< Ezekiel 10 >
1 I looked up and saw what looked like a throne made of lapis lazuli beyond the expanse, way above the heads of the cherubim.
Ngakhangela ngabona okwakufana lesihlalo sobukhosi esenziwe ngesafire ngaphezu komkhathi owawungaphezu kwamakhanda amakherubhi.
2 Speaking from there the Lord told the man in linen, “Go in between the wheels underneath the cherubim. Collect as many burning coals as you can. Carry them from among the cherubim and scatter them all over the city.” I watched as he went in.
UThixo wathi emuntwini owayegqoke ilineni, “Ngena phakathi kwamavili ngaphansi kwamakherubhi. Gcwalisa izandla zakho ngamalahle atshisayo avela kumakherubhi uwahaze phezu kwedolobho.” Ngathi ngisabukele wangena.
3 The cherubim were standing on the south side of the Temple when the man went in. A cloud filled the inner court.
Amakherubhi ayesemi ngaseningizimu kwethempeli lapho umuntu lowo engena phakathi, iyezi lagcwala iguma langaphakathi.
4 Then the Lord's glory rose up from above the cherubim and moved to the entrance of the Temple. The cloud filled the Temple, and the brightness of the Lord's glory filled the courtyard.
Lapho-ke inkazimulo kaThixo yaphakama isuka ngaphezu kwamakherubhi yasudukela ngasemnyango wethempeli. Iyezi lagcwala ethempelini, kwathi iguma lagcwala ukukhanya kwenkazimulo kaThixo.
5 The noise made by the cherubim's wings could even be heard in the outer courtyard, and sounded like the voice of God Almighty.
Umdumo wezimpiko zamakherubhi wawuzwakala khatshana le egumeni langaphandle, unjengelizwi likaNkulunkulu uSomandla nxa ekhuluma.
6 When the Lord ordered the man in linen, “Go and get some fire from in between the wheels, from among the cherubim,” the man went in and stood beside one of the wheels.
Kwathi lapho uThixo elaya umuntu owayegqoke ilineni esithi, “Thatha umlilo phakathi kwamavili, phakathi kwamakherubhi,” umuntu lowo wangena wema phansi kwevili.
7 Then one of the cherubim reached out and took some of the fire among them. He handed it to the man in linen, who took it and left.
Elinye lamakherubhi lelulela isandla salo emlilweni owawuphakathi kwawo. Lawokha lawubeka ezandleni zomuntu owayegqoke ilineni, owawuthathayo wasephuma.
8 (All the cherubim had what looked like human hands under their wings.)
(Ngaphansi kwempiko zamakherubhi kwakubonakala okwakungathi yizandla zomuntu.)
9 I saw four wheels next to the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub. The wheels shone like topaz.
Ngakhangela, ngabona amavili amane eceleni kwamakherubhi, lilinye eceleni kwekherubhi ngalinye, amavili ayecazimula njengethophazi.
10 All four wheels looked the same, and had a wheel within a wheel, set crossways.
Ukukhangeleka kwawo, amane awo ayekhanya efanana; elinye lelinye lingathi livili elalinqume phakathi kwelinye.
11 The cherubim could go in any direction they faced, moving without turning.
Ekuhambeni kwawo, ayesiya loba kuluphi lwezinhlangothi ezine lapho amakherubhi ayekhangele khona; amavili ayengaphenduki lapho amakherubhi ehamba. Amakherubhi ayesiya loba kuluphi uhlangothi ikhanda elalikhangele kulo, kungekho kuphenduka ekuhambeni kwawo.
12 The whole of their bodies, including their backs, hands, and wings, were covered in eyes, as were all four wheels.
Imizimba yawo yonke, kugoqela imihlane yawo, lezandla zawo kanye lempiko zawo, kwakugcwele amehlo, njengoba ayenjalo lamavili awo amane.
13 I heard the wheels being referred to as “the chariot wheels.”
Amavili ngezwa kuthiwa athiwa “ngamavili atshibilika ngesiqubu esikhulu.”
14 Each of them had four faces: the first face was a cherub's face, the second a man's face, the third a lion's face, and the fourth an eagle's face.
Ikherubhi ngalinye lalilobuso obune: Obunye ubuso babungobekherubhi, obesibili bungobomuntu, obesithathu bungobesilwane, obesine bungobengqungqulu.
15 Then the cherubim rose up in the air. They were the beings I'd seen beside the River Kebar.
Amakherubhi aphakama aya phezulu. La ayeyizidalwa eziphilayo engangizibone phansi komfula uKhebhari.
16 When the cherubim moved, the wheels moved alongside them. Even when they opened their wings to take off, the wheels stayed beside them.
Kwathi lapho amakherubhi ehamba, lamavili emaceleni awo ahamba; njalo kwathi lapho amakherubhi eselula impiko zawo ukuba aphakame esuka phansi, amavili kawasasukanga emaceleni awo.
17 When the cherubim stopped, the wheels stopped too. When they took off, the wheels did too, because the spirit of the living creatures was in them.
Njalo kwathi lapho amakherubhi esima, amavili lawo ema, kuthi lapho amakherubhi ephakama, amavili lawo aphakame, ngoba umoya wezidalwa eziphilayo wawukuwo.
18 Then the glory of the Lord left the entrance to the Temple and stopped above the cherubim.
Inkazimulo kaThixo yasuka ngasemnyango wethempeli yayakuma ngaphezu kwamakherubhi.
19 As I watched, the cherubim lifted their wings and took off, with the wheels alongside them. They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the Lord's Temple, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
Amakherubhi elula amaphiko awo ngikhangele, aphakama esuka phansi, njalo kwathi lapho esehamba amavili ahamba lawo. Ema ekungeneni kwesango langasempumalanga lendlu kaThixo, njalo inkazimulo kaNkulunkulu ka-Israyeli yayingaphezu kwawo.
20 These were the beings I had seen beneath the God of Israel by the River Kebar. I knew that they were cherubim.
Lezi kwakuyizidalwa eziphilayo engangizibone ngaphansi kukaNkulunkulu ka-Israyeli ngasemfuleni uKhebhari, ngananzelela ukuthi kwakungamakherubhi.
21 Each had four faces and four wings and had what looked like human hands under their wings.
Lelo lalelo lalilobuso obune lamaphiko amane, njalo ngaphansi kwamaphiko kwakulokwakungathi yizandla zomuntu.
22 Their faces looked like the faces I had seen by the River Kebar. Each of them moved directly ahead.
Ubuso bawo babufanana lobalawana engawabona ngasemfuleni uKhebhari. Lelo lalelo lahamba liqonde phambili.
