2 Kings 2
1 Just before the Lord took Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were walking together on their way from Gilgal.
யெகோவா எலியாவை ஒரு சுழல் காற்று மூலம் பரலோகத்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோகும் நேரம் சமீபித்தபோது, எலியாவும், எலிசாவும், கில்காலிலிருந்து போய்க்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
2 Elijah said to Elisha, “Please stay here, for the Lord has sent me to Bethel.” But Elisha replied, “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Bethel.
அப்போது எலியா எலிசாவைப் பார்த்து, “யெகோவா என்னைப் பெத்தேலுக்குப் போகும்படி அனுப்பியிருக்கிறார். ஆகவே நீ இங்கேயே இரு” என்றான். ஆனால் எலிசாவோ, “யெகோவா இருப்பது நிச்சயமெனில், நீர் வாழ்வது நிச்சயம்போலவும் நான் உம்மைவிட்டு விலகமாட்டேன் என்பதும் நிச்சயம்” என்றான். எனவே இருவரும் பெத்தேலுக்குப் போனார்கள்.
3 The sons of the prophets who lived in Bethel came to Elisha and told him, “You do know that the Lord is going to take your master away from you today, don't you?” “Yes, I know,” he replied. “Don't talk about it.”
பெத்தேலிலிருந்த இறைவாக்கினர் குழு எலிசாவிடம் போய், “இன்றைக்கு யெகோவா உமது எஜமானை உம்மிடமிருந்து எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப் போகிறார் என்று உமக்குத் தெரியுமா?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். அதற்கு எலிசா, “ஆம் எனக்குத் தெரியும். ஆனால் நீங்கள் அதைப்பற்றிப் பேசாதிருங்கள்” என்றான்.
4 Then Elijah said to him, “Please stay here, Elisha, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho.” He replied, “As the Lord lives, and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho.
அதன்பின் எலியா அவனிடம், “எலி சாவே நீ இங்கேயே தங்கியிரு, யெகோவா என்னை எரிகோவுக்கு அனுப்புகிறார்” என்றான். அதற்கு எலிசா, “யெகோவா இருப்பது நிச்சயமெனில், நீர் வாழ்வது நிச்சயம்போலவும், நான் உம்மைவிட்டு விலகமாட்டேன் என்பதும் நிச்சயம்” என்றான். அவர்கள் இருவரும் எரிகோவுக்குப் போனார்கள்.
5 The sons of the prophets who lived in Jericho came to Elisha and told him, “You do know that the Lord is going to take your master away from you today, don't you?” “Yes, I know,” he replied. “Don't talk about it.”
எரிகோவிலிருந்த இறைவாக்கு உரைப்போரின் கூட்டம் எலிசாவிடம் போய், “இன்றைக்கு யெகோவா உமது எஜமானை உம்மிடத்திலிருந்து எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப் போகிறார் என்று உமக்குத் தெரியுமா?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். அதற்கு எலிசா, “ஆம் எனக்குத் தெரியும், ஆனால் நீங்கள் இதைப்பற்றிப் பேசாதிருங்கள்” என்றான்.
6 Then Elijah said to him, “Please stay here, Elisha, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” He replied, “As the Lord lives, and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they travelled on together.
அதன்பின் எலியா எலிசாவிடம், “நீ இங்கே தங்கியிரு; யெகோவா என்னை யோர்தானுக்கு அனுப்புகிறார்” என்றான். அதற்கு அவன், “யெகோவா இருப்பது நிச்சயமெனில், நீர் வாழ்வது நிச்சயம்போலவும் நான் உம்மைவிட்டு விலகமாட்டேன் என்பதும் நிச்சயம்” என்றான். எனவே இருவரும் தொடர்ந்து நடந்தார்கள்.
7 Then a group of fifty of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing Elijah and Elisha at a distance as the two of them stood by the Jordan.
ஐம்பதுபேர் கொண்ட இறைவாக்கினர் கூட்டமொன்று, எலியாவும் எலிசாவும் யோர்தானின் அருகே நின்ற இடத்தை சிறிது தொலைவில் நின்று பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
8 Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up, and hit the water. It divided to the one side and to the other and both of them crossed over on dry ground.
