1 At this time, when the number of believers was increasing rapidly, the Greek-speaking believers started arguing with the Aramaic-speaking believers. They complained that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.
Mwanakandahi vawuliwa pevayendalili kuyonjokeseka, gakahumila mang'ung'uta pagati ya vamsadika va Yesu, Vayawudi vevilongela Chigiliki vala na vala vevilongela Chiebulania, vevilongela Chigiliki vala vang'ung'utayi ndava vakuvakosiwa valipwela vavi mukugawiwa vyakulya vya kila ligono.
2 The twelve apostles called all the believers together, and told them, “It's not appropriate for us to give up spreading the word of God so we can wait at tables.
Ndi muni, vamitumi kumi na vavili vala vakavakemela vamsadika, vakajova, “Chabwina lepi tete kuleka kukokosa Lilovi la Chapanga na kuvagavila chakulya.
3 Brothers, choose from among you seven trustworthy men full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will hand this responsibility over to them.
Hinu, valongo vitu, mvahagula vandu saba pagati yinu, vevitopeswa na vevamemili Mpungu Msopi na luhala, tete yati tikuvagotolela lihengu lenili.
4 We ourselves will give our full attention to prayer and the ministry of spreading the word.”
Tavete yati tivya mukuhenga mukumuyupa Chapanga na lihengu la kukokosa Lilovi la Chapanga.”
5 Everybody was happy with the arrangement, and they chose Stephen, (a man full of trust in God and of the Holy Spirit), Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus (originally a Jewish convert from Antioch).
Lijambu lenilo likavaganisa vamsadika voha, ndi vakavahagula Stefani, mundu mweamemiswi sadika yivaha na Mpungu Msopi na Filipi na Plokolo na Timoni na Pamena na Nikolausi mundu wa ku Antiokia mweajiwungi na njila ya kumuyupa Chapanga ya Vayawudi.
6 These men were presented to the apostles who prayed for them and placed their hands on them in blessing.
Vakavavika palongolo ya vamitumi, kangi vakavayupila kwa Chapanga kuni vavapamisi mawoko.
7 The word of God continued to spread, and the number of disciples in Jerusalem greatly increased, with a large number of priests committing themselves to trusting in Jesus.
Lilovi la Chapanga likadandasika ku Yelusalemu na vamsadika vakayonjokeseka neju, chikundi chivaha cha vamteta va Chapanga vakalanda sadika.
8 Stephen, full of grace and God's power, performed wonderful miracles among the people.
Hinu, Stefani amotisiwi na apewili makakala na Chapanga, hati akahenga chinamtiti na makangaso pagati ya vandu.
9 But some started arguing with him. They were from the synagogue called “the Free,” as well as Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and people from Cilicia and Asia Minor.
Nambu vandu vangi vakahumila muni vahutana na Stefani. Vandu venavo vavi va “Nyumba ya kukonganekela Vayawudi la vandu Hulu,” Vene vahumili Kulene na Alekisanda, na vangi vahumili Kilikia na Asia.
10 But they weren't able to stand against Stephen's wisdom or the Spirit with which he was speaking.
Nambu vahotwili lepi kumhotola ndava ya luhala lwaki, na Mpungu Msopi mweamlongwisi mukujova.
11 So they bribed some men to say, “We heard this man blaspheme Moses, and God too!”
Ndi vakavakulukisa cha mfiyu vandu nunuyu vajova kuvya, “Timyuwini Stefani akumliga Musa na akumliga Chapanga.”
12 They stirred up the people, and together with the elders and the teachers of the law, they came and arrested him. They brought him before the council,
Ndava ya yeniyo, vakavakokesa vandu, vachilongosi na vawula va malagizu ga Chapanga geampeli Musa. Ndi vakambwelela Stefani vakamkamula na kumpeleka palongolo ya libanji.
13 and called false witnesses who testified against him. “This man is always slandering the holy Temple and the law,” they said.
Kangi vakaleta vajova malovi ga udese vevajovili, “Mundu uyu katu ikotoka lepi kuliga pandu apa Pamsopi na kuliga malagizu ga Chapanga geampeli Musa.
14 “We've heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy the Temple, and will change the laws we received from Moses.”
Ndava muni tamali kumyuwanila kuvya Yesu wa ku Nazaleti mwenuyu yati apagwisa pandu apa na kung'anamusa mivelu yila yetapokili kuhuma kwa Musa.”
15 Everyone sitting on the council looked closely at Stephen, and his face shone like the face of an angel.
Voha vevatamili mu libanji lila vakamlolokesa takataka Stefani, kangi vakalola pamihu paki pavi ngati mtumu wa kunani kwa Chapanga.
