< Exodus 28 >
1 Have your brother Aaron come to you, along with his sons Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. They of all the Israelites are to serve me as priests.
And you bring near to yourself Aaron brother your and sons his with him from among [the] people of Israel to serve as priest he to me Aaron Nadab and Abihu Eleazar and Ithamar [the] sons of Aaron.
2 You are to have holy clothing made for your brother Aaron to make him look splendid and dignified.
And you will make garments of holiness for Aaron brother your for glory and for beauty.
3 You are to give instructions to all the skilful workers, to those who have received from me their abilities, as to how to make clothing for Aaron's dedication, so that he can serve me as priest.
And you you will speak to all [people] skillful of heart which I have filled it a spirit of wisdom and they will make [the] garments of Aaron to consecrate him to serve as priest he to me.
4 These are the clothes for them to make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a pleated tunic, a turban, and a sash. These are the holy clothes they shall make for your brother Aaron and his sons so that they can serve me as priests.
And these [are] the garments which they will make a breastpiece and an ephod and a robe and a tunic of checkered work a turban and a sash and they will make garments of holiness for Aaron brother your and for sons his to serve as priest he to me.
5 The workers are to use gold thread, together with blue, purple, and crimson thread, and finely-spun linen.
And they they will take the gold and the violet stuff and the purple and [the] scarlet stuff of the scarlet and the fine linen.
6 They are to make the ephod of finely-woven linen embroidered with gold, and with blue, purple, and crimson thread, skillfully worked.
And they will make the ephod gold violet stuff and purple scarlet stuff of scarlet and fine linen twisted [the] work of a skillful worker.
7 Two shoulder pieces are to be attached to the front and back pieces.
Two shoulder-pieces joined it will be[long] to it to [the] two ends its and it will be joined together.
8 The waistband of the ephod is to be one piece made in the same way, using gold thread, with blue, purple, and crimson thread, and with finely-woven linen.
And [the] girdle of ephod its which [will be] on it [will be] like workmanship its from it it will be gold violet stuff and purple and scarlet stuff of scarlet and fine linen twisted.
9 Engrave on two onyx stones the names of the Israelite tribes,
And you will take two stones of onyx and you will engrave on them [the] names of [the] sons of Israel.
10 six names on one stone and six on the other, in birth order.
Six of names their [will be] on the stone one and [the] names of the six which remain over [will be] on the stone second according to genealogies their.
11 Engrave the names on the two stones the same way a jeweler engraves a personal seal. Then place the stones in ornamental gold settings.
[the] work of An engraver of stone [the] engravings of a seal you will engrave [the] two the stones on [the] names of [the] sons of Israel surrounded filigree settings of gold you will make them.
12 Attach both stones to the shoulder pieces of the ephod as reminders for the Israelite tribes. Aaron is to wear their names on his two shoulders to remind the Israelites that he represents them when he goes into the Lord's presence.
And you will put [the] two the stones on [the] shoulder-pieces of the ephod stones of reminder for [the] sons of Israel and he will bear Aaron names their before Yahweh on [the] two shoulder-pieces his to a reminder.
13 Make ornamental gold settings
And you will make filigree settings of gold.
14 and two braided chains of pure gold, and fasten these chains to the settings.
And two chains of gold pure twisted cords you will make them a work of cordage and you will put [the] chains of the cords on the filigree settings.
15 You are also to make a breastpiece for decisions in the same skilful way as the ephod, to be used in determining the Lord's will. Make it using gold thread, with blue, purple, and crimson thread, and with finely-woven linen.
And you will make a breastpiece of judgment [the] work of a skillful worker like [the] work of [the] ephod you will make it gold violet stuff and purple and scarlet stuff of scarlet and fine linen twisted you will make it.
16 It has to be square when folded, measuring around nine inches in length and width.
Square it will be folded double [will be] a span length its and [will be] a span breadth its.
17 Attach an arrangement of precious stones in four rows as follows. In the first row carnelian, peridot, and emerald.
And you will fill in it a setting of stone[s] four rows stone [will be] a row of a ruby a topaz and a beryl the row one.
18 In the second row turquoise, lapis lazuli, and sardonyx.
And the row second [will be] a turquoise a sapphire and an emerald.
19 In the third row jacinth, agate, and amethyst.
And the row third [will be] a jacinth an agate and an amethyst.
20 In the fourth row topaz, beryl, and jasper. Place these stones in ornamental gold settings.
And the row fourth [will be] a chrysolite and an onyx and a jasper set gold they will be in settings their.
21 Each of the twelve stones will be engraved like a personal seal with the name of one of the twelve Israelites tribes and will represent them.
And the stones they will be on [the] names of [the] sons of Israel two [plus] ten on names their [the] engravings of a seal each one on name its they will be for [the] two [plus] ten tribe[s].
22 Make cords of braided chains from pure gold to attach the breastpiece.
And you will make on the breastpiece chains of twisting a work of cordage gold pure.
23 Make two gold rings and fasten them to the two top corners of the breastpiece.
And you will make on the breastpiece two rings of gold and you will put [the] two the rings on [the] two [the] ends of the breastpiece.
