Exodus 5
1 After this Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and told him, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says, ‘Let my people go so they can hold a religious festival for me in the desert.’”
൧അതിന്‍റെശേഷം മോശെയും അഹരോനും ഫറവോനോട്: “മരുഭൂമിയിൽ എനിക്ക് ഉത്സവം നടത്തേണ്ടതിന് എന്റെ ജനത്തെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കണം എന്ന് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
2 “Who is this ‘Lord’ that I should listen to his request to let Israel go?” Pharaoh replied. “I don't know the Lord and I certainly won't let Israel leave!”
൨അതിന് ഫറവോൻ: “യിസ്രായേലിനെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്ക് കേൾക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവൻ ആർ? ഞാൻ യഹോവയെ അറിയുകയില്ല; ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിനെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കയുമില്ല” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
3 “The God of the Hebrews came to us,” they added. “Please allow us to go a three days journey into the desert and offer sacrifices to the Lord our God. Otherwise he'll kill us by disease or by the sword.”
൩അതിന് അവർ: “എബ്രായരുടെ ദൈവം ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു; അവൻ മഹാമാരിയാലോ വാളാലോ ഞങ്ങളെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ഞങ്ങൾ മൂന്ന് ദിവസത്തെ വഴി മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പോയി, ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയ്ക്ക് യാഗം കഴിക്കട്ടെ” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
4 “Moses and Aaron, why are you trying to take people away from their assigned labor?” Pharaoh asked. “Get back to work!” he ordered.
൪ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ രാജാവ് അവരോട്: “മോശേ, അഹരോനേ, നിങ്ങൾ ജനങ്ങളുടെ വേല മിനക്കെടുത്തുന്നത് എന്തിനാണ്? നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ വേലയ്ക്ക് പോകുവിൻ” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
5 “Look here,” he went on. “There are many of your people here in our country and you are preventing them from doing their assigned labor.”
൫“ദേശത്ത് ജനം ഇപ്പോൾ വളരെ ആകുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ അവരെ അവരുടെ ഊഴിയവേല മിനക്കെടുത്തുന്നു” എന്നും ഫറവോൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
6 That very day he ordered the slave drivers and those in charge of the people:
൬അന്ന് ഫറവോൻ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഊഴിയവിചാരകന്മാരോടും പ്രമാണികളോടും ഇപ്രകാരം കല്പിച്ചു:
7 “Don't give them any more straw to make bricks like before. Have them go and collect the straw themselves.
൭“ഇഷ്ടിക ഉണ്ടാക്കുവാൻ ജനത്തിന് മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ ഇനി വൈക്കോൽ കൊടുക്കരുത്; അവർ തന്നെ പോയി വൈക്കോൽ ശേഖരിക്കട്ടെ.
8 But still make them produce the same quantity of bricks as before. They're lazy people—that's why they're calling out, asking, ‘Please let us go and offer sacrifices to our god.
൮എങ്കിലും ഇഷ്ടികയുടെ കണക്ക് മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ തന്നെ ആയിരിക്കണം; ഒട്ടും കുറയ്ക്കരുത്. അവർ മടിയന്മാർ; അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു: ‘ഞങ്ങൾ പോയി ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന് യാഗം കഴിക്കട്ടെ’ എന്ന് നിലവിളിക്കുന്നത്.
9 Make their work harder so they can get on with it and not pay any attention to all these lies!”
൯അവരുടെ വേല അതിഭാരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ; അവർ അതിൽ കഷ്ടപ്പെടട്ടെ;
10 So the slave drivers and those in charge went out and told the people, “This is what Pharaoh has ordered: ‘I won't give you any more straw.
൧൦അവർ വ്യാജവാക്കുകൾ കേൾക്കരുത്. അങ്ങനെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഊഴിയവിചാരകന്മാരും പ്രമാണികളും ചെന്ന് ജനത്തോട്: “നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വൈക്കോൽ തരുകയില്ല;
11 Go and get straw for yourselves wherever you can find it, because your work quota won't be reduced.”
൧൧നിങ്ങൾതന്നെ പോയി കിട്ടുന്നിടത്തുനിന്ന് വൈക്കോൽ ശേഖരിപ്പിൻ; എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങളുടെ വേലയിൽ ഒട്ടും കുറയ്ക്കകയില്ല” എന്ന് ഫറവോൻ കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
12 So the people went all over Egypt collecting stubble for straw.
൧൨അങ്ങനെ ജനം വൈക്കോലിന് പകരം താളടി ശേഖരിക്കുവാൻ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ എല്ലായിടവും ചിതറി നടന്നു.