அப்பொழுது எலியா தன் மேலுடையை எடுத்து அதைச் சுருட்டி அதனால் யோர்தான் தண்ணீரை அடித்தான். தண்ணீர் வலப்பக்கமும், இடப்பக்கமுமாக இரண்டாகப் பிரிந்தது. அவர்கள் இருவரும் காய்ந்த நிலத்தில் நடந்து அக்கரைக்குப் போனார்கள்.
9 When they arrived on the other side, Elijah asked Elisha, “What can I do for you before I'm taken from you?” “Please let me have a double amount of your spirit,” Elisha replied.
அவர்கள் அக்கரைக்குப் போனபோது எலியா எலிசாவைப் பார்த்து, “நான் உன்னைவிட்டு எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்படுவதற்கு முன்பு நான் உனக்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டுமென்று விரும்புகிறாய்” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு எலிசா, “உம்முடைய ஆவியின் இரட்டிப்பான பங்கை எனக்கு உரிமையாகத் தாரும்” என்றான்.
10 “What you have asked for is hard,” Elijah responded. “But if you see me when I am taken from you, you will have it, otherwise not.”
அப்பொழுது எலியா அவனைப் பார்த்து, “கஷ்டமான ஒரு காரியத்தைக் கேட்டிருக்கிறாய். ஆனாலும் உன்னைவிட்டு நான் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்படும்போது என்னை நீ கண்டாயானால் நீ கேட்டபடி கிடைக்கும். இல்லாவிட்டால் கிடைக்காது” என்று கூறினான்.
11 As they were walking along, talking, a chariot of fire and horses of fire came between them, and Elijah was taken up in the whirlwind to heaven.
அதன்பின் அவர்கள் இருவரும் பேசிக்கொண்டு நடந்துபோகையில் திடீரென நெருப்புத் தேரும், நெருப்புக் குதிரைகளும் தோன்றி அவர்கள் இருவரையும் பிரித்தது. எலியா ஒரு சுழல் காற்றில் பரலோகத்துக்குப் போனான்.
12 Elisha saw what happened and cried out, “My father! My father! Look! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” Then Elisha couldn't see him anymore. He took his clothes and ripped them to pieces.
எலிசா அதைப் பார்த்து, “என் தகப்பனே! என் தகப்பனே! இஸ்ரயேலின் தேர்களே! குதிரைவீரரே!” என்று பலமாகச் சத்தமிட்டான். அதன்பின்பு எலிசா அவனைக் காணவில்லை. அப்பொழுது எலிசா தன் உடைகளைப் பிடித்து இரண்டாகக் கிழித்தான்.
13 Then Elisha picked up Elijah's cloak that had fallen from him, and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan.
எலியாவிடமிருந்து கீழே விழுந்த மேலுடையை எலிசா எடுத்துக்கொண்டு திரும்பிப்போய் யோர்தானின் கரையில் நின்றான்.
14 He took Elijah's cloak that had fallen from him, hit the water, and cried out, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” When he hit the water, it divided to the one side and to the other and Elisha crossed over.
அதன்பின் அவனிடமிருந்து விழுந்த உடையை எடுத்து அதனால் தண்ணீரை அடித்தான். பின் அவன், “எலியாவின் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா இப்போது எங்கே?” என்றான். அவன் தண்ணீரை அடித்தபோது அது வலது புறமாகவும், இடது புறமாகவும் பிரிந்துபோக, அவன் அதைக் கடந்து மறுபக்கம் போனான்.
15 The sons of the prophets who lived in Jericho saw him from the opposite side and shouted out, “Elijah's spirit now rests upon Elisha!” They went over to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.
எரிகோவில் அதைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்த இறைவாக்கினரின் கூட்டம், “எலியாவின் ஆவி எலிசாவின்மேல் தங்கியிருக்கிறது” என்று சொன்னார்கள். அவர்கள் அவனைச் சந்திக்க எதிர்கொண்டுபோய் அவனுக்கு முன்பாக தரைமட்டும் தலைகுனிந்து வணங்கினார்கள்.
16 “Look,” they said to Elisha, “we your servants have fifty good men here. Please allow them to go and search for your master. Maybe the Spirit of the Lord has taken him and put him down on a mountain or in a valley somewhere.” “Don't bother sending them,” Elisha replied.
