< 1 Samuel 5 >
1 After the Philistines captured the Ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
Filistifo no faa Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no akyi, wɔmaa so fii Ebeneser akono hɔ kɔɔ kuropɔn Asdod mu.
2 They brought the Ark of God into the Temple of Dagon and placed it next to Dagon.
Wɔsoaa Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no kɔɔ Dagon abosonnan mu. Wɔde kosii ohoni Dagon nkyɛn.
3 When the people of Ashdod got up early the next day, they saw Dagon had fallen on his face in front of the Ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and set him back up.
Nanso ade kyee a Asdod kurowmma no kɔhwɛe no, na Dagon ahwe fam wɔ Awurade Apam Adaka no anim a nʼanim butuw fam. Enti wɔmaa ohoni no so gyinaa hɔ bio.
4 When they got up early the next morning, they saw Dagon had fallen on his face in front of the Ark of the Lord, with his head and hands broken off lying on the doorstep. Only his body remained intact.
Nanso ade kyee anɔpa no, na asɛm koro no ara asi bio. Na Dagon no ahwe fam wɔ Awurade Apam Adaka no anim a nʼanim butuw fam. Saa bere yi de, na ne ti ne ne nsa abubu afi so deda ɔpon ano. Ne sin no na na aka da hɔ a ammubu.
5 (That's why the priests of Dagon, and all who enter the temple of Dagon in Ashdod, don't tread on the doorstep, even up to now.)
Ɛno nti na ebesi nnɛ yi, Dagon asɔfo anaa obiara a obewura abosonnan mu hɔ no ntia aponnua no so no.
6 The Lord punished the people of Ashdod and its surrounding area, devastating them and plaguing them with swellings.
Na Awurade maa pɔmpɔ bobɔɔ Asdodfo ne ne mpɔtam hɔfo no.
7 When the people of Ashdod saw what was going on, they said, “We can't let the Ark of the God of Israel remain here with us, because he is punishing us and Dagon our god.”
Bere a Asdodfo huu asɛm a aba no, wɔkae se, “Yɛrentumi mma Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no ntena yɛn nkyɛn. Otia yɛn! Ɔbɛsɛe yɛn ne yɛn nyame, Dagon nyinaa.”
8 So they sent for all the Philistine rulers and asked them, “What should we do with the Ark of the God of Israel?” “Take the Ark of the God of Israel to Gath,” they replied. So they moved it to Gath.
Enti wɔfrɛɛ Filistifo nkuropɔn anum mu asodifo nyinaa bisaa wɔn se, “Dɛn na yɛnyɛ Israel Nyankopɔn Apam Adaka yi?” Asodifo no susuw asɛm no ho na wobuae se, “Momfa Israel Nyankopɔn Apam Adaka no nkɔ Gat.” Enti wɔde Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no kɔɔ Gat.
9 But once they'd moved the Ark to Gath, the Lord also took action against that town, throwing it into great confusion and attacking the people of the town, young and old, with a plague of swellings.
Nanso Bere a Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no duu Gat no, Awurade maa pɔmpɔ bobɔɔ kurow no mufo, mpanyin ne mmofra, na wosuroo yiye.
10 So they sent the Ark of God to Ekron, but as soon as it arrived, the leaders of Ekron shouted, “They've moved the Ark of the God of Israel here to kill us and our people!”
11 So they sent for all the Philistine rulers and said, “Send the Ark of the God of Israel away, back to where it came from, otherwise it's going to kill us and our people.” People were dying throughout the town, creating terrible panic, for God's punishment was very hard.
Enti nnipa no frɛɛ Filistifo asodifo no nyinaa, srɛɛ wɔn se, “Monsan mfa Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no mfi ha nkɔ ne man mu, anyɛ saa a, ebekunkum yɛn nyinaa.” Saa bere no na ɔyaredɔm a efi Onyankopɔn nkyɛn no afi ase dedaw ama huboa abɛtɔ kuropɔn no so.
12 Those who didn't die were plagued with swellings, and the cry for help from the town reached up to heaven.
