Deuteronomy 3
1 We set off and went up the road towards Bashan. Og, king of Bashan, and his whole army came out to fight us at Edrei.
Tomando otro rumbo subimos camino de Basan. Mas salió contra nosotros Og, rey de Basan, él y todo su pueblo, a dar batalla en Edreí.
2 But the Lord told me, “Don't be afraid of him, for I have handed him over to you, together with all his people and his land. Deal with him as you did with Sihon, king of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon.”
Entonces me dijo Yahvé: ‘No le temas, pues le he entregado en tus manos, tanto a él como a su pueblo y su tierra. Harás con él como hiciste con Sehón, rey de los amorreos, que habitaba en Hesbón.’
3 So the Lord our God handed over to us Og, king of Bashan, and his whole army as well. We killed them and left no survivors.
Y Yahvé nuestro Dios entregó en vuestra mano también a Og, rey de Basan, y a todo su pueblo; y lo derrotamos sin que nadie le quedase con vida.
4 We also captured all his towns. There wasn't a single town among all the sixty that we didn't capture. This included the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
Conquistarnos entonces todas sus ciudades; no hubo ciudad que no les quitásemos: sesenta ciudades, toda la región de Argob, el reino de Og en Basan.
5 All of these towns were fortified with high walls and gates with bars. There were many more villages as well, those that didn't have walls.
Todas estas eran ciudades fortificadas, con muy altas murallas, con puertas y cerrojos; sin contar las ciudades sin muros, que eran muy numerosas.
6 We set them apart for destruction, just as we did to Sihon, king of Heshbon, killing all the men, women, and children of every city.
Las consagramos al exterminio, como habíamos hecho con Sehón, rey de Hesbón, acabando completamente con cada ciudad, hombres, mujeres y niños.
7 But we took for ourselves all the livestock and plunder from the towns.
Para nosotros tomamos por botín todo el ganado y los despojos de las ciudades.
8 So in summary, at that time we took from the two Amorite kings the land east of the Jordan, from the Arnon Valley all the way to Mount Hermon.
Con lo que tomamos en aquel tiempo a los dos reyes amorreos, el país de la otra parte del Jordán, desde el torrente Arnón hasta el monte Hermón:
9 (Mount Hermon is called Sirion by the Sidonians and Senir by the Amorites.)
—los sidonios llaman al Hermón Sirión, y los amorreos lo llaman Sanir—
10 The area included all the towns of the plain, all of Gilead, and all of Bashan, up to and including the towns of Salecah and Edrei in the kingdom of Og.
todas las ciudades de la llanura, todo Galaad y todo Basan hasta Salea y Edreí, ciudades de Og en Basan.
11 (Only Og, king of Bashan, was left of the race of the Rephaim. He had a bed made of iron that was nine cubits long and four cubits wide. It's still in the Ammonite town of Rabbah.)
Pues solo Og, rey de Basan, había quedado del resto de los gigantes. He aquí su cama, cama de hierro, ¿no está todavía en Rabbat de los amonitas? Su longitud es de nueve codos y su ancho de cuatro codos, según el codo ordinario.
12 This is when we took over the land. I assigned to the tribes of Reuben and Gad the land to the north of the town of Aroer in the Arnon Valley, and half the hill country of Gilead, together with its towns.
En aquel tiempo tomamos posesión de este país. A los rubenitas y a los gaditas les di la región desde Aroer, situada sobre el torrente Arnón, y la mitad de la montaña de Galaad y sus ciudades.
13 I assigned to the half-tribe of Manasseh the rest of Gilead, and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og. (The whole region of Argob, all the territory of Bashan, was formerly called the land of the Rephaim.)
El resto de Galaad, y todo Basan, reino de Og, lo di a la media tribu de Manasés, toda la región de Argob. Todo el Basan se llama país de gigantes.
14 Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, took over the whole region of Argob right up to the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites and changed the name of Bashan to Havvoth-jair after himself, which is still its name to this day.
Jaír, hijo de Manasés, ocupó toda la región de Argob, hasta la frontera de los gesureos y los maacateos, dando a (esta parte de) Basan su nombre: Havot Jaír, hasta el día de hoy.
15 I assigned the rest of Gilead to the descendants of Machir,
A Maquir le di Galaad.
