< Deuteronomy 1 >
1 This is the record of what Moses told all the Israelites during their time in the desert to the east of the Jordan. They were in the Arabah near Suph, between Paran on the one side and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Di-zahab on the other.
Hekah olka he Jordan rhalvang kah khosoek, Suph imdan kolken Paran laklo neh Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth neh Dizahab ah Israel boeih ham Mosesloh a thuipah.
2 (It takes eleven days to go from Horeb to Kadesh-barnea by the road that passes Mount Seir.)
Te vaengah Seir tlang long kah Horeb lamkah Kadeshbarnea he hnin rha hlai at longcaeh hla pueng.
3 On the first day of the eleventh month of the fortieth year, Moses recounted to the Israelites everything that the Lord had instructed him to tell them.
Kum likipa lo vaengkaha hla hlai at kah hla lamhma cuek dongah BOEIPAkaha uen boeih te Israel carhoek ham Mosesloh a thuipah.
4 This happened after he defeated Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon, and then at Edrei after he defeated Og king of Bashan, who ruled in Ashtaroth.
Heshbon ahaka ngol Amori manghai Sihon neh Edrei kah Ashtaroth ahaka ngol Bashan manghai Ogaa tloek phoeiah,
5 Speaking on the east side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain these instructions, saying:
Moab kho kah Jordan rhalvang ah BOEIPA kah olkhueng te Mosesloh koea thuicaih tih,
6 The Lord our God told us at Horeb: “You have remained here beside this mountain for long enough.
“Mamih kah BOEIPA Pathenloh Horeb aha thui tah, 'Hekah tlang ah na omuh khaw rhoehcoeng.
7 Continue your journey and go to the hill country of the Amorites and all their neighbors, into the Jordan Valley, into the hill country, into the foothills, into the Negev, and along the coast to the country of the Canaanites up to Lebanon, as far as the great River Euphrates.
Nangmih te hooiuh lamtah hlahuh laeh. Amori tlang neh a imben boeih ah, kolken tlang neh kolrhawk ah khaw, Negev neh Kanaan kho kah tuitun langkaeng long khaw, Lebanon tuiva Perath tuiva puei duela cetuh.
8 Look, I'm giving this land to you. Go and take ownership of the land that the Lord promised he would give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants who would follow them.”
Nangmih mikhmuh kah khohmuen kam paek he hmuhuh. Cetuh lamtah panguh. Tekah khohmuen teni BOEIPAloh na parhoek Abraham taengah, Isaak taengah, Jakob taengah khaw amih phoeikah a tii a ngan taengah khaw paek ham la ola coeng.
9 That's when I told you, “I can't take responsibility for all of you by myself.
Te vaeng tue ah nangmih taengah ka thui vanbangla, “Nangmih khuen ham he kai loh kan na moenih.
10 The Lord your God has increased your numbers so much that today there are as many of you as there are stars in the sky.

11 May the Lord, the God of your forefathers, multiply you a thousand times and bless you as he has promised.
Na parhoek kah BOEIPA Pathenloh nangmih taengkaha thui vanbang la nangmih tea pueh thawng khat lam khaw n'thap saeh lamtah yoethen m'pae saeh.
12 But how can I take on all your troubles, burdens, and arguments just by myself?
Tedae nangmih kah laipuei neh hnophueih neh tuituknahte kai loh metlam ka phueih thai eh?
13 You must choose for yourselves wise, experienced men with good judgment from each of your tribes, and I will put them in charge as your leaders.”
Te dongah namah koca khui lamkahaka cueih tihaka yakming nehaka ming thai hlang rhoekte namamih ham tuekuh lamtah amihte nangmihkaha lu la ka khueh eh?,’ ka ti.
14 You replied to me, saying, “Your proposal is a good one.”
Te vaengah kai te nan doouh tih, 'Na ol thui tete then, saii hamom,’na tiuh.
15 So I summoned your tribal leaders, men with good judgment, and put them in charge of you, as commanders and officials for your tribes. Some were responsible for thousands, some for hundreds, some for fifties, and some for tens.
Te dongahaka cueih tihaka ming hlang rhoekte namamih koca rhoek kah a lu la ka khueh eh. Te vaengah thawngkhat kah mangparhoek, yakhat kah mangparhoek, sawmnga kah mangparhoek neh hlangrha kah mangparhoek te nangmih soaha lu la ka khueh tih nangmih kocarhoek kah rhoiboei la om uh.
