2 Samuel 16

1 After David had gone a little way past the top of the mountain, there was Ziba, Mephibosheth's servant, waiting to meet him. He had two donkeys already saddled with him carrying two hundred loaves of bread, a hundred raisin cakes, a hundred summer fruits, and a skin of wine.

൧ദാവീദ് മലമുകൾ കടന്ന് കുറെ അപ്പുറം ചെന്നപ്പോൾ മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്റെ ദാസനായ സീബാ കോപ്പിട്ട രണ്ടു കഴുതളുമായി എതിരെ വരുന്നത് കണ്ടു; അവയുടെ പുറത്ത് ഇരുനൂറ് അപ്പവും നൂറ് ഉണക്കമുന്തിരിക്കുലയും വേനൽകാലത്തിലെ നൂറ് അത്തിപഴങ്ങളും ഒരു തോൽകുടം വീഞ്ഞും കയറ്റിയിരുന്നു.

2 “What did you bring these for?” David asked Ziba. Ziba replied, “The donkeys are for the king's family to ride on, the bread and summer fruit are for the men to eat, and the wine is for those to drink who get worn out in the wilderness.”

൨രാജാവ് സീബയോട്: “ഇത് എന്തിന്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന് സീബാ: “കഴുതകൾ രാജാവിന്റെ കുടുംബക്കാർക്ക് കയറുവാനും, അപ്പവും വേനൽകാലത്തിലെ അത്തിപഴവും യൗവനക്കാർക്ക് കഴിക്കുവാനും, വീഞ്ഞ് മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മോഹാലസ്യപ്പെടുന്നവർക്ക് കുടിക്കുവാനും ആകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3 “Where is your master's grandson?” the king asked. Ziba answered, “He decided to stay in Jerusalem. He's saying, ‘Today the people of Israel will give me back my grandfather's kingdom.’”

൩“നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകൻ എവിടെ?” എന്ന് രാജാവ് ചോദിച്ചതിന് സീബാ രാജാവിനോട്: “അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ താമസിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ രാജത്വം യിസ്രായേൽഗൃഹം ഇന്ന് എനിക്ക് തിരികെ തരുമെന്ന് അവൻ പറയുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4 The king told Ziba, “I give you everything that belongs to Mephibosheth!” “I bow before you,” Ziba replied. “May you approve of me, Your Majesty.”

൪രാജാവ് സീബയോട്: “ഇതാ, മെഫീബോശെത്തിനുള്ള സകലവും നിനക്കുള്ളതാകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന് സീബാ: “എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഞാൻ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു; തിരുമുമ്പിൽ എനിക്ക് ദയ ലഭിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5 As King David arrived at the town of Bahurim, a man from Saul's family was just leaving. His name was Shimei, son of Gera, and he was shouting out curses as he came.

൫ദാവീദ്‌ രാജാവ് ബഹൂരീമിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ശൌലിന്റെ കുലത്തിൽ ഗേരയുടെ മകൻ ശിമെയി എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരുവൻ അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട് ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ട് വരുന്നത് കണ്ടു.

6 He threw stones at David and all the king's officers, even though the king's men and all his bodyguards surrounded David.

൬അവൻ ദാവീദിനെയും രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും കല്ലുവാരി എറിഞ്ഞു; ജനവും വീരന്മാർ എല്ലാവരും ദാവീദിന്റെ ഇടത്തും വലത്തുമായി നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

7 “Get out of here, just get out, you murderer, you wicked man!” Shimei said as he cursed.

൭ശിമെയി ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “രക്തദാഹീ, ദുഷ്ടാ, പോകൂ, പോകൂ.

8 “The Lord has paid you back for all of Saul's family that you killed, and for stealing Saul's throne. The Lord has given the kingdom to your son Absalom. Look how you've ended up in disaster because you're a murderer!”

൮ശൌല്‍ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ രക്തമൊക്കെയും യഹോവ നിന്റെമേൽ വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് പകരമല്ലയോ നീ രാജാവായത്; യഹോവ രാജത്വം നിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ രക്തദാഹിയായിരിക്കുകയാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ദോഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലം നിനക്ക് വന്നു ഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു”.

9 Abishai, son of Zeruiah, asked the king, “Why should this dead dog curse Your Majesty? Let me go and cut off his head!”

൯അപ്പോൾ സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ അബീശായി രാജാവിനോട്: “ഈ ചത്ത നായ എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ശപിക്കുന്നത് എന്ത്? ഞാൻ ചെന്ന് അവന്റെ തല വെട്ടിക്കളയട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10 “What's that got to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah?” the king replied. “If he's cursing me because the Lord told him to, then who can question what he's doing?”

൧൦അതിന് രാജാവ്: “സെരൂയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരേ, എനിക്കും നിങ്ങൾക്കും തമ്മിൽ എന്ത്? അവൻ ശപിക്കട്ടെ; ‘ദാവീദിനെ ശപിക്കുക’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അവനോട് കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെ നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്ത്? എന്ന് ആര് ശിമെയിയോട് ചോദിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11 David said to Abishai and to all his officers, “Look, if my very own son is trying to kill me, why shouldn't this Benjamite want to even more! Leave him alone; let him curse me, for the Lord told him to.

