2 Kings 1
1 After Ahab died, Moab rebelled against Israel.

2 Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice-work of his upper room in Samaria and had hurt himself badly. So he sent out messengers, telling them: “Go and ask Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will get better from this injury.”
Ochozias tomba par la fenêtre en treillis de sa chambre haute à Samarie, et il fut malade. Il envoya des messagers et leur dit: « Allez consulter Béel-Zébub, dieu d’Accaron, pour savoir si je guérirai de cette maladie. »
3 But the angel of the Lord told Elijah the Tishbite, “Go and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, ‘Is it because there's no God in Israel that you're going to ask advice from Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?’
Mais l’ange de Yahweh dit à Elie, le Thesbite: « Lève-toi, monte à la rencontre des messagers du roi de Samarie, et dis-leur: “Est-ce parce qu’il n’y a pas de Dieu en Israël que vous allez consulter Béel-Zébub, dieu d’Accaron?”
4 So this is the Lord's answer: ‘You will not leave the bed on which you are lying. You're definitely going to die.’” And Elijah left.
C’est pourquoi ainsi dit Yahweh: “Du lit sur lequel tu es monté, tu ne descendras pas, tu mourras certainement.” » Et Elie s’en alla.
5 The messengers returned to the king, and he asked them, “Why have you come back?”
Les messagers retournèrent auprès d’Ochozias, et il leur dit: « Pourquoi revenez-vous? »
6 “A man came and met us,” they replied. “He told us, ‘Go back to the king who sent you, and tell him, This is what the Lord says: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending to ask advice from Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? As a result you will not leave the bed on which you are lying. You're definitely going to die.’”
Ils lui répondirent: « Un homme est monté à notre rencontre et nous a dit: Allez, retournez vers le roi qui vous a envoyés, et dites-lui: Ainsi dit Yahweh: Est-ce parce qu’il n’y a pas de Dieu en Israël que tu envoies consulter Béel-Zébub, dieu d’Accaron? C’est pourquoi du lit sur lequel tu es monté, tu ne descendras pas, mais tu mourras certainement. »
7 “What was he like, this man who met you and told you all this?” the king asked.
Ochozias leur dit: « Quel était l’aspect de l’homme qui est monté à votre rencontre et qui vous a dit ces paroles? »
8 “He was a hairy man wearing a leather belt around his waist,” they replied. “It's Elijah the Tishbite,” said the king.
Ils lui répondirent: « C’était un homme velu, avec une ceinture de cuir autour des reins. » Et Ochozias dit: « C’est Elie, le Thesbite. »
9 Then the king sent an army captain with fifty men to Elijah. The captain went up to Elijah, who was sitting on the top of a hill, and told him, “Man of God, the king orders you, ‘Come down!’”
Aussitôt il envoya vers lui un chef de cinquante avec ses cinquante hommes. Ce chef monta auprès d’Elie, et voici qu’il était assis sur le sommet de la montagne, et il lui dit: « Homme de Dieu, le roi a dit: Descends! »
10 Elijah replied to the captain, “If I am a man of God, then let fire fall from heaven and burn up you and your fifty men.” Fire fell from heaven and burned up the captain and his men.
Elie répondit et dit au chef de cinquante: « Si je suis un homme de Dieu, que le feu descende du ciel et vous consume, toi et tes cinquante hommes? » Et le feu descendit du ciel et les consuma, lui et ses cinquante hommes.
11 So the king sent another captain with his fifty men to Elijah. The captain said to Elijah, “Man of God, the king orders you, Come down immediately!”
Ochozias envoya encore un autre chef de cinquante avec ses cinquante hommes. Ce chef, prenant la parole, dit à Elie: « Homme de Dieu, ainsi a dit le roi: Hâte-toi, descends! »
12 Elijah replied to the captain, “If I am a man of God, then let fire fall from heaven and burn up you and your fifty men.” Fire fell from heaven and burned up the captain and his men.
Elie répondit et leur dit: « Si je suis un homme de Dieu, que le feu descende du ciel et vous consume, toi et tes cinquante hommes! » Et le feu de Dieu descendit du ciel, et les consuma, lui et ses cinquante hommes.
13 So the king sent a third captain with his fifty men. The third captain went up, kneeled before Elijah, and pleaded with him, “Man of God, please value my life and the lives of these fifty men.
De nouveau Ochozias envoya un troisième chef de cinquante avec ses cinquante hommes. Le troisième chef de cinquante monta, et, étant arrivé, il fléchit les genoux devant Elie, et lui dit en suppliant: « Homme de Dieu, de grâce, que ma vie et que la vie de ces cinquante hommes, tes serviteurs, soit précieuse à tes yeux!
14 Yes, fire has fallen from heaven and burned up the first two captains of fifty, along with all their men. But now please value my life!”
Voici que le feu est descendu du ciel et a consumé les deux premiers chefs de cinquante et leur cinquante hommes; mais maintenant que ma vie soit précieuse à tes yeux! »
15 Then the angel of the Lord told Elijah, “Go down with him. You don't have to be afraid of him.” So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king.
L’ange de Yahweh dit à Elie: « Descends avec lui, et ne crains pas devant lui. » Elie se leva et descendit avec lui vers le roi.
16 Elijah told the king, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Is it because there's no God in Israel for you to consult that you have sent messengers to ask advice of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? As a result you will not leave the bed on which you are lying. You're definitely going to die.”
Il lui dit: « Ainsi dit Yahweh: Parce que tu as envoyé des messagers consulter Béel-Zébub, dieu d’Accaron, — n’y a-t-il pas de Dieu en Israël dont on puisse consulter la parole? — à cause de cela, du lit sur lequel tu es monté tu ne descendras pas, mais tu mourras certainement. »
17 Ahaziah died just as the Lord had said through Elijah. Because he had no son, Joram succeeded him as king in the second year of the reign of Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah.
Ochozias mourut, selon la parole de Yahweh qu’Elie avait dite; et Joram devint roi à sa place, la seconde année de Joram, fils de Josaphat, roi de Juda; car il n’avait pas de fils.
