1 Samuel 25
1 Samuel died. Everyone in Israel gathered to mourn for him, and they buried him at his home in Ramah. David left and went to the Desert of Paran.
ശമൂവേൽ മരിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേൽ ഒക്കെയും ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിലപിച്ചു, രാമയിൽ അവന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നരികെ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു. ദാവീദ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു പാരാൻമരുഭൂമിയിൽ പോയി പാർത്തു.
2 A man from Maon was very wealthy. He had property in Carmel and owned one thousand goats and three thousand sheep. He was in Carmel shearing them.
കർമ്മേലിൽ വ്യാപാരമുള്ള ഒരു മാവോന്യൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ മഹാ ധനികനായിരുന്നു; അവന്നു മൂവായിരം ചെമ്മരിയാടും ആയിരം കോലാടും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്നു കർമ്മേലിൽ ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന അടിയന്തരം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
3 The man's name was Nabal, and his wife's name was Abigail. She was a wise and beautiful woman, but her husband was cruel and treated people badly. He was a descendant of Caleb.
അവന്നു നാബാൽ എന്നും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യക്കു അബീഗയിൽ എന്നും പേർ. അവൾ നല്ല വിവേകമുള്ളവളും സുന്ദരിയും അവനോ നിഷ്ഠൂരനും ദുഷ്കർമ്മിയും ആയിരുന്നു. അവൻ കാലേബ് വംശക്കാരൻ ആയിരുന്നു.
4 David was in the wilderness, and he heard that Nabal was shearing sheep.
നാബാലിന്നു ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന അടിയന്തരം ഉണ്ടെന്നു ദാവീദ് മരുഭൂമിയിൽ കേട്ടു.
5 So David sent ten of his young men and told them, “Go and see Nabal at Carmel. Greet him in my name, and say hello from me.
ദാവീദ് പത്തു ബാല്യക്കാരെ അയച്ചു, അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നിങ്ങൾ കർമ്മേലിൽ നാബാലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു എന്റെ പേരിൽ അവന്നു വന്ദനം ചൊല്ലി:
6 Tell him, ‘I wish you a long life! Peace to you and your family, and may everything you do prosper.
നന്നായിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിനക്കും നിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്നും നന്നായിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിനക്കുള്ള സകലത്തിന്നും നന്നായിരിക്കട്ടെ.
7 Now I've heard that you are busy shearing. When your shepherds were with us, we didn't mistreat them, and nothing belonging to them was stolen all the time they were in Carmel.
നിനക്കു ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന അടിയന്തരം ഉണ്ടെന്നു ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. നിന്റെ ഇടയന്മാർ ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ അവരെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചില്ല; അവർ കർമ്മേലിൽ ഇരുന്ന കാലത്തൊക്കെയും അവർക്കു ഒന്നും കാണാതെ പോയതുമില്ല.
8 Check with your men and they'll confirm it. Please be kind to my men, especially since we've come on this day of celebration. Please give whatever food you can to us and to your good friend David.’”
നിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരോടു ചോദിച്ചാൽ അവരും നിന്നോടു പറയും; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഈ ബാല്യക്കാരോടു ദയ തോന്നേണം; നല്ല നാളിലല്ലോ ഞങ്ങൾ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു; നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ വരുന്നതു അടിയങ്ങൾക്കും നിന്റെ മകനായ ദാവീദിന്നും തരേണമേ എന്നു അവനോടു പറവിൻ.
9 David's young men arrived, gave Nabal this message from David, and waited for his reply.
ദാവീദിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാർ ചെന്നു നാബാലിനോടു ഈ വാക്കുകളെല്ലാം ദാവീദിന്റെ പേരിൽ അറിയിച്ചു കാത്തുനിന്നു.
10 “Who does this ‘David, son of Jesse’ think he is?” Nabal replied. “Nowadays there are many servants on the run from their masters!
നാബാൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: ദാവീദ് ആർ? യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകൻ ആർ? യജമാനന്മാരെ വിട്ടു പൊയ്ക്കളയുന്ന ദാസന്മാർ ഇക്കാലത്തു വളരെ ഉണ്ടു.
11 Why should I take the bread and water I've supplied, and the meat I've slaughtered for my shearers, and hand it over to these strangers? I don't even know where they're from!”
ഞാൻ എന്റെ അപ്പവും വെള്ളവും എന്റെ ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്നവർക്കായി ഒരുക്കിയ മാംസവും എടുത്തു എവിടുത്തുകാർ എന്നു അറിയാത്തവർക്കു കൊടുക്കുമോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
12 So David's men turned around and went back the way they came. When they got back they told David everything Nabal had said.
ദാവീദിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാർ മടങ്ങിവന്നു വിവരമൊക്കെയും അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചു.
13 “Everyone, put on your swords!” David ordered. They all put on their swords, and David did too. About four hundred followed David, while two hundred remained behind to guard their gear.
അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ ആളുകളോടു: എല്ലാവരും വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടിക്കൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ എല്ലാവരും വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടി; ദാവീദും വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടി; ഏകദേശം നാനൂറുപേർ ദാവീദിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി; ഇരുനൂറുപേർ സാമാനങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ പാർത്തു.
14 In the meantime one of Nabal's men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, “David sent some messengers from the wilderness to bring greetings to our master, but he only insulted them.
എന്നാൽ ബാല്യക്കാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ നാബാലിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ അബീഗയിലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: ദാവീദ് നമ്മുടെ യജമാനന്നു വന്ദനം ചൊല്ലുവാൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നു ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു; അവനോ അവരെ ശകാരിച്ചു അയച്ചു.
15 David's men were always very good to us and they never mistreated us. All the time we were out in the fields with them nothing was stolen from us.
എന്നാൽ ആ പുരുഷന്മാർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഏറ്റവും ഉപകാരമുള്ളവരായിരുന്നു; ഞങ്ങൾ വയലിൽ അവരുമായി സഹവാസം ചെയ്തിരുന്ന കാലത്തൊരിക്കലും അവർ ഞങ്ങളെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചില്ല; ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഒന്നും കാണാതെ പോയതുമില്ല.
16 They were like a protective wall to us, both day and night, during the whole time we were with them looking after the sheep.
ഞങ്ങൾ ആടുകളെ മേയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു അവരോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോഴൊക്കെയും രാവും പകലും അവർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു മതിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.
17 You should know what happened and consider what you should do about it. Disaster is about to strike our master and his whole family, but he's so obnoxious no one can talk sense into him!”
ആകയാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നു ആലോചിച്ചുനോക്കേണം; നമ്മുടെ യജമാനന്നും അവന്റെ സകലഭവനത്തിന്നും ദോഷം നിർണ്ണയിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവനോ ദുസ്സ്വഭാവിയാകകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു ആർക്കും ഒന്നും മിണ്ടിക്കൂടാ.
18 Abigail quickly gathered together two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five sheep already slaughtered, five seahs of roasted grain, a hundred raisin cakes, and two hundred fig cakes, and then loaded everything on donkeys.
ഉടനെ അബീഗയിൽ ഇരുനൂറു അപ്പവും രണ്ടു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും പാകം ചെയ്ത അഞ്ചു ആടും അഞ്ചു പറ മലരും നൂറു ഉണക്കമുന്തിരിക്കുലയും ഇരുനൂറു അത്തിയടയും എടുത്തു കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി ബാല്യക്കാരോടു;
19 She told her men, “Go on ahead. I'll follow you.” But she didn't say anything to her husband Nabal.
നിങ്ങൾ എനിക്കു മുമ്പായി പോകുവിൻ; ഞാൻ ഇതാ, പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. തന്റെ ഭർത്താവായ നാബാലിനോടു അവൾ ഒന്നും അറിയിച്ചില്ലതാനും.
20 As Abigail was riding her donkey through a mountain valley, she saw David and his men descending towards her, and she met them.
അവൾ കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറി മലയുടെ മറവിൽകൂടി ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ ഇതാ, ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും അവളുടെ നേരെ വരുന്നു; അവൾ അവരെ എതിരേറ്റു.
21 David had just been complaining, “So much for my protecting everything that belonged to this man in the wilderness! Nothing at all was stolen from him, and yet what does he do? Pay me back evil for good!
എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ്: മരുഭൂമിയിൽ അവന്നു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതൊക്കെയും ഞാൻ വെറുതെയല്ലോ കാത്തതു; അവന്റെ വക ഒന്നും കാണാതെ പോയതുമില്ല; അവനോ നന്മെക്കു പകരം എനിക്കു തിന്മ ചെയ്തു.
22 May God punish me very severely if I leave even a single one of his men alive by morning!”
അവന്നുള്ള സകലത്തിലും പുരുഷപ്രജയായ ഒന്നിനെയെങ്കിലും പുലരുംവരെ ഞാൻ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചേച്ചാൽ ദൈവം ദാവീദിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കൾക്കു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
23 When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off the donkey, and bowed before him, her face to the ground.
