2 Chronicles 22
1 The people of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, Jehoram's youngest son, king in succession to his father, since the invaders who had entered the camp with the Arabians had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, became king of Judah.
Und [2. Kön. 8,25] die Bewohner von Jerusalem machten Ahasja, [derselbe Name wie "Joahas" [Kap. 21,17], nur umgestellt] seinen jüngsten Sohn, zum König an seiner Statt; denn alle die älteren hatte die Schar ermordet, welche mit den Arabern ins Lager gekommen war. 2 Ahaziah was twenty-two when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri.
[Im hebr. Texte steht irrtümlich: 42] Jahre war Ahasja alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte ein Jahr zu Jerusalem; und der Name seiner Mutter war Athalja, die Tochter Omris.
3 Ahaziah also followed the evil ways of the family of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him to do wicked things.
Auch er wandelte auf den Wegen des Hauses Ahabs; denn seine Mutter war seine Ratgeberin zum gesetzlosen Handeln.
4 He did what was evil in the Lord's sight, just as the family of Ahab had done. For after his father's death they were his counselors, to his ruin.
Und er tat, was böse war in den Augen Jehovas, wie das Haus Ahabs; denn diese waren nach dem Tode seines Vaters seine Ratgeber, zu seinem Verderben.
5 He also followed their advice in joining with Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, in attacking Hazael, king of Aram, in Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram,
Auch ging er auf ihren Rat und zog hin mit Joram, dem Sohne Ahabs, dem König von Israel, in den Streit wider Hasael, den König von Syrien, nach Ramoth-Gilead. Und die Syrer verwundeten Joram.
6 and he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he'd received in Ramah fighting against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went to Jezreel to visit Joram, son of Ahab, because Joram was wounded.
Da kehrte er zurück, um sich in Jisreel von den Wunden heilen zu lassen, die sie ihm zu Rama geschlagen hatten, als er wider Hasael, den König von Syrien, stritt. Und Asarja, [Wahrscheinlich zu l.: Ahasja] der Sohn Jorams, der König von Juda, zog hinab, um Joram, den Sohn Ahabs, in Jisreel zu besuchen, weil er krank war.
7 Azariah's downfall came from God when he went to see Joram. When Azariah got there, he went with Joram to meet Jehu, son of Nimri. The Lord had anointed Jehu to destroy Ahab and his family.
Aber von Gott war es der Untergang Ahasjas, daß er zu Joram kam. Denn als er angekommen war, zog er mit Joram aus wider Jehu, den Sohn Nimsis, welchen Jehova gesalbt hatte, um das Haus Ahabs auszurotten. [2. Kön. 9,14-29;10,12-15]
8 While Jehu was carrying out judgment on the family of Ahab, he came across the leaders of Judah and Azariah's relatives who were assisting Ahaziah, and he killed them.
Und es geschah, als Jehu an dem Hause Ahabs Gericht übte, da traf er die Obersten von Juda und die Söhne der Brüder Ahasjas, welche Ahasja dienten; und er ermordete sie.
9 Then Jehu went looking for Ahaziah. His men found him in Samaria and captured him, and took him to Jehu where they killed him. They buried him, for they said, “He is the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who was completely committed to following the Lord.” There was no one left from Ahaziah's family to rule the kingdom.
Und er suchte Ahasja, und sie griffen ihn, als er sich in Samaria versteckt hielt; und sie brachten ihn zu Jehu und töteten ihn. Und sie begruben ihn, denn sie sprachen: Er ist ein Sohn Josaphats, der Jehova gesucht hat mit seinem ganzen Herzen. Und das Haus Ahasjas hatte niemand mehr, der zum Königtum tüchtig gewesen wäre.
10 When Athaliah Ahaziah's mother found out that her son was dead, she proceeded to kill all who remained of the royal family of Judah.
Und [2. Kön. 11,1] als Athalja, die Mutter Ahasjas, sah, daß ihr Sohn tot war, da machte sie sich auf und brachte allen königlichen Samen vom Hause Juda um.
11 But Jehoshabeath, daughter of King Jehoram, grabbed Joash, son of Ahaziah, and took him from the sons of the king who were about to be killed, and she placed him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and the wife of Jehoiada the priest, was Ahaziah's sister, she hid Joash from Athaliah so she couldn't kill him.
Aber Josabath, die Tochter des Königs, nahm Joas, den Sohn Ahasjas, und stahl ihn weg aus der Mitte der Königssöhne, die getötet wurden, und sie tat ihn und seine Amme in das Schlafgemach. [S. die Anm. zu 2. Kön. 11,2] Und so verbarg ihn Josabath, die Tochter des Königs Joram, das Weib Jojadas, des Priesters [denn sie war die Schwester Ahasjas] vor Athalja, so daß sie ihn nicht tötete.
12 And they kept Joash hidden with them in God's Temple for six years while Athaliah ruled the country.
Und er war sechs Jahre bei ihnen im Hause Gottes versteckt. Athalja aber regierte über das Land.