16 At the same time I gave strict instructions to your judges: “Hear the cases brought between your brothers, and make sure you are fair when you judge between a man and his brother or a foreigner living among you.
Te vaengah nangmih taengkah laitloekrhoek te ka uen tih, 'Na manuca rhoek loh a yaak koi la hlang neh a manuca lakloah khaw yinlai laklo ah khaw duengnah neh laitloekuh.
17 Don't show any favoritism when you judge—treat the powerful and the common people just the same. Don't let anyone intimidate you, because judgment is done on God's behalf. Bring me any case that is too hard for you, and I will hear it.”
Laitloeknah dongah hlang maelhmai souh boeh. Tanoe kangham lana yaak akhaw hlang mikhmuh ah bakuepuh boeh. Laitloeknah he Pathen hut laaom dongah nangmih hamaka kuel olka te tah kai taengla hang khuenuh lamtah n'yaak sak uh,’ ka tinah.
18 This was also the time I instructed you about everything you had to do.
Te vaeng tue kah nangmih kang uen olka boeih te saiiuh.
19 Following the orders of the Lord our God, we left Horeb and set off towards the hill country of the Amorites, passing through the whole of the large and terrifying desert that you yourselves have experienced. When we reached Kadesh-barnea,
Te dongah mamih BOEIPA Pathenkaha uen vanbangla Horeb lamkah m'puenuh tih khosoek khoham khaw boeihna hmuhuh. Rhih aka om Amori tlang long la n'cetuh tih Kadeshbarnea te m'phauh.
20 I explained to you, “You have reached the hill country of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving to us.
Te vaengah nangmih taengah, “Mamih kah BOEIPA Pathenloh mamih taengah m'paek Amori tlang lana pawkuh coeng.
21 Look, the Lord your God has given you the land! Go and take ownership of the land as the Lord, the God of your forefathers, has told you. Don't be frightened or terrified.”
Na parhoek kah BOEIPA Pathenloh nangmih taengah, 'Rhih boeh, rhihyawp boeh,’ a ti vanbangla nangmih mikhmuh ah na BOEIPA Pathen loh m'paek ke souh. Khohmuen ke cet lamtah pang laeh,’ ka ti.
22 Then you all came to me and suggested, “Let's send men on ahead to explore the land and report back to us about what route to take and which towns we'll come across.”
Te vaengah kai taengla boeih na capituh tih, 'Mamih hmai ah hlang tueih uhsih lamtah khohmuen te ha hip uh saeh. Te daengah ni n'caeh hamkoi longpuei neh m'pha hamkoi khopueirhoek kah olkate mamih taengla hang khuen uh eh,” na tiuh.
23 It seemed like a good plan to me, so I chose twelve of your men, one from each tribe.
Tekah olka ka mik dongaha thuem van dongah koca pakhatah hlangpakhat neh hlang hlai nitte nangmihkhui lamkah ka tuek.
24 They set off and went up into the hill country as far as the Valley of Eshcol, exploring the land.
Te dongah hooiuh tih tlanglaa yoenguh phoeiah Eshkol soklong la pawkuh tihkhoa hipuh.
25 They brought back some of the country's fruit, carrying it down to us, and gave us the report: “The Lord our God is giving us good land.”
Te vaengah khohmuen thaihtae te a kut neha lohuh tih mammih taengla han suntlak puei uh phoeiah mamih ham olka ham voeihuh. Mamih kah Pathen BOEIPAloh mamih taengah m'paek khohmuenkaha thente khawa thuiuh.
26 But you didn't want to go. You rebelled against the instructions of the Lord your God.
Tedae caeh hamna huemuh pawt dongah na BOEIPA Pathen kah ol tena koekuh.
27 You complained while you were in your tents and said, “It's because the Lord hates us that he led us out of Egypt in order to hand us over to the Amorites to be wiped out.
Namamih kah dap khuiah pataengna cailakuh tih, 'Mamih kah BOEIPA kah hmuhuetnah dongah mamih mitmoeng sak hamni Egypt kho lamloh n'khuentih Amori kut dongla n'thak.
28 Where are we going? Our brothers terrified us because they told us: ‘The people are bigger and taller than us; the towns are large, with high walls that reach the sky. We even saw the descendants of the giant Anak there!’”
Kaimih ta melam kacaeh uh eh? Mah manucaaka cetrhoek loh, 'Pilnamloh lenuh tih mamih lakah sang uh, khopueirhoekkhaw ka tihavong cakloh vaan duelaa pha, teahte Anakim carhoek khaw ka hmuh,’ a ti uh tih mamih kah lungbuei thinko hehoenga khahuh.