അബീഗയിൽ ദാവീദിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ കഴുതപ്പുറത്തുനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി ദാവീദിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
24 Falling at his feet in respect, she said, “Sir, I accept full responsibility for what's happened. Please listen to what I, your servant, have to say.
അവൾ അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കൽ വീണു പറഞ്ഞതു: യജമാനനേ, കുറ്റം എന്റെമേൽ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; അടിയൻ ഒന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടെ; അടിയന്റെ വാക്കുകളെ കേൾക്കേണമേ.
25 Please don't concern yourself with this worthless man Nabal. His name means ‘fool,’ and he is really foolish! As for me, your servant, I didn't even see the men you sent.
ദുസ്സ്വഭാവിയായ ഈ നാബാലിനെ യജമാനൻ ഗണ്യമാക്കരുതേ; അവൻ തന്റെ പേർ പോലെ തന്നെ ആകുന്നു; നാബാൽ എന്നല്ലോ അവന്റെ പേർ; ഭോഷത്വം അത്രേ അവന്റെ പക്കൽ ഉള്ളതു. അടിയനോ, യജമാനൻ അയച്ച ബാല്യക്കാരെ കണ്ടിരുന്നില്ല.
26 Now, sir, as the Lord lives and as you live, the Lord has kept you from shedding blood and from taking your own revenge. Sir, may your enemies and those who want to do you harm be like Nabal.
ആകയാൽ യജമാനനേ, യഹോവയാണ, നിന്നാണ, രക്തപാതകവും സ്വന്തകയ്യാൽ പ്രതികാരവും ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം യഹോവ നിന്നെ തടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളും യജമാനന്നു ദോഷം വിചാരിക്കുന്നവരും നാബാലിനെപ്പോലെ ആകട്ടെ.
27 Please accept this present that I, your servant, have brought to you, sir, and give it to your men.
ഇപ്പോൾ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അടിയൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ കാഴ്ച യജമാനന്റെ പരിചാരകരായ ബാല്യക്കാർക്കു ഇരിക്കട്ടെ.
28 Please forgive any offense that I, your servant, have committed, for the Lord is sure to set up a dynasty for you that will last for a long time, because you, sir, fight the battles of the Lord. Wickedness should not be found in you as long as you live.
അടിയന്റെ കുറ്റം ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ, യഹോവ യജമാനന്നു സ്ഥിരമായോരു ഭവനം പണിയും; യഹോവയുടെ യുദ്ധങ്ങളെയല്ലോ യജമാനൻ നടത്തുന്നതു. ആയുഷ്കാലത്തൊരിക്കലും നിന്നിൽ ദോഷം കാണുകയില്ല.
29 If anyone pursues you and tries to kill you, then your life will remain bound up with those the Lord your God looks after, safe in his care. But he will throw away the lives of your enemies like stones from a sling.
മനുഷ്യൻ നിന്നെ പിന്തുടർന്നു നിനക്കു ജീവഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റാലും യജമാനന്റെ പ്രാണൻ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ പക്കൽ ജീവഭാണ്ഡത്തിൽ കെട്ടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കും; നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ പ്രാണങ്ങളെയോ അവൻ കവിണയുടെ തടത്തിൽനിന്നു എന്നപോലെ എറിഞ്ഞുകളയും.
30 So when the Lord has done for you, sir, everything good he promised, and has made you ruler over Israel,
എന്നാൽ യഹോവ യജമാനന്നു വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ നന്മയും നിവൃത്തിച്ചുതന്നു നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു പ്രഭുവാക്കി വെക്കുമ്പോൾ
31 you won't have feelings of remorse or a guilty conscience over unnecessary bloodshed or of taking your own revenge. And when the Lord has done these good things for you, sir, please remember me, your maidservant.”
അകാരണമായി രക്തം ചിന്നുകയും യജമാനൻ താൻ തന്നേ പ്രതികാരം നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തുപോയി എന്നുള്ള ചഞ്ചലവും മനോവ്യഥയും യജമാനന്നു ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; എന്നാൽ യഹോവ യജമാനന്നു നന്മ ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ അടിയനെയും ഓർത്തുകൊള്ളേണമേ.
32 Then David said to Abigail, “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who sent you to meet me today!
ദാവീദ് അബീഗയിലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്നെ എതിരേല്പാൻ നിന്നെ ഇന്നു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു സ്തോത്രം.
