< 2 Kings 11 >

1 When Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she had all the rest of the royal family murdered.
Ɛberɛ a Yudahene Ahasia, ne maame Atalia tee sɛ ne babarima no awuo no, ɔkɔeɛ sɛ ɔrekɔsɛe adehyebusua a aka no.
2 But Jehosheba, daughter of King Jehoram, sister of Ahaziah, took Ahaziah's son Joash, stealing him away from the rest of the sons of the king who were being killed. She put him and his nurse in a bedroom to hide him from Athaliah, and he was not murdered.
Nanso, Ahasia nuabaa Yehoseba a na ɔyɛ ɔhene Yehoram babaa no faa Ahasia ba abarimaa ketewa Yoas, yii no firii ɔhene no mma a anka wɔrebɛkunkum wɔn no mu. Yehoseba de Yoas ne ne bagyegyefoɔ kɔhintaa pia bi mu, sɛdeɛ Atalia renhunu no. Ɛno enti, wɔannya abɔfra no ankum no.
3 Joash stayed hidden in the Lord's Temple for six years while Athaliah ruled the country.
Yoas ne deɛ ɔgyegye no no hintaaeɛ, wɔ Awurade asɔredan mu mfeɛ nsia, ɛberɛ a na Atalia di ɔhene wɔ asase no so no.
4 In the seventh year, Jehoiada sent for the commanders of hundreds, the Carites, and the guards, and brought them into the Lord's Temple. He made an agreement with them and made them swear an oath. There in the Lord's Temple he showed them the king's son
Atalia adedie mfeɛ nson mu no, ɔsɔfoɔ Yehoiada soma ma wɔkɔfaa Karifoɔ asraafoɔ apaafoɔ ne awɛmfoɔ baa Awurade asɔredan mu hɔ. Ɔne wɔn yɛɛ nhyehyɛeɛ, na ɔma wɔkaa ntam sɛ wɔbɛdi nokorɛ wɔ Awurade asɔredan mu hɔ. Afei, ɔde ɔhene babarima Yoas kyerɛɛ wɔn.
5 and ordered them, “This is what you are going to do: One third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath will guard the royal palace.
Yehoiada ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Deɛ ɛsɛ sɛ moyɛ nie. Mo mu nkyɛmu mmiɛnsa mu baako a moyɛ adwuma homeda no bɛwɛn ahemfie no.
6 One third will be at the Sur Gate, and one third at the gate behind the guards. You will alternate in guarding the palace.
Nkyɛmu mmiɛnsa mu baako nso, nnwɛn wɔ Sur ɛpono no ano. Na nkyɛmu mmiɛnsa mu baako a aka no nso, bɛwɛn ahemfie no akyi. Saa akuo mmiɛnsa yi nyinaa bɛwɛn ahemfie no.
7 The two divisions that would normally go off duty on the Sabbath will guard the Lord's Temple for the king.
Akuo mmienu a wɔamma adwuma homeda no nso bɛwɛn ama ɔhene no wɔ Awurade asɔredan mu.
8 Surround the king with weapons drawn, and anyone who approaches this line must be killed. Stay close to the king wherever he goes.”
Mobɛyɛ ɔhene ho awɛmfoɔ kuo, a mokurakura mo akodeɛ. Onipa biara a wɔmmaa no kwan a ɔbɛbɛn mo no, monkum no. Ɛberɛ biara, mommɛn ɔhene no.”
9 The commanders of hundreds followed all the instructions that Jehoiada the priest had given. They each took their own men, those who were coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
Na asahene no dii biribiara a ɔsɔfoɔ Yehoiada hyɛɛ sɛ wɔnyɛ no so pɛpɛɛpɛ. Asahene no faa asraafoɔ a wɔbaa adwuma homeda no ne wɔn a wɔakɔ adwuma da no no. Wɔde wɔn nyinaa baa ɔsɔfoɔ Yehoiada anim.
10 Then the priest handed over to the commanders of hundreds the spears and shields that had belonged to King David which were kept in the Lord's Temple.
Ɔmaa wɔn mpea ne akyɛm a na berɛ bi ɛyɛ ɔhene Dawid dea a na wɔakora no Awurade asɔredan mu hɔ no.
11 The guards stood with weapons drawn surrounding the king by the altar, and in a line around the Temple, from the south side to the north side of the Temple.