பின்பு அவர்கள், “உமது அடியவராகிய எங்களிடம் ஐம்பது பலமான மனிதர் இருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் போய் உம்முடைய தலைவனைத் தேடட்டும். ஒருவேளை யெகோவாவின் ஆவியானவர் அவரை மேலே தூக்கிக்கொண்டுபோய் ஏதாவது ஒரு மலையிலோ, பள்ளத்தாக்கிலோ விட்டிருக்கக் கூடும்” என்றார்கள். அதற்கு எலிசா, “அப்படியல்ல நீங்கள் அவர்களை அனுப்பவேண்டாம்” என்றான்.
17 But they went on trying to persuade him until he was too embarrassed to say no. “Go ahead and send them,” he told them. So they sent fifty men, who searched for Elijah for three days but couldn't find him.
அவன் மறுத்தும் விடாமல் அவர்கள் அவனை வற்புறுத்தினார்கள். எனவே, “அவர்களை அனுப்புங்கள்” என்று எலிசா கூறினான். அவர்கள் ஐம்பது பேரை அனுப்பி மூன்று நாட்களாகத் தேடியும் அவனைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கவில்லை.
18 When they returned to Elisha, who was staying in Jericho, he said to them, “Didn't I tell you not to bother going?”
எரிகோவில் தங்கியிருந்த எலிசாவிடம் அவர்கள் திரும்பிவந்தபோது எலிசா அவர்களிடம், “போகவேண்டாம் என்று நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லவில்லையா” என்று கேட்டான்.
19 The townspeople said to Elisha, “Look, sir, while our town has a good location as you can see, the water is bad and the soil is poor.”
அந்தப் பட்டணத்து மனிதர் எலிசாவைப் பார்த்து, “ஆண்டவனாகிய நீர் காண்கிறபடி உண்மையாக இந்தப் பட்டணம் சிறந்த சூழலில் அமைந்துள்ளது. ஆனால் தண்ணீரோ பயன்படுத்த உகந்ததல்ல. அத்துடன் நிலமும் பலனற்றதாயிருக்கிறது” என்றார்கள்.
20 “Bring me a brand new bowl and put some salt in it,” he replied. So they brought it to him.
அப்பொழுது அவன், “என்னிடம் ஒரு புதிய பாத்திரத்தைக் கொண்டுவந்து அதில் சிறிது உப்புப் போடுங்கள்” என்றான். அப்படியே அதை அவர்கள் அவனிடம் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.
21 Then Elisha went to the spring, threw the salt into it, and said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have purified this water. It won't cause death or miscarriages anymore.’”
அவன் நீரூற்றண்டைக்குப் போய் அதற்குள்ளே உப்பை வீசி, “யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: ‘நான் இந்தத் தண்ணீரை சுத்தமாக்கியிருக்கிறேன். இனிமேல் இது மரணத்தை உண்டாக்கவோ, நிலத்தைப் பலனற்றதாக்கவோமாட்டாது’ என்கிறார்” என்றான்.
22 The water there is still pure to this very day, just as Elisha said it would be.
எலிசா சொன்ன வார்த்தையின்படி அந்தத் தண்ணீர் இன்றுவரை தூய்மையாகவே இருக்கிறது.
23 Elisha went on from there to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of youths came from the town. They made fun of him, calling out, “Go on up, baldy! Go on up, baldy!”
அங்கிருந்து எலிசா பெத்தேலுக்குப் போனான். அவன் வீதி வழியாக நடந்து கொண்டிருக்கும்போது பட்டணத்திலிருந்து சில வாலிபர்கள் வந்து, “மொட்டைத் தலையா ஏறிப்போ, மொட்டைத் தலையா ஏறிப்போ” என்று கூறி அவனைக் கேலி செய்தார்கள்.
24 Turning around, he looked at them and called down a curse on them in the Lord's name. Suddenly two female bears came out of the forest and mauled forty-two of them.
அவன் திரும்பிப்பார்த்து, யெகோவாவின் பெயரால் அவர்களைச் சபித்தான். அப்போது இரண்டு கரடிகள் காட்டுக்குள்ளிருந்து வந்து அவர்களில் நாற்பத்திரண்டு வாலிபர்களைக் கொன்றுபோட்டது.
25 Elisha carried on to Mount Carmel, and from there he went back to Samaria.
அங்கிருந்து அவன் கர்மேல் மலைக்குப் போய், பின் சமாரியாவுக்குத் திரும்பிச்சென்றான்.