16 while I assigned to the tribes of Reuben and Gad the area from Gilead to the Arnon Valley, the boundary line being the middle of the valley, all the way to the Jabbok River on the Ammonite border.
A los rubenitas y a los gaditas, ya les había dado el país desde Galaad hasta el torrente Arnón, con la mitad del valle como límite y hasta el torrente Yaboc, frontera de los amonitas;
17 The Jordan River in the Arabah bordered it to the west, from the Sea of Galilee to the Sea of the Arabah (the Dead Sea). On the east lay the slopes of the Pisgah mountain range.
también el Arabá con el Jordán como límite, desde Kinéret hasta el Mar del Arabá, el Mar Salado, al pie de las vertientes del Fasga, al oriente.
18 This was when I gave you these instructions: “The Lord your God has given you this country as yours to own. All your warriors are to cross over, ready for battle, leading your fellow Israelites.
En aquel tiempo os di esta orden: ‘Yahvé, vuestro Dios, os ha dado este país para que sea heredad vuestra. Marchad, pues, armados, todos los hombres de guerra, delante de vuestros hermanos, los hijos de Israel.
19 However, your wives, your children, and your livestock (I know that you have plenty of livestock) can stay behind in the towns I have given you,
Mas vuestras mujeres y vuestros niños y vuestro ganado —yo sé que tenéis mucho ganado— quedarán en vuestras ciudades que os he dado,
20 until the Lord gives victory to your fellow Israelites and they have peace, just as he has for you, after taking over the land that the Lord your God is giving them on the other side of the Jordan. Then you can all return to the land I have given you to own.”
hasta que Yahvé haya dado descanso a vuestros hermanos, así como a vosotros, y posean también ellos la tierra que Yahvé, vuestro Dios, les va a dar al otro lado del Jordán; entonces volveréis cada uno a la herencia que os he dado.’
21 This was the time I ordered Joshua: “You've seen with your own eyes seen everything the Lord your God did to these two kings. The Lord will do the same to all the kingdoms where you're going.
En aquel tiempo di órdenes a Josué, diciendo: ‘Tus ojos han visto todo lo que Yahvé, tu Dios, ha hecho con estos dos reyes; así hará Yahvé con todos los reinos contra los cuales has de marchar.
22 Don't be afraid of them, for the Lord your God himself will be fighting on your side.”
No los temáis, porque Yahvé, vuestro Dios, es quien pelea por vosotros.’
23 This was also the time I pleaded with the Lord, saying,
En aquel tiempo yo supliqué a Yahvé, diciendo:
24 “Lord God, you've really only just begun to show your power and greatness to me, your servant. What god in heaven or on earth has the incredible ability to do the mighty acts you do?
‘Señor Yahvé, Tú has comenzado a mostrar a tu siervo tu grandeza y tu poderoso brazo; pues ¿qué Dios hay en el cielo o en la tierra que pueda hacer las obras y las proezas que haces Tú?
25 Please, let me cross over the Jordan and see the good land there, the beautiful hills, and the mountains of Lebanon!”
Déjame, te ruego, pasar y ver aquella excelente tierra que está al otro lado del Jordán, aquella hermosa montaña y el Líbano.’
26 But the Lord was angry with me because of you, and he refused to listen to me. “That's enough,” he told me. “Don't talk to me about this anymore.
Pero Yahvé enojado contra mí por culpa vuestra, no me escuchó, sino que me dijo: ‘Basta ya; no me hables más de esto.
27 Climb up to the top of Mount and look west, north, south, and east. Take a long look at the land with your own eyes, because you're not going to cross this Jordan.
Sube a la cumbre del Fasga, y alza tus ojos hacia el occidente, y hacia el aquilón, y hacia el mediodía, y hacia el oriente, y contémplala con tus ojos; pues no pasarás este Jordán.
28 Instead, put Joshua in charge because he's the one who will cross over, leading the people and helping them to take over the land that you see. Encourage him and support him.”
Da órdenes a Josué, fortalécele, e inspírale ánimo, pues él es quien ha de pasar al frente de este pueblo, y él les repartirá el país que tú puedes ver solamente.’
29 So we remained there in the valley near Beth-peor.
Y nos quedamos en el valle, frente a Betfegor.