13 The slave drivers kept on forcing them, saying, “You still have to do the same work as you did when you had straw provided!”
൧൩ഊഴിയവിചാരകന്മാർ അവരെ നിർബ്ബന്ധിച്ച്: “വൈക്കോൽ നൽകിയപ്പോൾ ചെയ്തിരുന്നതത്രയും വേല ദിവസവും തികക്കണം” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
14 They beat the Israelite supervisors they had put in charge, shouting at them, “Why haven't you met your quota of bricks as you did before?”
൧൪ഫറവോന്റെ ഊഴിയവിചാരകന്മാർ യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളുടെമേൽ ആക്കിയിരുന്ന പ്രമാണികളെ അടിച്ചു: “നിങ്ങൾ ഇന്നലെയും ഇന്നും മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ ഇഷ്ടിക നിർമ്മിക്കാഞ്ഞത് എന്ത്?” എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു.
15 The Israelite supervisors went to Pharaoh to complain, saying, “Why are you treating us your servants like this?
൧൫അതുകൊണ്ട് യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളുടെ പ്രമാണികൾ ചെന്ന് ഫറവോനോട് നിലവിളിച്ചു; “അടിയങ്ങളോട് ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്ത്?
16 You don't give us any straw but your slave drivers demand that we make bricks, and they beat us! Your people are treating us badly!”
൧൬അടിയങ്ങൾക്ക് വൈക്കോൽ തരാതെ ഇഷ്ടിക ഉണ്ടാക്കുവിൻ എന്ന് അവർ പറയുന്നു; അടിയങ്ങളെ തല്ലുന്നു; അത് നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു പാപമാകുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
17 “No, you're just lazy, lazy people!” Pharaoh replied. “That's why you keep on asking, ‘Please let us go and offer sacrifices to the Lord.’
൧൭അതിന് അവൻ: “മടിയന്മാരാകുന്നു നിങ്ങൾ, മടിയന്മാർ; അതുകൊണ്ട്: ‘ഞങ്ങൾ പോയി യഹോവയ്ക്ക് യാഗം കഴിക്കട്ടെ’ എന്ന് നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നു.
18 Now get out of here and go back to work! You won't be given any straw but you'll still have to produce the full quota of bricks!”
൧൮പോയി വേല ചെയ്യുവിൻ; വൈക്കോൽ തരുകയില്ല, ഇഷ്ടിക കണക്കുപോലെ ഏല്പിക്കുകയും വേണം” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചു.
19 The Israelite supervisors realized they were in trouble when they were told, “You must not reduce the daily production of bricks.”
൧൯“ദിവസംതോറുമുള്ള ഇഷ്ടികക്കണക്കിൽ ഒന്നും കുറയ്ക്കരുത്” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചപ്പോൾ തങ്ങൾ വിഷമത്തിലായി എന്ന് യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളുടെ പ്രമാണികൾ കണ്ടു.
20 They went over to Moses and Aaron who were waiting for them after their meeting with Pharaoh,
൨൦അവർ ഫറവോനെ വിട്ട് പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ മോശെയും അഹരോനും വഴിയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടു,
21 and said, “May the Lord see what you have done and judge you accordingly! You have made us like a bad smell to Pharaoh and his officials. You have put a sword in their hands to kill us!”
൨൧അവരോട്: “നിങ്ങൾ ഫറവോന്റെയും അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ ഞങ്ങളെ നിന്ദിതരാക്കി. ഞങ്ങളെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ അവരുടെ കയ്യിൽ വാൾ കൊടുത്തതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ നോക്കി ന്യായം വിധിക്കട്ടെ” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
22 Moses went back to the Lord and complained, “Why have you caused all this trouble for your own people, Lord? Was this why you sent me?
൨൨അപ്പോൾ മോശെ യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്: “കർത്താവേ, നീ ഈ ജനത്തിന് ദോഷം വരുത്തിയത് എന്ത്? നീ എന്നെ അയച്ചത് എന്തിന്?
23 Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak for you, he has been even harder on your people, and you haven't done anything to save them!”
൨൩ഞാൻ നിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ സംസാരിപ്പാൻ ഫറവോന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നത് മുതൽ അവൻ ഈ ജനത്തോട് ദോഷം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ജനത്തെ നീ വിടുവിച്ചതുമില്ല” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