33 May you be rewarded for your wise decisions, for preventing me from shedding blood today and taking my own revenge.
നിന്റെ വിവേകം സ്തുത്യം; രക്തപാതകവും സ്വന്തകയ്യാൽ പ്രതികാരവും ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം എന്നെ ഇന്നു തടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന നീയും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൾ.
34 On the contrary, as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, who has kept me from harming you, if you hadn't rushed to meet me, then definitely not a single one of Nabal's men would have been left alive by dawn.”
നിന്നോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം എന്നെ തടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയാണ, നീ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു എന്നെ എതിരേറ്റു വന്നിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ നേരം പുലരുമ്പോഴേക്കു പുരുഷപ്രജയൊന്നും നാബാലിന്നു ശേഷിക്കയില്ലായിരുന്നു.
35 David accepted from Abigail what she had brought him, and told her, “You may go home in peace, because I agree with your advice and grant your request.”
പിന്നെ അവൾ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു ദാവീദ് അവളുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വാങ്ങി അവളോടു: സമാധാനത്തോടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോക; ഇതാ, ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു നിന്റെ മുഖം ആദരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
36 When Abigail got back home to Nabal, he was in the house, partying like a king. He was feeling very merry, and he was very drunk. So she didn't tell him anything until the morning.
അബീഗയിൽ നാബാലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ തന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ രാജവിരുന്നുപോലെ ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; നാബാലിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ആനന്ദത്തിലായി അവന്നു നന്നാ ലഹരി പിടിച്ചിരുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൾ നേരം വെളുക്കുംവരെ വിവരം ഒന്നും അവനെ അറിയിച്ചില്ല.
37 When Nabal had sobered up the next morning, his wife told him what had happened. When he heard what she had to say he had a heart attack and was paralyzed.
എന്നാൽ രാവിലെ നാബാലിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു ഇറങ്ങിയശേഷം അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ അവനോടു വിവരം അറിയിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ നിർജ്ജീവമായി അവൻ കല്ലിച്ചുപോയി.
38 About ten days later the Lord struck Nabal down and he died.
പത്തുദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം യഹോവ നാബാലിനെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു, അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയി.
39 When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Praise the Lord who has supported me against Nabal's insult and has kept me from doing evil. For the Lord made Nabal's wickedness fall back on himself.” Then David sent a message to Abigail, asking for her to marry him.
നാബാൽ മരിച്ചു എന്നു ദാവീദ് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ: എന്നെ നിന്ദിച്ച നിന്ദെക്കായിട്ടു നാബാലിനോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കയും തന്റെ ദാസനെ തിന്മ ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം തടുക്കയും ചെയ്ത യഹോവെക്കു സ്തോത്രം. നാബാലിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത യഹോവ അവന്റെ തലയിൽ തന്നേ വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബീഗയിലിനെ തനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായി പരിഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവളോടു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ ആളയച്ചു.
40 When David's men arrived at Carmel, they said to Abigail, “David has sent us to you to bring you back to become his wife.”
ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ കർമ്മേലിൽ അബീഗയിലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവളോടു: നീ ദാവീദിന്നു ഭാര്യയായ്തീരുവാൻ നിന്നെ കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ അവൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
41 She stood up, then bowed down low, and said, “I am David's maidservant. I am prepared to serve and to wash the feet of my master's servants.”
അവൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിലംവരെ തല കുനിച്ചു: ഇതാ, അടിയൻ യജമാനന്റെ ദാസന്മാരുടെ കാലുകളെ കഴുകുന്ന ദാസി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
42 Abigail quickly got on a donkey and, with her five female servants, went back with David's men and became his wife.
ഉടനെ അബീഗയിൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്റെ പരിചാരകികളായ അഞ്ചു ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളുമായി കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറി ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ചെന്നു അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി തീർന്നു.
43 David had also married Ahinoam of Jezreel. So they both were his wives.
യിസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നു ദാവീദ് അഹീനോവമിനെയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവർ ഇരുവരും അവന്നു ഭാര്യമാരായ്തീർന്നു.
44 However, Saul had given his daughter Michal, David's wife, to Paltiel, son of Laish. He was from Gallim.
ശൗലോ തന്റെ മകളും ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുമായിരുന്ന മീഖളിനെ ഗല്ലീമ്യനായ ലയീശിന്റെ മകൻ ഫല്തിക്കു കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു.
