Exodus 18
1 Moses' father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, heard about everything God had done for Moses and his people the Israelites, and how the Lord had led them out of Egypt.
Narinig ni Jetro na pari ng Midian, na biyenan na lalaki ni Moises ang lahat ng ginawa ng Diyos kay Moises at sa mga Israelita na kaniyang bayan. Narinig niya na dinala ni Yahweh palabas sa Ehipto ang Israel.
2 When Moses had sent home his wife Zipporah, his father-in-law Jethro had welcomed her,
Kinuha ni Jetro na biyenan ni Moises si Zippora na asawa ni Moises, matapos niyang pabalikin sa kanilang tahanan.
3 together with her two sons. One son was named Gershom, for Moses had said, “I have been a foreigner in a foreign land.”
At ang kaniyang dalawang anak na lalaki; Ang Pangalan ng isa niyang anak ay si Gersom, dahil sinabi ni Moises, “Naging dayuhan ako sa isang dayuhang lupain.”
4 The other son was named Eliezer, because Moses had said, “The God of my father was my helper, and saved me from death at Pharaoh's hand.”
Ang isa niyang anak ay pinangalanang Eliezer, dahil sinabi ni Moises, “Ang Diyos ng aking ninuno ay aking saklolo. Niligtas niya ako mula sa espada ni Paraon.”
5 Moses' father-in-law Jethro, together with Moses' wife and sons, came to see him in the desert at the camp near the mountain of God.
Dumating si Jetro, na biyenan ni Moises, kasama ang mga anak na lalaki at asawa ni Moises sa ilang kung saan sila nagkampo sa bundok ng Diyos.
6 Moses was told beforehand, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to see you together with your wife and her two sons.”
Sinabi niya kay Moises, “Ako na iyong biyenan na si Jetro, kasama ang iyong asawa at ang kaniyang dalawang anak na lalaki ay pupunta sa iyo.”
7 Moses went out to meet his father-in-law and bowed down and kissed him. They asked each other how they were and then went into the tent.
Lumabas si Moises para salubungin ang kaniyang biyenan na lalaki, yumuko at hinalikan siya. Nagtanungan sila tungkol sa kapakanan ng isa't-isa at pagkatapos pumasok sila sa tolda.
8 Moses told his father-in-law about everything the Lord had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians on behalf of the Israelites, about all the troubles they had experienced on the way, and about how the Lord had saved them.
Isinalaysay ni Moises sa kaniyang biyenan na lalaki ang lahat ng ginawa ni Yahweh kay Paraon at sa mga taga-Ehipto alang-alang sa kapakanan ng Israel, tungkol sa lahat ng mga paghihirap na dumating sa kanilang paglalakbay, at kung paano sila niligtas ni Yahweh.
9 Jethro was delighted to hear about all the good things the Lord had done for Israel when he'd saved them from the Egyptians.
Nagalak si Jetro sa kabila ng lahat ng mabuting nagawa ni Yahweh para sa Israel, dahil niligtas sila ni Yahweh mula sa kamay ng mga taga-Ehipto.
10 Jethro announced, “May the Lord be blessed, who saved you from the Egyptians and from Pharaoh.
Sinabi ni Jetro, “Purihin nawa si Yahweh, dahil niligtas niya kayo mula sa kamay ng mga taga-Ehipto at mula sa kamay ng Paraon, at pinalaya niya ang bayan mula sa kamay ng mga taga-Ehipto.
11 This is so convincing to me that the Lord is greater than all other gods, for he saved the people from the Egyptians when they acted so arrogantly towards the Israelites.”
Ngayon alam ko na si Yahweh ay dakila kaysa lahat ng mga diyos, dahil niligtas ng Diyos ang kaniyang bayan nang pinagmalupitan ng mga taga-Ehipto ang mga Israelita.
12 Then Jethro presented a burnt offering and sacrifices to God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with him in God's presence.
Nagdala si Jetro, na biyenan na lalaki ni Moises, ng sinunog na handog at alay para sa Diyos. Nagpunta si Aaron at lahat ng mga nakatatanda ng Israel para kumain kasama ang biyenan na lalaki ni Moises sa harap ng Diyos.
13 The following day Moses sat as a judge for the people, and they presented their cases to him from morning to evening.
Kinabukasan umupo si Moises para hatulan ang mga tao. Tumayo ang mga tao sa palibot ni Moises, mula umaga hanggang gabi.
14 When his father-in-law saw everything that Moses was doing for the people, he asked, “What's all this you're doing for the people? Why are you sitting alone as judge, with everyone presenting their cases to you from morning to evening?”