29 So I told you, “Don't be frightened or scared of them!
Nangmih te, “Amih taengahna sarhing sak boeh, rhihuh boeh,’ ka ti.
30 The Lord your God who leads your way will fight for you in the same way you saw him do for you in Egypt.
Nangmih mikhmuh kahaka cet na Pathen BOEIPAloh Egypt ah nangmih ham namamih mikhmuh kaha saii bang boeih la nangmih hama vathoh bitni.
31 He did the same in the desert—you saw how the Lord your God carried you like a father carries his son during your whole journey until you arrived here.”
Hekah hmuen na phauhduena caehuhvaengah longpueng khing ah hlangloh a caa poeh bangla khosoek ah BOEIPA na Pathenloh nangmih m'poeh te khawna hmuhuh coeng.
32 Despite all this, you didn't trust the Lord your God,
Tedae tekah olkaaom lalah nangmihloh BOEIPA na Pathen tena tangnahuh pawh.

Longpueng ah na rhaehnah ham nangmih kah hmuen tlap te nangmih mikhmuh ah halo. Khoyinah hmai neh longpuei te nangmih n'tueng tih khothaihah cingmai nehna cetuh.
34 When the Lord heard what you were saying, he got angry and swore an oath:
Nangmih kah olka ol te BOEIPAloh a yaak vaengaha thintoek tih ola coeng.
35 “Not a single one of this evil generation will see the good land I promised to give your forefathers,
“Na parhoek taengah paek ham ka caeng khohmuen then te he kah boethae thawnpuei hlang rhoek khuikah hlangloh hmu mahpawh.

37 The Lord also got angry with me because of you. He told me, “Even you won't enter the country.
Nangmih kongah kai taengah khaw BOEIPAloh a thintoek tih, 'Nang khawna kun mahpawh.
38 However, Joshua, son of Nun, your assistant, will enter it. Encourage him, for he will help Israel to occupy the land.
Na mikhmuh ahaka pai Nun capa Joshua tah kun ni. Israel te anihloh a pang hamcoeng dongah anih te mah talonglaeh.
39 Your small children that you claimed would become prisoners, your children who at the time didn't know good from evil, they will be the ones to enter the land that I will give them, and they will occupy it.
Na ca te maeh la omnina tiuh cakhawa tue thae thenaka ming mueh na ca rhoek tah kun uh ni. Te dongah amih te khohmuen ka paek vetih amihloh a pang uh ni.
40 But now turn around and head back into the desert on the road that leads to the Red Sea.”
Tedae nangmih te namamih maeluh lamtah carhaek li longpuei kah khosoekte paan uh,’ a ti.
41 But you answered and told me, “We have sinned against the Lord! We will go and we will fight and we will do everything the Lord our God has ordered us to do.” Then you all picked up your weapons and prepared for battle thinking it would be easy to go and fight in the hill country.
Te vaengah kai he nan doouh tih, 'BOEIPA taengah ka tholhuh coeng.
42 But the Lord instructed me, “Order them not to go and fight because I won't be with you to prevent you from being defeated by your enemies.”
Tedae BOEIPAloh kai taengah, “Amih te thuipah. Cetuh boeh, vathohuh boeh, nangmih lakli ah ka om pawt dongah na thunkharhoek kah mikhmuh ahna yawkuh mahpawt nim,” a ti.
43 I told you this, but you refused to listen. You defied the instructions of the Lord and arrogantly went to fight in the hill country.
Nangmih taengah ka thui daena ngaiuh pawt tih BOEIPA ol tena koekuh. Na lokhakuh tih tlang lana lueiuh.
44 Then the Amorites living there in the hills came and attacked you. They chased after you like a swarm of bees, killing you all the way from Seir to Hormah.
Te dongah nangmihaka doe ham tlang ahaka om Amori te halo tih khoiloh a cuk thil bangla nangmih te n'hloemuh phoeiah Seir lamkah Hormah duela nangmih te m'phopuh.
45 You came back to camp and wept before the Lord, but he refused to listen to what you said or to pay attention to you.
Te vaengahna balkhonguh tih BOEIPA mikhmuh ahna rhapuh dae nangmih ol te BOEIPAloh a yaak voel mueh la nangmih taengaha hna khaw kaeng pawh.
46 You stayed there in Kadesh for a long time.
