fruit—each one according to its own kind. God saw that it was good.
地青草と其類に從ひ實蓏を生ずる草蔬と其類に從ひ果を結てみづから核をもつ所の樹を發出せり神これを善と觀たまへり
13 So there was evening, and then the morning, making day three.
夕あり朝ありき是三日なり
14 God said, “Let there be lights in the sky to separate day from night, and to provide a way to mark seasons, days, and years.
神言たまひけるは天の穹蒼に光明ありて晝と夜とを分ち又天象のため時節のため日のため年のために成べし
15 They shall be lights in the sky to shine on the earth.” And that's what happened.
又天の穹蒼にありて地を照す光となるべしと即ち斯なりぬ
16 God created two great lights: the larger one in charge of the day, and the smaller one in charge of the night. He created the stars too.
神二の巨なる光を造り大なる光に晝を司どらしめ小き光に夜を司どらしめたまふまた星を造りたまへり
17 God placed these lights in the sky to shine upon the earth,
神これを天の穹蒼に置て地を照さしめ
18 to be in charge of the day and in charge of the night, and to separate light from darkness. God saw that it was good.
晝と夜を司どらしめ光と暗を分たしめたまふ神これを善と觀たまへり
19 So there was evening, and then the morning, making day four.
夕あり朝ありき是四日なり
20 God said, “Let the waters be full of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the sky.”
神云ひたまひけるは水には生物饒に生じ鳥は天の穹蒼の面に地の上に飛べしと
21 So God created huge sea creatures and all the living things that swim and fill the waters, each one according to its own kind; and every bird that flies, each one according to its own kind. God saw that it was good.
神巨なる魚と水に饒に生じて動く諸の生物を其類に從ひて創造り又羽翼ある諸の鳥を其類に從ひて創造りたまへり神之を善と觀たまへり
22 God blessed them and said, “Reproduce and increase, and fill the waters of the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”
神之を祝して曰く生よ繁息よ海の水に充牣よ又禽鳥は地に蕃息よと
23 So there was evening, and then the morning, making day five.
夕あり朝ありき是五日なり
24 God said, “Let the land produce living creatures, each one according to its own kind—the livestock, the creatures that run along the ground, and the wild animals, each one according to its own kind.” And that's what happened.
神言給ひけるは地は生物を其類に從て出し家畜と昆蟲と地の獸を其類に從て出すべしと即ち斯なりぬ
25 God made the wild animals, the livestock, and the creatures that run along the ground, all according to their own kind. God saw that it was good.
神地の獸を其類に從て造り家畜を其類に從て造り地の諸の昆蟲を其類に從て造り給へり神之を善と觀給へり
26 God said, “Let us make human beings in our image who are like us. They will have authority over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over the whole of the earth and every creature that moves on it.”
神言給けるは我儕に象りて我儕の像の如くに我儕人を造り之に海の魚と天空の鳥と家畜と全地と地に匍ふ所の諸の昆蟲を治めんと
27 So God created human beings in his own image. He created them in the image of God. He created them male and female.
神其像の如くに人を創造たまへり即ち神の像の如くに之を創造之を男と女に創造たまへり
28 God blessed them and told them, “Reproduce, increase, and spread throughout the earth and control it; exercise authority over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the earth.”
神彼等を祝し神彼等に言たまひけるは生よ蕃殖よ地に滿盈よ之を服從せよ又海の魚と天空の鳥と地に動く所の諸の生物を治めよ
29 God said, “Look, I'm giving you as your food every seed-bearing plant anywhere on earth, and every tree that produces fruit with seeds.
神言たまひけるは視よ我全地の面にある實蓏のなる諸の草蔬と核ある木果の結る諸の樹とを汝等に與ふこれは汝らの糧となるべし
30 I'm giving all the green plants to all the land animals, to the birds, and to every creature that moves on the earth—to every living thing.” And that's what happened.
又地の諸の獸と天空の諸の鳥および地に匍ふ諸の物等凡そ生命ある者には我食物として諸の青き草を與ふと即ち斯なりぬ
31 God saw everything that he had created, and yes, it was very good. So there was evening, and then the morning, making day six.
神其造りたる諸の物を視たまひけるに甚だ善りき夕あり朝ありき是六日なり
