2 Chronicles 25
1 Amaziah was twenty-five when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for twenty-nine years. His mother's name was Jehoaddan and she came from Jerusalem.
೧ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಪಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದು ವರ್ಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೊಂಭತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವಳಾದ ಯೆಹೋವದ್ದಾನ್ ಎಂಬಾಕೆಯು ಅವನ ತಾಯಿ.
2 He did what was right in the Lord's sight but not with complete commitment.
೨ಅವನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಚಿತ್ತಾನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ ನಡೆದನು; ಆದರೆ ಯಥಾರ್ಥಚಿತ್ತನಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
3 After he had made sure his rule was secure, he executed the officers who had murdered his father the king.
೩ಅವನು ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಕೂಡಲೆ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊಂದ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.
4 However, he did not kill their sons, as is written in the Law, in the book of Moses, where the Lord commanded: “Fathers must not be executed for their children, and children must not be executed for their fathers. Everyone is to die for their own sin.”
೪ಆದರೆ, “ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪಾಪದ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ತಂದೆಗೂ ತಂದೆಯ ಪಾಪದ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ ಮರಣ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯಾಗಬಾರದು; ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೂ ತನ್ನ ಪಾಪದ ಫಲವನ್ನು ತಾನೇ ಅನುಭವಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಮೋಶೆಯ ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ನೆನಪು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
5 Then Amaziah called up the people of Judah for military service, and assigned them by families to commanders of thousands and of hundreds. He also took a census of those twenty years of age and older throughout Judah and Benjamin, and found there was 300,000 first-rate fighting men who could use spear and shield.
೫ಆಮೇಲೆ ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿ, ಶತಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳ ಕೈಕೆಳಗೆ ಯೆಹೂದ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ ಕುಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯಾ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಮೇಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಬರ್ಜಿ ಗುರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಡತಕ್ಕ ಶೂರರು ಮೂರು ಲಕ್ಷ ಮಂದಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದರು.
6 He also hired 100,000 battle-ready fighting men from Israel for a hundred talents of silver.
೬ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನು ನೂರು ತಲಾಂತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಂದಲೂ ಲಕ್ಷ ಮಂದಿ ಭಟರನ್ನು ತರಿಸಿದನು.
7 But a man of God came to him and said, “Your Majesty, don't let this army of Israel join you, for the Lord is not with Israel, with these sons of Ephraim!
೭ಆಗ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೊಬ್ಬನು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಅರಸನೇ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಸೈನ್ಯದವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬಾರದು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯರಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೈಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
8 Even if you fight bravely, God will let you stumble and fall before the enemy, for God has the power to help you or let you fall.”
೮ನೀನೇ ಹೋಗಿ ಆ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸು; ಧೈರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡು. ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡದಿದ್ದರೆ ದೇವರು ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಂದ ನೀನು ಅಪಜಯಹೊಂದುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವನು, ಜಯಾ, ಅಪಜಯಗಳನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಆತನು ಶಕ್ತನಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನಲ್ಲವೆ?” ಎಂದನು.
9 Amaziah asked the man of God, “But what about the hundred talents of silver I paid the army of Israel?” “The Lord can give you much more than that!” replied the man of God.
೯ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು, “ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನಾನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಸೈನ್ಯಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ನೂರು ತಲಾಂತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನೇನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡಬಲ್ಲನು” ಎಂದನು.
10 So Amaziah dismissed the army he'd hired from Ephraim and sent them home. They became very angry with Judah, and returned home furious.
೧೦ಆಗ ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯ ರಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಅವರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಹಳ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು.
11 Amaziah then bravely led his army to the Valley of Salt, where they attacked the Edomite army from Seir, and killed ten thousand of them.
೧೧ಅಮಚ್ಯನಾದರೋ ಧೈರ್ಯದಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಉಪ್ಪಿನ ತಗ್ಗಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಸೇಯೀರ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು.
12 The army of Judah also captured another ten thousand, took them to the top of a cliff and threw them off, killing them all.
೧೨ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಬೇರೆ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಜೀವಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದು, ಕಡಿದಾದ ಬಂಡೆಯ ತುದಿಗೆ ಒಯ್ದು, ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಚೂರು ಚೂರಾಗುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೆಳಕ್ಕೆ ದೊಬ್ಬಿದರು.
13 But the men of the army Amaziah sent home, refusing to let them go with him to battle, raided the towns of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon They killed 3,000 of their inhabitants and took a great deal of plunder.
೧೩ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಬಾರದೆಂದು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಗುಂಪಿನವರು ಸಮಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಬೇತ್ಹೋರೋನಿಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಯೆಹೂದ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾಳಿಮಾಡಿ ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದರು
14 When Amaziah returned from killing the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the people of Seir and set them up as his own gods, worshiped them, and offered sacrifices to them.
೧೪ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಎದೋಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದ ಮೇಲೆ, ತಾನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಸೇಯೀರಿನವರ ದೇವತಾಪ್ರತಿಮೆಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ದೇವರುಗಳೆಂದು ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿಸಿ ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದು ಧೂಪ ಹಾಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
15 The Lord became angry with Amaziah and he sent a prophet to him, who said to him, “Why would you worship the gods of a people who couldn't even save their own people from you?”
೧೫ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅಮಚ್ಯನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು, ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದ ಅನ್ಯದೇವತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ಭಕ್ತಿ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
16 But while he was still speaking, the king said to him, “Have we made you a counselor to the king? Stop right now! Do you want to be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but said, “I know that God has decided to destroy you, because you have acted like this and have refused to listen to my advice.”
