2 Kings 2
1 Just before the Lord took Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were walking together on their way from Gilgal.
യഹോവ ഏലീയാവെ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു എടുത്തുകൊൾവാൻ ഭാവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടു കൂടെ ഗിൽഗാലിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
2 Elijah said to Elisha, “Please stay here, for the Lord has sent me to Bethel.” But Elisha replied, “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Bethel.
ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടു: നീ ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചുകൊൾക: യഹോവ എന്നെ ബേഥേലിലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എലീശാ അവനോടു: യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ബേഥേലിലേക്കു പോയി.
3 The sons of the prophets who lived in Bethel came to Elisha and told him, “You do know that the Lord is going to take your master away from you today, don't you?” “Yes, I know,” he replied. “Don't talk about it.”
ബേഥേലിലെ പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാർ എലീശയുടെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തുവന്നു അവനോടു: യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ നിന്റെ തലെക്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളും എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: അതേ, ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4 Then Elijah said to him, “Please stay here, Elisha, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho.” He replied, “As the Lord lives, and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho.
ഏലീയാവു അവനോടു: എലീശയേ, നീ ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചുകൊൾക; യഹോവ എന്നെ യെരീഹോവിലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ യെരീഹോവിലേക്കു പോയി.
5 The sons of the prophets who lived in Jericho came to Elisha and told him, “You do know that the Lord is going to take your master away from you today, don't you?” “Yes, I know,” he replied. “Don't talk about it.”
യെരീഹോവിലെ പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാർ എലീശയുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവനോടു: യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ നിന്റെ തലെക്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളും എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു അവൻ: അതേ, ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6 Then Elijah said to him, “Please stay here, Elisha, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” He replied, “As the Lord lives, and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they travelled on together.
ഏലീയാവു അവനോടു: നീ ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചുകൊൾക; യഹോവ എന്നെ യോർദ്ദാങ്കലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതിന്നു അവൻ യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഇരുവരുംകൂടെ പോയി.
7 Then a group of fifty of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing Elijah and Elisha at a distance as the two of them stood by the Jordan.
പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ അമ്പതുപേർ ചെന്നു അവർക്കെതിരെ ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു; അവർ ഇരുവരും യോർദ്ദാന്നരികെ നിന്നു.
8 Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up, and hit the water. It divided to the one side and to the other and both of them crossed over on dry ground.
അപ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു തന്റെ പുതപ്പു എടുത്തു മടക്കി വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചു; അതു അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും പിരിഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഇരുവരും ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തുകൂടി അക്കരെക്കു കടന്നു.
9 When they arrived on the other side, Elijah asked Elisha, “What can I do for you before I'm taken from you?” “Please let me have a double amount of your spirit,” Elisha replied.
അവർ അക്കരെ കടന്നശേഷം ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടു: ഞാൻ നിങ്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളപ്പെടുംമുമ്പെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു എന്തു ചെയ്തു തരേണം? ചോദിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു എലീശാ: നിന്റെ ആത്മാവിൽ ഇരട്ടി പങ്കു എന്റെമേൽ വരുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
10 “What you have asked for is hard,” Elijah responded. “But if you see me when I am taken from you, you will have it, otherwise not.”
അതിന്നു അവൻ: നീ പ്രയാസമുള്ള കാര്യമാകുന്നു ചോദിച്ചതു; ഞാൻ നിങ്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ നീ എന്നെ കാണുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ നിനക്കു അങ്ങനെ ഉണ്ടാകും; അല്ലെന്നുവരികിൽ ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11 As they were walking along, talking, a chariot of fire and horses of fire came between them, and Elijah was taken up in the whirlwind to heaven.
അവർ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അഗ്നിരഥവും അഗ്ന്യശ്വങ്ങളും വന്നു അവരെ തമ്മിൽ വേർപിരിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ ഏലീയാവു ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു കയറി.
12 Elisha saw what happened and cried out, “My father! My father! Look! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” Then Elisha couldn't see him anymore. He took his clothes and ripped them to pieces.
എലീശാ അതു കണ്ടിട്ടു: എന്റെ പിതാവേ, എന്റെ പിതാവേ, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ തേരും തേരാളികളും എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു, പിന്നെ അവനെ കണ്ടില്ല; അപ്പോൾ അവൻ തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പിടിച്ചു രണ്ടു ഖണ്ഡമായി കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
13 Then Elisha picked up Elijah's cloak that had fallen from him, and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan.