൧൧പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടും തന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരോടും പറഞ്ഞത്: “ഇതാ, എന്റെ ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്നുതന്നെ പുറപ്പെട്ട മകൻ എന്നെ കൊല്ലാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ഈ ബെന്യാമീന്യൻ ചെയ്യുന്നത് ആശ്ചര്യമോ? അവനെ വിടുവിൻ; അവൻ ശപിക്കട്ടെ; യഹോവ അവനോട് കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

12 Perhaps the Lord will see how I'm suffering and will pay me back with good for his curses today.”

൧൨പക്ഷേ യഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം നോക്കി ഇന്നത്തെ ഇവന്റെ ശാപത്തിന് പകരം എനിക്ക് അനുഗ്രഹം നല്കും”.

13 David and his men continued down the road, with Shimei keeping up with them on the hillside opposite. He went on cursing as he went along, throwing stones and dirt at David.

൧൩ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും വഴിനടന്നുപോകുമ്പോൾ ശിമെയിയും ദാവീദിന് എതിരെയുള്ള മലഞ്ചരിവിൽകൂടി അടുത്തു നടന്നു; നടന്നുകൊണ്ടു ശപിക്കുകയും കല്ലും പൂഴിയും വാരി അവനെ എറിയുകയും ചെയ്തു.

14 The king and everyone with him were tired out when they arrived at the Jordan. David rested there.

൧൪രാജാവും കൂടെയുള്ള സകലജനവും ക്ഷീണിച്ചവരായി എത്തി അവിടെ വിശ്രമിച്ചു.

15 In the meantime Absalom and all the Israelites with him arrived in Jerusalem, along with Ahithophel.

൧൫എന്നാൽ അബ്ശാലോമും യിസ്രായേല്യരായ ജനങ്ങളും അഹീഥോഫെലുമായി യെരൂശലേമിൽ എത്തി.

16 Hushai the Arkite, David's friend, went to see Absalom and declared, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”

൧൬ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതൻ അർഖ്യനായ ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് അബ്ശാലോമിനോട്: “രാജാവ് ദീർഘായുസ്സോടെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ! രാജാവ് ദീർഘായുസ്സോടെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17 “Is this how you show loyalty to your friend?” Absalom asked. “Why didn't you leave with your friend?”

൧൭അപ്പോൾ അബ്ശാലോം ഹൂശായിയോട്: “ഇതാകുന്നുവോ നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോട് നിനക്കുള്ള നിസ്വാർത്ഥത? സ്നേഹിതനോടുകൂടി പോകാതിരുന്നത് എന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

18 “Certainly not!” Hushai replied. “I'm on the side of the one chosen by the Lord, by the army, and by all the people of Israel. I will remain loyal to him.

൧൮അതിന് ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിനോട്: “അങ്ങനെയല്ല, യഹോവയും ഈ ജനവും യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ആരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നുവോ അവനുള്ളവൻ ആകുന്നു ഞാൻ; അവനോടുകൂടി ഞാൻ ഇരിക്കും.

19 In any case, why shouldn't I serve his son? In the same way I served your father I will serve you.”

൧൯ഞാൻ ആരെ ആകുന്നു സേവിക്കേണ്ടത്? അവന്റെ മകനെ അല്ലയോ? ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അപ്പനെ സേവിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്നെയും സേവിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20 Then Absalom asked Ahithophel, “Give me your advice. What shall we do?”

൨൦പിന്നെ അബ്ശാലോം അഹിഥോഫെലിനോട്: “നമ്മൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടത് എന്ത് എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ആലോചിച്ചുപറയുവിൻ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21 Ahithophel told him, “Go and sleep with your father's concubines—the ones he left here to look after the palace. Then everyone in Israel will realize that you have so offended your father there's no turning back, which will encourage all your supporters.”

൨൧അഹീഥോഫെൽ അബ്ശാലോമിനോട്: “രാജധാനി സൂക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ നിന്റെ അപ്പൻ പാർപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള അവന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളുമായി ശാരീരിക ബന്ധത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെടുക; നീ നിന്റെ അപ്പന് നിന്നെത്തന്നെ വെറുപ്പാക്കി എന്ന് എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലും കേൾക്കും; നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ളവർ എല്ലാവരും ധൈര്യപ്പെടും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22 So they put up a tent on the palace roof and Absalom went in and had sex with his father's concubines in the full view of everyone.

൨൨അങ്ങനെ അവർ അബ്ശാലോമിന് രാജധാനിയുടെ മുകളിൽ ഒരു കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു; അവിടെ അബ്ശാലോം എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലും കാൺകെ തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളുമായി ശാരീരിക ബന്ധത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ടു.

23 At that time Ahithophel's advice was like receiving messages from God himself. This was how both David and Absalom viewed Ahithophel's advice.

൨൩അക്കാലത്ത് അഹീഥോഫെൽ പറയുന്ന ആലോചന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു; ദാവീദിനും അബ്ശാലോമിനും അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ ആലോചനയെല്ലാം അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ ആയിരുന്നു.