Awɛmfoɔ no gyinagyinaa ɔhene no ho hyiaeɛ a wɔkurakura wɔn akodeɛ. Wɔsaa so tee firii asɔredan no anafoɔ fam, de kɔfaa atifi fam, ne afɔrebukyia no ho nyinaa.
12 Then Jehoiada led out the king's son, placed the crown on him, and handed him a copy of God's Law. They proclaimed him king and anointed him. The people clapped, and shouted, “Long live the king!”
Na Yehoiada de ɔhene babarima Yoas no pueeɛ, hyɛɛ no ahenkyɛ. Ɔmaa Yoas Onyankopɔn apam no nhwɛsoɔ no bi, sii no ɔhene. Wɔsraa no, na nnipa no nyinaa bɔɔ wɔn nsam, teateaam sɛ, “Ɔhene nkwa so!”
13 When Athaliah heard the noise of the guards and the people, she rushed to the crowds at the Lord's Temple.
Atalia tee gyegyeegye no a awɛmfoɔ no ne nnipa no reyɛ no, ɔyɛɛ ntɛm kɔɔ Awurade asɔredan mu hɔ, kɔhwɛɛ deɛ ɛrekɔ so.
14 She saw the king standing by his pillar as the custom was. The commanders and trumpeters were with the king, and everyone was celebrating and blowing trumpets. Athaliah ripped her clothes and screamed out, “Treason! Treason!”
Ɔhunuu sɛ ɔhene foforɔ no gyina beaeɛ bi a ɛkyerɛ ne tumi wɔ afadum no ho, sɛdeɛ amanneɛ kyerɛ wɔ ahensie mu no. Na mpanimfoɔ ne totorobɛntohyɛnfoɔ atwa ne ho ahyia. 15 Jehoiada ordered the army commanders, “Bring her to the men standing in front of the Temple, and kill anyone who follows her.” Earlier the priest had made it clear, “She must not be killed in the Lord's Temple.”
Na ɔsɔfoɔ Yehoiada hyɛɛ asafohene a wɔhwɛ nsraadɔm no so no sɛ, “Momfa no mfiri asɔredan mu ha, na monkum obiara a ɔpɛ sɛ ɔgye no. Monnkum no wɔ Awurade asɔredan mu ha.”
16 They grabbed hold of her, took her to where the horses enter the palace grounds and they killed her there.
Enti, wɔkyeree no de no puee ɛpono no ano wɔ baabi a apɔnkɔ fa ba ahemfie hɔ no, kumm no wɔ hɔ.
17 Then Jehoiada made a solemn agreement between the Lord, the king, and the people that they would be the Lord's people. He also made an agreement between the king and the people.
Na Yehoiada yɛɛ apam de too Awurade ne ɔhene ne nnipa no ntam sɛ, wɔbɛyɛ Awurade nkurɔfoɔ. Ɔsane yɛɛ apam too ɔhene no ne nnipa no ntam.
18 Everyone went to the Temple of Baal and tore down its altars and smashed the idols to pieces. They killed Mattan, the priest of Baal, right in front of the altar. Then Jehoiada the priest had guards posted at the Lord's Temple.
Na nnipa a wɔwɔ asase no so nyinaa kɔɔ Baal abosonnan mu, kɔbubu guu fam. Wɔbubuu afɔrebukyia ne ahoni ahodoɔ nyinaa no asinasini, kumm Baal ɔbosomfoɔ Matan nso wɔ afɔrebukyia no anim. Ɔsɔfoɔ Yehoiada maa awɛmfoɔ wɛnee Awurade asɔredan no.
19 Along with the commanders, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people, he led the king in a procession down from the Lord's Temple, entering through the upper gate to the royal palace. There they set the king on the royal throne.
Na asahene, Karifoɔ asraafoɔ apaafoɔ, awɛmfoɔ no ne nnipa a wɔwɔ asase no so nyinaa dii ɔhene no akyi, de no pue firii Awurade asɔredan no mu. Wɔfaa awɛmfoɔ no ɛpono no ano, kɔɔ ahemfie hɔ, na ɔhene no kɔtenaa ahennwa no so.
20 All throughout the land people celebrated, and Jerusalem was at peace, because Athaliah had been killed by the sword at the palace.
Enti, nnipa a wɔwɔ asase no so nyinaa dii ahurisie, na asomdwoeɛ baa kuropɔn no mu, ɛfiri sɛ, wɔakum Atalia wɔ ahemfie.
21 Joash was seven when he became king.
