2 Samuel 6
1 Once again David called up all specially chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand in total.
Et par de nouvelles recrues David porta toute l'élite d'Israël à trente mille hommes.
2 He went with all his men to Baalah in Judah to bring back the Ark of God, which belongs to the Lord Almighty who sits between the cherubim that are on the Ark.
Et David se mit en mouvement et en marche de Baalei-Juda, ainsi que tout le monde qu'il avait avec lui, pour en ramener l'Arche de Dieu où l'on invoque le Nom de l'Éternel des armées siégeant sur les Chérubins qui la couvrent.
3 They placed the Ark of God on a new cart and brought it from Abinadab's house, which was on a hill. Uzzah and Ahio, Abinadab's sons, were directing the cart
Et pour transporter l'Arche de Dieu, ils prirent un chariot neuf et ils l'enlevèrent de la maison d'Abinadab sise sur la colline; et Uzza et Ahio, fils d'Abinadab, conduisaient le chariot qui était neuf.
4 with the Ark of God on it, with Ahio walking in front of it.
Ils la prirent donc dans la maison d'Abinadab, sise sur la colline. [Et Uzza cheminait] à côté de l'Arche de Dieu, et Ahio la précédait.
5 David and all the Israelites were celebrating in the Lord's presence, singing songs accompanied by zithers, harps, tambourines, rattles, and cymbals.
Et David et toute la maison d'Israël jouaient devant l'Éternel de toutes sortes d'instruments de cyprès, et luths et harpes, et tambourins et sistres et cymbales.
6 But when they came to the threshing floor of Nachon, the oxen stumbled, so Uzzah reached out to stop the Ark of God from falling.
Et lorsqu'ils atteignirent l'aire de Nachon, Uzza étendit la main vers l'Arche de Dieu et la saisit, parce que l'attelage la faisait verser.
7 The Lord was angry with Uzzah, and God struck him down right there for his disobedience, and he died beside the Ark of God.
Alors la colère de l'Éternel s'alluma contre Uzza et là Dieu le frappa à cause du sacrilège, et il mourut là à côté de l'Arche de Dieu.
8 David was angry because of the Lord's violent outburst against Uzzah. He called the place Perez-uzzah, which is still its name today.
Et David eut une cuisante douleur du coup dont l'Éternel frappait Uzza; et il donna à ce lieu le nom resté jusqu'aujourd'hui de Perets-Uzza (coup d'Uzza).
9 David became afraid of the Lord that day. “How can I ever bring back the Ark of God home to me?” he asked.
Et en ce jour David eut peur devant l'Éternel et il dit: Comment entrerait chez moi l'Arche de l'Éternel?
10 Not wanting to bring the Ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David, he had it taken to the home of Obed-edom the Gittite.
Et David ne voulut pas retirer chez lui dans la cité de David l'Arche de l'Éternel, et il l'entreposa dans la maison d'Obed-Edom de Gath.
11 The Ark of the Lord remained in Obed-edom's home for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom's whole household.
Ainsi, l'Arche de l'Éternel demeura trois mois dans la maison d'Obed-Edom de Gath. Et l'Éternel bénit Obed-Edom et toute sa maison.
12 King David was told, “The Lord has blessed Obed-edom's household and all that he has because of the Ark of God.” So David went and had the Ark of God brought from Obed-edom's house to the City of David. There was a lot of celebration!
Et le Roi David reçut cet avis: L'Éternel a béni la maison d'Obed-Edom et tout ce qui est à lui, à cause de l'Arche de Dieu. Et David fit le voyage et transféra l'Arche de Dieu de la maison d'Obed-Edom à la Cité de David, dans la joie.
13 After those carrying the Ark of the Lord had taken six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf.
Et lorsque les porteurs de l'Arche eurent fait six pas en avant, il sacrifia un taureau et un veau gras.
14 Wearing a priest's ephod, David danced as hard as he could before the Lord
Et David allait dansant de toute sa force devant l'Éternel, et David avait endossé un éphod de lin.
15 as he and all the Israelites brought along the Ark of the Lord, with plenty of shouting and the sound of horns being blown.
Et David et toute la maison d'Israël firent la translation de l'Arche de l'Éternel avec des cris de joie et au son des trompettes.
16 As the Ark of the Lord was carried into the City of David, Saul's daughter Michal looked down from a window. She watched King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, and she really loathed him.
Cependant lorsque l'Arche de l'Éternel faisait son entrée dans la Cité de David, Michal, fille de Saül, regardait par la fenêtre, et à la vue du Roi David sautant et dansant devant l'Éternel, elle ressentit pour lui du mépris en son cœur.
17 They brought the Ark of the Lord and put it on its place inside the tent that David had set up for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and friendship offerings before the Lord.
Et ils introduisirent l'Arche de l'Éternel, et ils la dressèrent à sa place dans le pavillon que David lui avait préparé, et David offrit à l'Éternel des holocaustes et des offrandes pacifiques.
18 Once he had finished offering the sacrifices, David blessed the people in the name of the Lord Almighty.
Et lorsque David eut achevé le sacrifice des holocaustes et des offrandes pacifiques, il bénit le peuple au nom de l'Éternel des armées.
19 He gave all the Israelites, both men and women, a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake. Then he sent everyone home.
Et il distribua à tout le peuple et à toute la multitude d'Israël, et hommes et femmes, à chacun une galette de pain, une ration de vin, et un gâteau de raisins secs. Puis tout le monde regagna son logis.
20 When David got home to bless his family, Michal, Saul's daughter came out to meet him and said, “How distinguished the king of Israel made himself look today, taking off his robes so everyone's servant girls could see, just as somebody crude would expose himself!”
Et lorsque David revint pour saluer sa maison, Michal, fille de Saül, sortit à la rencontre de David, et elle lui dit: Comme le Roi d'Israël s'est honoré aujourd'hui en se déshabillant aujourd'hui devant les servantes de ses serviteurs, comme se déshabille quelque homme de rien!
21 David told Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his family when he named me ruler over the Lord's people Israel. I will continue to celebrate before the Lord,
Alors David dit à Michal: C'est devant l'Éternel qui a fait choix de moi à l'exclusion de ton père et de toute sa maison pour m'ordonner prince du peuple de l'Éternel, d'Israël, c'est devant l'Éternel que j'ai dansé!
22 in fact I'm going to make myself even less distinguished, become even more humble. However, I will be respected by those servant girls you spoke about.”
et je consens à un plus grand mépris, à m'abaisser encore à mes yeux; mais auprès des servantes dont tu parles, auprès d'elles je serai en honneur!
23 And Michal, Saul's daughter, never had any children.
Or Michal, fille de Saül, fut sans enfants jusqu'au jour de sa mort.
