< 1 Thessalonians 5 >
1 Brothers and sisters, we don't need to write anything to you about prophetic times and dates.
Ɣe ka ɣie nu siawo katã ava eme? Nɔvi lɔlɔ̃awo, mehiã be magblɔ nya aɖeke tso ema ya ŋuti o,
2 You yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
elabena mienya nyuie be ame aɖeke menya ɣeyiɣi la o. Aƒetɔ la ƒe azãgbe la aɖi ɖe mí abe ale si fiafitɔ vana le zã me ene.
3 When people talk about peace and security suddenly they will be completely ruined. It will be just like the sudden onset of childbirth, and they certainly won't escape.
Esime amewo le gbɔgblɔm be, “Ŋutifafa kple dedinɔnɔ” li la, gbegblẽ ava ƒo ɖe wo dzi kpoyi abe ale si fu ɖua funɔe, eye mate ŋu asi le enu o ene.
4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the dark about this so that you won't be caught by surprise when the Day of Judgment arrives suddenly like a thief.
Ke nɔvi lɔlɔ̃awo, miawo la, nu siawo mele ɣaɣla ɖe mi o, eye womava ɖi ɖe mi abe fiafitɔ ene, le Aƒetɔ la ƒe azãgbe la o.
5 For you are all children of light and children of the day. We don't belong to the night or to darkness.
Elabena mi katã la, kekeli kple ŋkeke la ƒe viwoe mienye, eye mienye viviti kple zã tɔwo o,
6 So then we shouldn't be sleeping like everybody else—we should stay awake and keep ourselves clear-headed.
eya ta minɔ ŋudzɔ ɖaa, eye migadɔ alɔ̃ abe ame bubuwo ene o. Minɔ ŋudzɔ na eƒe vava, eye mianɔ mo xexi.
7 For it's during the night that people sleep; and it's at night that they get drunk.
Zã mee amewo dɔa alɔ̃, eye ɣe ma ɣi me kee amewo mua aha.
8 But since we belong to the day we should keep our heads clear, strapping on the breastplate of trust and love, and putting on as a helmet the hope of salvation.
Ke mina mí ame siwo nye kekeliviwo la, míanɔ mo xexi, eye míatsɔ xɔse kple lɔlɔ̃ ƒe akɔtakpoxɔnu ado, eye míaɖɔ ɖeɖekpɔkpɔ si míele mɔ kpɔm na la abe gakuku ene.
9 For God hasn't placed us in a position to be punished, but has reserved us for salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mawu meɖo be yeahe eƒe dɔmedzoe ƒe to na mi o, ke boŋ be yeaɖe mí to míaƒe Aƒetɔ Yesu Kristo dzi.
10 He's the one who died for us so that whether we're alive or dead we shall live together with him.
Kristo ku ɖe mía ta, ale be míele agbe alo míeku o, ne etrɔ va la, míate ŋu anɔ agbe kplii tegbetegbe.
11 So encourage and strengthen one another, just as you are doing.
Eya ta mide dzi ƒo na mia nɔewo be miatu mia nɔewo ɖo abe ale si miele wɔwɔm xoxo la ene.
12 Brothers and sisters, we're asking you to respect those who work with you, who lead you in the Lord and teach you.
Nɔvi lɔlɔ̃awo, azɔ la, míele biabiam tso mia si be miade bubu ame siwo wɔa dɔ kple vevidodo le mia dome la ŋu, ame siwo wotsɔ ɖo mia nu le Aƒetɔ la me, eye woxlɔ̃a nu mi.
13 You should value them highly in love for the work they do. Live in peace with each other.
Mido kɔkɔ ame siawo le lɔlɔ̃ me le woƒe dɔwɔwɔ ta. Minɔ anyi le ŋutifafa me kple mia nɔewo.
14 We urge you, brothers and sisters, to warn those who are lazy, encourage those who are anxious, help those who are weak, and be patient with everyone.
Míele nu xlɔ̃m mi, nɔvi lɔlɔ̃awo be miaxlɔ̃ nu ame siwo le kuvia wɔm, mide dzi ƒo na ame siwo le vɔvɔ̃m, mikpe ɖe ame siwo gbɔdzɔ la ŋu, migbɔ dzi ɖi na ame sia ame.
15 Make sure none of you pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to one another, and to everyone.
Mikpɔ egbɔ be ame aɖeke metsɔ vɔ̃ ɖo vɔ̃ teƒe o, ke boŋ midze agbagba be ɣe sia ɣi la, mianyo dɔ me na mia nɔewo kple ame bubu ɖe sia ɖe.
16 Always be full of joy,
Dzi nedzɔ mi ɣe sia ɣi.
Minɔ gbedodoɖa dzi madzudzɔmadzudzɔe.
18 be thankful in every situation—because this is what God in Christ Jesus wants you to do.
Mida akpe le nuwo katã me, elabena esiae nye Mawu ƒe lɔlɔ̃nu na mi le Kristo Yesu me.
19 Don't hold the Spirit back,
Migatsi Gbɔgbɔ Kɔkɔe la nu o.
20 don't look down on prophecy,
Migado vlo nyagblɔɖiwo o.
21 make sure to check everything. Hold onto whatever is good;
Mido nu sia nu kpɔ, eye milé ɖe nu si nyo la ŋu.
22 keep away from every kind of evil.
Mitsri vɔ̃ ɖe sia ɖe tɔgbi.
23 May the God of peace himself make you completely holy, and may your whole being—body, mind and spirit—be kept blameless for when our Lord Jesus Christ returns.
24 The one who calls you is trustworthy, and he will do this.
Nuteƒewɔlae nye ame si yɔ mi, eya ta awɔe ade goe.
25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us.
Nɔvi lɔlɔ̃awo, mido gbe ɖa ɖe míawo hã ta.
26 Greet all the believers there affectionately.
Mido gbe na nɔviwo katã le Kristo me.
27 I'm requiring you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the believers.

28 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
