1 Kings 5
1 When Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been anointed king to succeed his father, he sent ambassadors to Solomon because Hiram had always been David's friend.
Und [2. Chron. 2] Hiram, der König von Tyrus, sandte seine Knechte zu Salomo, denn er hatte gehört, daß man ihn zum König gesalbt hatte an seines Vaters Statt; denn Hiram war allezeit ein Freund Davids gewesen.
2 So Solomon sent this message back to Hiram,
Und Salomo sandte zu Hiram und ließ ihm sagen:
3 “As you know, my father David was not able to build a Temple to honor the Lord his God because of the wars fought against him from every direction, until the Lord had conquered his enemies.
Du weißt ja, daß mein Vater David nicht vermochte, dem Namen Jehovas, seines Gottes, ein Haus zu bauen, wegen der Kriege, mit welchen sie ihn umgaben, bis Jehova sie unter seine Fußsohlen legte.
4 But now the Lord my God has given me peace all around—no enemies, no bad things happening.
Nun aber hat Jehova, mein Gott, mir Ruhe geschafft ringsum; da ist kein Widersacher mehr und kein schlimmes Begegnis.
5 So I plan to build a Temple to honor the Lord my God, as the Lord told my father David. He said to him, ‘Your son whom I will place on your throne to succeed you will build the Temple to honor me.’
Und siehe, ich gedenke dem Namen Jehovas, meines Gottes, ein Haus zu bauen, so wie Jehova zu meinem Vater David geredet und gesagt hat: Dein Sohn, den ich an deiner Statt auf deinen Thron setzen werde, der soll meinem Namen ein Haus bauen.
6 So please order some cedars of Lebanon to be cut down for me. My workers will assist your workers, and I will pay your workers at the rate that you decide, for you know that we don't have anyone who knows how to cut timber like the Sidonians.”
Und nun gebiete, daß man mir Cedern vom Libanon haue; und meine Knechte sollen mit deinen Knechten sein; und den Lohn deiner Knechte will ich dir geben nach allem, was du sagen wirst; denn du weißt ja, daß niemand unter uns ist, der Holz zu hauen versteht wie die Zidonier.
7 When Hiram heard Solomon's message, he was very happy and said, “Praise the Lord today, for he has given David a wise son to lead this great nation!”
Und es geschah, als Hiram die Worte Salomos hörte, da freute er sich sehr; und er sprach: Gepriesen sei heute Jehova, der David einen weisen Sohn gegeben hat über dieses große Volk!
8 Hiram sent this reply to Solomon: “Thank you for your message. As for the cedar and cypress timber, I will do everything you want.
Und Hiram sandte zu Salomo und ließ ihm sagen: Ich habe gehört, was du mir entboten hast; ich will all dein Begehr tun betreffs des Cedernholzes und betreffs des Cypressenholzes.
9 My workers will bring the logs down from Lebanon to the sea, and I will have them floated in rafts by sea to wherever you decide. I will have the rafts broken apart there, and you can take the logs away. In return I would like you to provide food for my household.”
Meine Knechte sollen es vom Libanon an das Meer hinabbringen; und ich werde auf dem Meere Flöße daraus machen und sie bis an den Ort bringen lassen, den du mir angeben wirst, und dort will ich sie zerlegen lassen; und du sollst es abholen. Du aber sollst mein Begehr tun, indem du den Speisebedarf meines Hauses gibst.
10 So Hiram provided Solomon with as much cedar and cypress timber that he wanted,
Und so gab Hiram dem Salomo Cedernholz und Cypressenholz nach all seinem Begehr.
11 Solomon gave Hiram 20,000 cors of wheat for food and 20,000 cors of olive oil for his household. Solomon provided this to Hiram every year.
Salomo aber gab Hiram 20000 Kor Weizen zur Nahrung für sein Haus, und zwanzig Kor zerstoßenes Öl: so gab Salomo dem Hiram Jahr für Jahr.
12 The Lord gave Solomon wisdom just as he had promised him. Hiram and Solomon had a good relationship and they made a peace treaty with each other.
Und Jehova gab Salomo Weisheit, so wie er zu ihm geredet hatte; und es war Friede zwischen Hiram und Salomo, und sie machten einen Bund miteinander.
13 King Solomon drafted a labor force of 30,000 from all of Israel.
Und der König Salomo hob Fronarbeiter aus ganz Israel aus, und der Fronarbeiter waren 30000 Mann.
14 He sent them in shifts of 10,000 each month to Lebanon, so that they were one month in Lebanon and two months at home, Adoniram was in charge of the labor force.
Und er schickte sie auf den Libanon, 10000 im Monat, wechselweise: einen Monat waren sie auf dem Libanon, zwei Monate in ihrem Hause; und Adoniram war über die Fronarbeiter.
15 Solomon had 70,000 porters and 80,000 stonecutters in the hill country,
Und Salomo hatte 70000 Lastträger und 80000 Steinhauer im Gebirge,
16 as well as 3,300 foremen he placed in charge of the workers.
ohne die Oberaufseher Salomos, welche über die Arbeit waren, 3300, die über das Volk walteten, das an der Arbeit beschäftigt war.
17 Following the king's orders, they quarried large blocks of stone that were expensive to produce, and laid these dressed stones as the foundation for the Temple.
Und der König gebot, und sie brachen große Steine, wertvolle [And.: schwere; so auch Kap. 7,9. 10. 11] Steine, um den Grund des Hauses zu legen, behauene Steine.
18 So Solomon's and Hiram's builders, together with the Gebalites, cut the stone. They prepared the timber and stone to build the Temple.
Und die Bauleute Salomos und die Bauleute Hirams und die Gibliter [S. Jos. 13,5; die Gibliter gehörten zu den Phöniziern] behieben sie, und sie richteten das Holz und die Steine zum Bau des Hauses zu.
