2 Chronicles 14
1 Abijah died and was buried in the City of David. His son Asa took over as king. For ten years of his reign the country was at peace.
അബീയാവു തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ ആസാ അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി. അവന്റെ കാലത്തു ദേശത്തിന്നു പത്തു സംവത്സരം സ്വസ്ഥത ഉണ്ടായി.
2 Asa did what was good and right in the Lord's sight.
ആസാ തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു പ്രസാദവും ഹിതവും ആയുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.
3 He took down the foreign altars and high places, smashed their sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles.
അവൻ അന്യദേവന്മാരുടെ ബലിപീഠങ്ങളും പൂജാഗിരികളും നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു, സ്തംഭവിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ ഉടെച്ചു അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെ വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു,
4 He ordered Judah to worship the Lord, the God of their forefathers, and to observe the law and the commandments.
യെഹൂദയോടു അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാനും ന്യായപ്രമാണവും കല്പനയും ആചരിച്ചു നടപ്പാനും കല്പിച്ചു.
5 He also took down the high places and the incense altars from all the towns of Judah. Under his rule the kingdom was at peace.
അവൻ എല്ലായെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും പൂജാഗിരികളും സൂൎയ്യവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളും നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; രാജ്യം അവന്റെ കീഴിയിൽ സ്വസ്ഥമായിരുന്നു.
6 Because the country was at peace he was able to rebuild the fortified towns of Judah. There were no wars during these years because the Lord had granted him peace.
യഹോവ അവന്നു വിശ്രമം നല്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു ദേശത്തിന്നു സ്വസ്ഥത ഉണ്ടാകയാലും ആ സംവത്സരങ്ങളിൽ അവന്നു യുദ്ധം ഇല്ലായ്കയാലും അവൻ യെഹൂദയിൽ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളെ പണിതു.
7 Asa told the people of Judah, “Let us build up these towns and surround them with walls and towers and barred gates. The land is still ours, because we continue to worship the Lord our God. We worship him, and he has given us peace from all our enemies.” So they began the building projects, and completed them successfully.
അവൻ യെഹൂദ്യരോടു: നാം ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങളെ പണിതു അവെക്കു ചുറ്റും മതിലുകളും ഗോപുരങ്ങളും വാതിലുകളും ഓടാമ്പലുകളും ഉണ്ടാക്കുക; നാം നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ദേശം നമുക്കു സ്വാധീനമായിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; നാം അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കയും അവൻ ചുറ്റും നമുക്കു വിശ്രമം നല്കയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ വെടിപ്പായി പണിതുതീൎത്തു.
8 Asa had an army made up of three hundred thousand men from Judah who carried large shields and spears, and two hundred eighty thousand men from Benjamin who carried regular shields and bows. All of them were brave warriors.
ആസെക്കു വൻപരിചയും കുന്തവും എടുത്തവരായി മൂന്നുലക്ഷം യെഹൂദ്യരും ചെറുപരിച എടുപ്പാനും വില്ലു കുലെപ്പാനും പ്രാപ്തരായി രണ്ടുലക്ഷത്തെണ്പതിനായിരം ബെന്യാമീന്യരും ഉള്ളോരു സൈന്യം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവരെല്ലാവരും പരാക്രമശാലികൾ ആയിരുന്നു.
9 Zerah the Ethiopian attacked them with an army of a thousand times a thousand men and three hundred chariots, advancing as far as Mareshah.
അനന്തരം കൂശ്യനായ സേരഹ് പത്തുലക്ഷം ആളും മുന്നൂറു രഥവും ഉള്ള സൈന്യത്തോടുകൂടെ അവരുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു മാരേശാവരെ വന്നു.
10 Asa went out to confront him, lining up for battle in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
ആസാ അവന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവർ മാരേശെക്കു സമീപം സെഫാഥാതാഴ്വരയിൽ പടെക്കു അണിനിരത്തി.
11 Asa called out for help to the Lord his God: “Lord, there is no one apart from you who can help the powerless against the powerful. Please help us, Lord our God, for we trust in you. We have come against this horde because we stand for you, Lord. You are our God. Do not let a mere human being beat you.”
ആസാ തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിച്ചു: യഹോവേ, ബലവാന്നും ബലഹീനന്നും തമ്മിൽ കാൎയ്യം ഉണ്ടായാൽ സഹായിപ്പാൻ നീയല്ലാതെ മറ്റാരുമില്ല; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, ഞങ്ങളെ, സഹായിക്കേണമേ; നിന്നിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ഈ പുരുഷാരത്തിന്നു നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവേ, നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം; മൎത്യൻ നിന്റെ നേരെ പ്രബലനാകരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
12 The Lord struck the Ethiopians in front of Asa and Judah, and the Ethiopians ran away.
അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ ആസയുടെയും യെഹൂദ്യരുടെയും മുമ്പിൽ കൂശ്യരെ തോല്ക്കുമാറാക്കി; കൂശ്യർ ഓടിപ്പോയി.
13 Asa and his army chased them as far as Gerar. The Ethiopians were killed—there were none who survived, for they were caught between the Lord and his army. The men of Judah carried off a large amount of plunder.
ആസയും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പടജ്ജനവും അവരെ ഗെരാർവരെ പിന്തുടൎന്നു; കൂശ്യർ ആരും ജീവനോടെ ശേഷിക്കാതെ പട്ടുപോയി; അവർ യഹോവയുടെയും അവന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെയും മുമ്പാകെ നശിച്ചുപോയി; അവർ വളരെ കവൎച്ചയും എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോന്നു.
14 They also attacked all the towns around Gerar, because the inhabitants were terrified of the Lord. The men of Judah took a large amount of plunder from all the towns.
അവർ ഗെരാറിന്നു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം നശിപ്പിച്ചു; യഹോവയിങ്കൽ നിന്നു ഒരു ഭീതി അവയുടെമേൽ വീണിരുന്നു; അവർ എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളെയും കൊള്ളയിട്ടു; അവയിൽ കൊള്ള വളരെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
15 Then they attacked the camps of the herdsmen and took many sheep and camels. Then they went back to Jerusalem.
അവർ നാല്ക്കാലികളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളെയും ആക്രമിച്ചു, അനവധി ആടുകളെയും ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെയും അപഹരിച്ചു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.
