< Amos 1 >

1 Here is the message that was given to Amos, a shepherd from Tekoa in Judah. This is what he saw concerning Israel when Uzziah was king of Judah and Jeroboam, son of Jehoash, was king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
Amos, Tekoa nguanhwɛfo no mu baako nsɛm ni. Onyaa saa anisoadehu yi a ɛfa Israel ho mfe abien ansa na asase wosowee, bere a Usia di hene wɔ Yuda na Yoas babarima Yeroboam nso di hene wɔ Israel no.
2 And he said, The Lord roars from Zion, he shouts from Jerusalem. The shepherds' pastures wither, the top of Mount Carmel dries up.
Ɔkae se, “Awurade bobɔ mu fi Sion bepɔw so na ɔde aprannaa nnyigyei nso fi Yerusalem; nguanhwɛfo mmoa adidibea rehyew na Karmel atifi nso kisa.”
3 This is what the Lord says: The people of Damascus have repeatedly sinned and so I will not hesitate to punish them, for they beat the people of Gilead with sharp iron threshing tools.
Nea Awurade se ni: “Damasko ayɛ bɔne bebree ama no atra so ɛno nti, merennan mʼabufuw. Efisɛ ɔde awiporowbea ade a ɛwɔ dade se dwerɛw Gilead.
4 So I will send fire down on the house of Hazael and burn up Ben-Hadad's fortresses.
Mede ogya bɛto Hasael fi na ahyew Ben-Hadad aban no.
5 I will smash the gates of Damascus, I will cut down those who live in the Valley of Aven, and the ruler from Beth Eden. The people of Aram will be deported as prisoners to the land of Kir, says the Lord.
Mebubu Damasko apon, na mɛsɛe ɔhene a ɔwɔ Awen bon no mu no ne nea okura ahempema wɔ Bet Eden no. Na Aramfo bɛkɔ nnommum mu wɔ Kir,” sɛnea Awurade se ni.
6 This is what the Lord says: The people of Gaza have repeatedly sinned and so I will not hesitate to punish them, for they sent into exile whole communities, handing them over to Edom.
Nea Awurade se ni: “Gasa ayɛ bɔne bebree ama no atra so, ɛno nti, merennan mʼabufuw no. Ɔfaa ɔman mu no nyinaa nnommum na ɔtɔn wɔn maa Edomfo.
7 So I will send down fire on the walls of Gaza and burn up its fortresses.
Mede ogya bɛto Gasa afasu mu, na ahyew nʼaban no.
8 I will cut down those who live in Ashdod and the ruler of Ashkelon. I will turn to punish Ekron and the Philistines who remain will die, says the Lord God.
Mɛsɛe Asdod hene no ne nea okura ahempema wɔ Askelon no. Mɛdan me nsa atia Ekron, kosi sɛ Filistini a otwa to no bewu,” sɛnea Asafo Awurade se ni.
9 This is what the Lord says: The people of Tyre have repeatedly sinned and so I will not hesitate to punish them, for they exiled whole communities, handing them over to Edom, and did not keep their agreement to help each other as members of the same family.
Nea Awurade se ni: “Tiro ayɛ bɔne bebree ama no atra so, ɛno nti, merennan mʼabufuw. Ɔfaa ɔmanmu no nnommum na ɔtɔn wɔn maa Edomfo, a wankae onuadɔ apam.
10 So I will send down fire on the walls of Tyre and burn up its fortresses.
Mede ogya bɛto Tiro afasu no mu, na ahyew nʼaban.”
11 This is what the Lord says: The people of Edom have repeatedly sinned and so I will not hesitate to punish them, for they hunted down the Israelites to whom they were related, killing them with swords. They attacked without mercy, tearing the Israelites to pieces in an angry rage that never stopped.
Nea Awurade se ni: “Edom ayɛ bɔne bebree ama no atra so, ɛno nti, merennan mʼabufuw. Ɔde afoa taataa ne nua, a wannya ayamhyehye biara. Efisɛ ne bo kɔɔ so fuwii, na obiara antumi annwudwo nʼabufuw no ano.
12 So I will send down fire on Teman, and I will burn up the fortresses of Bozrah.
Mede ogya bɛto Teman mu, na ahyew Bosra aban.”
13 This is what the Lord says: The people of Ammon have repeatedly sinned and so I will not hesitate to punish them, because they ripped open pregnant women in Gilead as part of their war to enlarge their territory.
Sɛnea Awurade se ni: “Amon ayɛ bɔne bebree ama no atra so, ɛno nti, merennan mʼabufuw. Ɔde afoa paapaee Gilead apemfo yafunu mu de trɛw nʼahye mu.
14 I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah and burn up its fortresses. There will be shouts on the day of battle which will whirl with rage like a windstorm.
Mede ogya bɛto Raba afasu mu na ahyew nʼaban wɔ ɔko da mu nteɛteɛmu ne ahum da mfɛtɛ mu.
15 Their king will be sent into exile together with his princes, says the Lord.
Na ne hene ne mmapɔmma bɛbɔ mu akɔ nnommum mu,” sɛnea Awurade se ni.