24 Attach the two gold chains to the two gold rings on the corners of the breastpiece,
And you will put [the] two [the] cords of gold on [the] two the rings to [the] ends of the breastpiece.
25 and then fasten the opposite ends of the two chains to the ornamental gold settings on the shoulder pieces of the front side of the ephod.
And [the] two [the] ends of [the] two the cords you will put on [the] two the filigree settings and you will put [them] on [the] shoulder-pieces of the ephod to [the] front of face its.
26 Make two more gold rings and attach them to the two lower corners of the breastpiece, on the inside edge next to the ephod.
And you will make two rings of gold and you will put them on [the] two [the] ends of the breastpiece on edge its which [is] to [the] side of the ephod [the] inside towards.
27 Make two more gold rings and attach them to the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the front side of the ephod, near where it joins its woven waistband.
And you will make two rings of gold and you will put them on [the] two [the] shoulder-pieces of the ephod from to downwards from in front of face its close to joining its from above [the] girdle of the ephod.
28 Tie the rings of the breastpiece to the rings of the ephod with a cord of blue thread, so that the breastpiece won't come loose from the ephod.
So they may bind the breastpiece (from rings its *Q(K)*) to [the] rings of the ephod with a cord of violet stuff to be on [the] girdle of the ephod and not it will be displaced the breastpiece from on the ephod.
29 Like this, whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place, he will wear the names of the Israelite tribes over his heart on the breastpiece, as a constant reminder before the Lord.
And he will bear Aaron [the] names of [the] sons of Israel on [the] breastpiece of judgment over heart his when goes he into the holy place to a memorial before Yahweh continually.
30 Place the Urim and Thummim in the breastpiece of decision, so that they too will be over Aaron's heart whenever he comes into the Lord's presence. Aaron will continually carry the means of gaining decisions over his heart before the Lord.
And you will put into [the] breastpiece of judgment the Urim and the Thummim and they will be over [the] heart of Aaron when goes he before Yahweh and he will bear Aaron [the] judgment of [the] people of Israel over heart his before Yahweh continually.
31 Make the robe that goes with the ephod exclusively from blue cloth,
And you will make [the] robe of the ephod an entirety of violet stuff.
32 with an opening in the middle at the top. Stitch a woven collar around the opening to strengthen it so it won't tear.
And it will be [the] opening of top its in [the] middle of it an edge it will be[long] to opening its all around [the] work a weaver like [the] opening of a collar it will be[long] to it not it will be torn.
33 Make pomegranates using blue, purple, and crimson thread and attach them all the way around its hem, with gold bells between them,
And you will make on skirt its pomegranates of violet stuff and purple and scarlet stuff of scarlet on skirt its all around and bells of gold [will be] in between them all around.
34 having the gold bells and the pomegranates alternate.
A bell of gold and a pomegranate a bell of gold and a pomegranate [will be] on [the] skirts of the robe all around.
35 Aaron is to wear the robe whenever he serves, and the sound it makes will be heard when he enters or leaves the sanctuary as he goes into the Lord's presence, so that he won't die.
And it will be on Aaron to serve and it will be heard sound its when goes he into the holy place before Yahweh and when comes out he and not he will die.
36 Make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it like a seal, “Holy to the Lord.”
And you will make a plate of gold pure and you will engrave on it [the] engravings of a seal holiness to Yahweh.
37 Attach it to the front of the turban using a blue cord.
And you will put it on a cord of violet stuff and it will be on the turban to [the] front of [the] face of the turban it will be.
38 Aaron will wear it on his forehead, so that he may take responsibility for the guilt of the offerings the Israelites make, and this applies to all their holy gifts. It must always remain on his forehead in order that the people are accepted in the Lord's presence.
And it will be on [the] forehead of Aaron and he will bear Aaron [the] guilt of the holy things which they will consecrate [the] people of Israel to all [the] gifts of holiness their and it will be on forehead his continually for acceptance to them before Yahweh.
39 Weave the tunic with finely-spun linen and make the turban of the same material, and also make sash and have it embroidered.
And you will weave the tunic fine linen and you will make a turban of fine linen and a sash you will make [the] work of a worker in colors.
40 Make tunics, sashes, and headdresses for Aaron's sons, so that they will look splendid and dignified.
And for [the] sons of Aaron you will make tunics and you will make for them sashes and headdresses you will make for them for glory and for beauty.
41 Put these clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons and then anoint them and ordain them. Dedicate them so that they can serve me as priests.
And you will clothe them Aaron brother your and sons his with him and you will anoint them and you will fill hand their and you will consecrate them and they will serve as priests me.
42 Make linen undershorts to cover their bare bodies, reaching from waist to thigh.
And make for them undergarments of linen to cover [the] flesh of nakedness from [the] hips and to [the] thighs they will be.
43 Aaron and his sons are to wear them when they enter the Tent of Meeting or when they approach the altar to serve in the Holy Place, so that they will not bring guilt on themselves and die. This is a law for Aaron and his descendants forever.
And they will be on Aaron and on sons his when go they - into [the] tent of meeting or when draw near they to the altar to serve in the holy place and not they will bear guilt and they will die [it will be] a statute of perpetuity for him and for offspring his after him.