Nang nakita ni Jetro ang lahat ng ginawa ni Moises para sa bayan, sinabi niya, “Ano ba itong ginawa mo sa bayan? Bakit nauupo kang mag-isa at ang lahat ng tao ay nakatayo na nakapalibot sa iyo mula umaga hanggang gabi?”
15 “Because the people come to me to ask God for his decision,” Moses replied.
Sinabi ni Moises sa kaniyang biyenan na lalaki, “Lumapit ang mga tao sa akin para hingin ang direksyon ng Diyos.
16 “When they argue over something, the case is brought before me to decide between one them, and I explain to them the God's laws and regulations.”
Pumupunta sila sa akin kapag nagtatalo sila. Hinahatulan ko ang pagitan ng bawat isa, at itinuturo ko sa kanila ang mga kautusan at mga batas ng Diyos.”
17 Jethro told him, “What you're doing is not the best.
Sinabi ni Jetro kay Moises, “Hindi mabuti ang iyong ginagawa.
18 You, and these people who come to you, are all going to wear yourselves out, because the workload is far too heavy. You can't handle it alone.
Tiyak na manghihina ka, ikaw at ang lahat ng taong pumupunta sa iyo, dahil ang pasanin na ito ay labis na napakabigat para sa iyo. Hindi mo ito kayang gawin sa pamamagitan ng iyong sarili.
19 So please listen to me. I'm going to give you some advice, and God will be with you. Yes, you must continue to be the people's representative before God, and take their cases to him.
Makinig ka sa akin. Bibigyan kita ng payo, at sumaiyo ang Diyos, dahil ikaw ang kinatawan ng tao sa Diyos, at ikaw ang nagdadala ng kanilang mga pagtatalo sa kaniya.
20 Go on teaching them the laws and regulations. Show them how to live and the work they are to do.
Dapat mong ituro sa kanila ang kaniyang mga kautusan at mga batas. Dapat mong ipakita sa kanila ang daang nararapat lakaran at gawain ang nararapat.
21 But now you should choose men who are competent from among the people, men who respect God and who are trustworthy and not corrupt. Put them in charge of the people as leaders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.
At saka, dapat pumili ka ng mga lalaking bihasa mula sa lahat ng mga tao, mga lalaking may takot sa Diyos, mga lalaking mapagpatotoo na napopoot sa hindi makatarungan. Dapat ilagay mo sila sa mga tao para maging mga pinuno na nangangasiwa sa libu-libo, daan-daan, lima-limampu at sampu-sampo.
22 These men are to judge the people on a continuing basis. Major issues they can bring to you, but they can decide all the small matters themselves. In this way your burden will be made lighter as they share it with you.
Hahatulan nila ang mga tao sa lahat ng kaugaliang pamamaraan na mga kaso, pero dadalhin nila ang mga mabibigat na mga kaso sa iyo. Sila na ang hahatol sa mga maliliit na mga kaso. Sa ganyang paraan, magiging magaan para sa iyo, at dadalhin nila ang pasanin kasama mo.
23 If you follow my advice, and if it's what God tells you to do, then you will be able to survive, and all these people can go home satisfied that their cases have been heard.”
Kung gagawin mo ito, at kung inatasan ka ng Diyos na gawin ito, hindi ka mahihirapan at makakauwi na nasisiyahan ang bayan sa kanilang tahanan.”
24 Moses listened to what his father-in-law said and followed all his advice.
Kaya nakinig si Moises sa mga salita ng kaniyang biyenan na lalaki at ginawa ang lahat ng kaniyang sinabi.
25 So Moses chose competent men from all of Israel and put them in charge of the people as leaders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.
Pinili ni Moises ang mga lalaking bihasa mula sa lahat ng Israel at ginawa silang mga pinuno ng mga taong, tagapangasiwa sa libu-libo, daan-daan, lima-limampu, at sampu-sampo.
26 They acted as judges for the people on a continuing basis. They brought the difficult cases to Moses, but they would judge the small matters themselves.
Hinatulan nila ang mga tao sa mga karaniwang pangyayari. Dinala nila kay Moises ang mabigat na mga kaso, pero sila na mismo ang humahatol sa mga maliliit na mga kaso.
27 Then Moses sent Jethro on his way, and he went back to his own country.
Pagkatapos hinayaan ni Moises na umalis ang kaniyang biyenan na lalaki, at bumalik si Jetro sa kaniyang sariling lupain.