പിന്നെ അവൻ ഏലീയാവിന്മേൽനിന്നു വീണ പുതപ്പു എടുത്തു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു യോർദ്ദാന്നരികെ നിന്നു.
14 He took Elijah's cloak that had fallen from him, hit the water, and cried out, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” When he hit the water, it divided to the one side and to the other and Elisha crossed over.
ഏലീയാവിന്മേൽനിന്നു വീണ പുതപ്പുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചു: ഏലീയാവിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എവിടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചപ്പോൾ അതു അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും പിരിഞ്ഞു. എലീശാ ഇക്കരെക്കു കടന്നു.
15 The sons of the prophets who lived in Jericho saw him from the opposite side and shouted out, “Elijah's spirit now rests upon Elisha!” They went over to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.
യെരീഹോവിൽ അവന്നെതിരെ നിന്നിരുന്നു പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു: ഏലീയാവിന്റെ ആത്മാവു എലീശയുടെമേൽ അധിവസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു.
16 “Look,” they said to Elisha, “we your servants have fifty good men here. Please allow them to go and search for your master. Maybe the Spirit of the Lord has taken him and put him down on a mountain or in a valley somewhere.” “Don't bother sending them,” Elisha replied.
അവർ അവനോടു: ഇതാ, അടിയങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ അമ്പതു ബലശാലികൾ ഉണ്ടു; അവർ ചെന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ അന്വേഷിക്കട്ടെ; പക്ഷേ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവനെ എടുത്തു വല്ല മലയിലോ താഴ്‌വരയിലോ എങ്ങാനും ഇട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: നിങ്ങൾ അയക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17 But they went on trying to persuade him until he was too embarrassed to say no. “Go ahead and send them,” he told them. So they sent fifty men, who searched for Elijah for three days but couldn't find him.
അവർ അവനെ അത്യന്തം നിർബ്ബന്ധിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവൻ: എന്നാൽ അയച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ അമ്പതുപേരെ അയച്ചു; അവർ മൂന്നുദിവസം അന്വേഷിച്ചിട്ടും അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയില്ല.
18 When they returned to Elisha, who was staying in Jericho, he said to them, “Didn't I tell you not to bother going?”
അവൻ യെരീഹോവിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവന്നു; അവൻ അവരോടു: പോകരുതു എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
19 The townspeople said to Elisha, “Look, sir, while our town has a good location as you can see, the water is bad and the soil is poor.”
അനന്തരം ആ പട്ടണക്കാർ എലീശയോടു: ഈ പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ ഇരിപ്പു മനോഹരമായതെന്നു യജമാനൻ കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്നാൽ വെള്ളം ചീത്തയും ദേശം ഗർഭനാശകവും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20 “Bring me a brand new bowl and put some salt in it,” he replied. So they brought it to him.
അതിന്നു അവൻ: ഒരു പുതിയ തളിക കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അതിൽ ഉപ്പു ഇടുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ അതു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
21 Then Elisha went to the spring, threw the salt into it, and said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have purified this water. It won't cause death or miscarriages anymore.’”
അവൻ നീരുറവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അതിൽ ഉപ്പു ഇട്ടു. ഞാൻ ഈ വെള്ളം പഥ്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനി ഇതിനാൽ മരണവും ഗർഭനാശവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22 The water there is still pure to this very day, just as Elisha said it would be.
എലീശാ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആ വെള്ളം ഇന്നുവരെ പഥ്യമായിത്തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
23 Elisha went on from there to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of youths came from the town. They made fun of him, calling out, “Go on up, baldy! Go on up, baldy!”
പിന്നെ അവൻ അവിടെനിന്നു ബേഥേലിലേക്കു പോയി; അവൻ വഴിയിൽ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ ബാലന്മാർ പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു അവനോടു: മൊട്ടത്തലയാ, കയറി വാ; മൊട്ടത്തലയാ, കയറി വാ; എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
24 Turning around, he looked at them and called down a curse on them in the Lord's name. Suddenly two female bears came out of the forest and mauled forty-two of them.
അവൻ പിന്നോക്കം തിരിഞ്ഞു അവനെ നോക്കി യഹോവനാമത്തിൽ അവരെ ശപിച്ചു; അപ്പോൾ കാട്ടിൽനിന്നു രണ്ടു പെൺകരടി ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു അവരിൽ നാല്പത്തിരണ്ടു ബാലന്മാരെ കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
25 Elisha carried on to Mount Carmel, and from there he went back to Samaria.
അവൻ അവിടംവിട്ടു കർമ്മേൽപർവ്വതത്തിലേക്കു പോയി; അവിടെനിന്നു ശമര്യയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.