೧೬ಆ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗೆ ಅರಸನು, “ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಆಲೋಚನಾಮಂತ್ರಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿದವರು ಯಾರು?; ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರು, ನಿನಗೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟು ಬೇಕೋ?” ಎಂದನು. ಅವನು, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದವನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸದೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನಾನು ಬಲ್ಲೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಸುಮ್ಮನಾದನು.
17 Then Amaziah, king of Judah, took advice from his counselors and sent a message to the king of Israel, Jehoash, son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu. “Come and face me in battle,” he challenged.
೧೭ಅನಂತರ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ ನಡೆಸಿ, ಯೇಹುವಿನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ, ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನ ಮಗನೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನೂ ಆದ ಯೋವಾಷನಿಗೆ, “ನಾವು ಒಬ್ಬರನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳೋಣ” ಎಂದು ದೂತರ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
18 Joash, king of Israel, replied to Amaziah, king of Judah, “A thistle on Lebanon sent a message to a cedar on Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son for a wife,’ but a wild animal of Lebanon passed by and trampled down the thistle.
೧೮ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೋವಾಷನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಮಚ್ಯನಿಗೆ, “ಲೆಬನೋನಿನ ಒಂದು ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಿಡವು, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ದೇವದಾರು ಮರಕ್ಕೆ, ‘ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿತು. ತುಸು ಹೊತ್ತಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಲೆಬನೋನಿನ ಒಂದು ಕಾಡುಮೃಗವು ಆ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಹಾದು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಆ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಿಡವನ್ನು ತುಳಿದು ಬಿಟ್ಟಿತು.
19 You're telling yourself how great you are for defeating Edom, boasting about it. But just stay at home. Why should you stir up trouble that will bring you down, and Judah with you?”
೧೯ಅಹಹ! ಎದೋಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಬಹಳ ಕೀರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡಕೊಂಡೆ, ಎಂದು ನೀನು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಪಡುತಿರುವೆ; ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದೇ? ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೆಣಕಿ ನಿನಗೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಯೆಹೂದ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಏಕೆ ಕೇಡನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
20 But Amaziah didn't listen, for God was going to hand him over to his enemies because he had chosen to worship the gods of Edom.
೨೦ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಆ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಅದು ದೇವರ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪದಿಂದಲೇ ಆಯಿತು. ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಎದೋಮ್ಯರ ದೇವತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನಿಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರನ್ನು ಅಪಜಯ ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಿದ್ದನು.
21 So Joash king of Israel prepared for battle. He and Amaziah, king of Judah, faced one another at Beth-shemesh in Judah.
೨೧ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೋವಾಷನು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟನು; ಅವನೂ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಮಚ್ಯನೂ ಯೆಹೂದ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಬೇತ್ಷೆಮೆಷಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರು ಎದುರುಗೊಂಡರು.
22 Judah was defeated by Israel—they all ran away home.
೨೨ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಸೋತು ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
23 Joash, king of Israel, captured Amaziah, king of Judah, son of Joash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh. He took him to Jerusalem, and demolished the wall of Jerusalem for 400 cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.
೨೩ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೋವಾಷನು, ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ, ಯೆಹೋವಾಷನ ಮಗನೂ, ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನೂ, ಆದ ಅಮಚ್ಯನನ್ನು ಬೇತ್ಷೆಮೆಷಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೆರೆ ಹಿಡಿದನು. ಅವನನ್ನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು, ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮಿನ ಮುಂಬಾಗಿಲಿಗೂ, ಮೂಲೆಯ ಬಾಗಿಲಿಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ನಾನೂರು ಮೊಳದಷ್ಟು ಕೆಡವಿಹಾಕಿದ್ದಲ್ಲದೆ,
24 He carried away all the gold and silver, and all the articles found in God's Temple that had been looked after by Obed-edom and in the treasuries of the king's palace, as well as some hostages, and then returned to Samaria.
೨೪ಅವನು ಓಬೇದೆದೋಮನ ವಶದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನು, ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನು, ಅರಸನ ಅರಮನೆಯ ಭಂಡಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದುದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಹೊಣೆಗಾರರಾದ ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಸೆರೆ ಹಿಡಿದು ಸಮಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿದನು.
25 Amaziah, son of Joash, king of Judah, lived for fifteen years after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
೨೫ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನೂ ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಯೋವಾಷನು ಸತ್ತ ನಂತರ, ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವಾಷನ ಮಗ ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಹದಿನೈದು ವರ್ಷ ಬದುಕಿದ್ದನು.
26 The rest of what Amaziah did, from beginning to end, is written down in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.
೨೬ಅಮಚ್ಯನ ಉಳಿದ ಪೂರ್ವೋತ್ತರ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಮತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ರಾಜರ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿವೆ.
27 After Amaziah gave up following the Lord, a plot was hatched against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But the plotters sent men to Lachish to hunt him down, and they killed him there.
೨೭ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಒಳಸಂಚು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಲಾಕೀಷಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದನು; ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಆಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
28 They brought him back by horse and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
೨೮ಅವನ ಜನರು ಆ ಶವವನ್ನು ಕುದುರೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದು ಯೆಹೂದದ ರಾಜಧಾನಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಅವನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಸ್ಮಶಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು.
