< 1 Kings 21 >

1 Sometime later this happened: There was a man named Naboth from Jezreel, who owned a vineyard in Jezreel close to King Ahab's palace in Samaria.
Mgbe nwa oge nta gasịrị, Nebọt, onye Jezril, nwere ubi vaịnị dị na Jezril, nʼakụkụ ụlọeze Ehab bụ eze Sameria.
2 Ahab went to Naboth and said, “Give me your vineyard so I can turn it into a vegetable garden, because it's close to my palace. In return I'll give you a better vineyard, or if you want I'll pay you for it in cash.”
Ehab sịrị Nebọt, “Nye m ubi vaịnị gị ka ọ bụrụ ubi a gbara ogige, ebe m ga-akụ akwụkwọ nri, ebe ọ dị nso nʼụlọeze m. Aga m enye gị ubi vaịnị ọzọ dị mma karịa ya, ma ọ bụrụkwa na ị chọrọ, aga m akwụ gị ego ọbụla o ruru nʼọnụ ahịa ya.”
3 But Naboth replied, “The Lord curse me if I should give you my forefathers' inheritance.”
Ma Nebọt zara sị Ehab, “Ala a bụ ihe nketa ruuru m site nʼaka nna nna m ha. M ga-esi aṅaa nye gị ya. Onyenwe anyị ekwela na m ga-ewere ihe nketa nke nna nna m ha nye gị.”
4 Ahab went home sulking and infuriated because Naboth from Jezreel had said, “I will not give you my forefathers' inheritance.” He went to bed, wouldn't look at anyone, and refused to eat.
Ehab jiri obi ụfụ na ihu mgbarụ laa nʼụlọ ya nʼihi okwu a Nebọt, onye Jezril gwara ya, sị, “Agaghị m enye gị ihe nketa nna nna m ha.” O dinara nʼihe ndina ya, chee ihu ya nʼaja ụlọ, jụ iri ihe ọbụla.
5 His wife Jezebel came in and asked him, “Why are you so upset about? That you don't want to eat?”
Ma nwunye ya bụ Jezebel, bịakwutere ya jụọ ya sị, “Gịnị mere i ji jụ iri ihe? Gịnị mere i ji nọgide nʼobi ọjọọ na iwe?”
6 Ahab replied, “It's because I talked with Naboth from Jezreel and I asked him, ‘Give me your vineyard for cash, or if you want, I'll give you another vineyard instead.’ But he said, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’”
Ehab zara sị ya, “Agwara m Nebọt, nwoke onye Jezril okwu sị ya, ‘Resi m ubi vaịnị gị, ma ọ bụrụ na ị chọrọ, aga m enye gị ala ubi ọzọ mara mma nʼọnọdụ ya.’ Ma ọ jụrụ jụwaa isi inye m ubi ahụ.”
7 “Aren't you the king of Israel?” his wife Jezebel replied. “Get up, have something to eat, and cheer up. I'll get you the vineyard of Naboth from Jezreel.”
Mgbe ahụ, nwunye ya Jezebel jụrụ ya ajụjụ sị ya, “Ọ bụghị gị bụ eze na-achị Izrel? Bilie, rie nri, enyela obi gị nsogbu, nʼihi na aga m enyefe gị ubi vaịnị Nebọt onye Jezril nʼaka.”
8 So she wrote some letters in Ahab's name and sealed them with his seal. She sent the letters to the elders and leaders in the town where Naboth lived.
Ya mere, Jezebel dere akwụkwọ nʼaha Ehab, were mgbaaka akara eze kaa nʼakwụkwọ ndị ahụ, zigara ha ndị okenye obodo na ndị a na-asọpụrụ bi nʼobodo ebe Nebọt bi.
9 In the letters she wrote to tell them, “Announce a religious fast, and give Naboth a seat of honor.
Nʼime akwụkwọ ozi ndị a, o dere sị, “Nyenụ iwu ka mmadụ niile buo ọnụ. Kpọkọtaanụ ndị Jezril niile, ka ha zukọta. Mgbe unu zukọrọ, nyenụ Nebọt ọnọdụ nʼoche dị mkpa.
10 But seat two bad men opposite him and have them accuse him, saying, ‘You have cursed God and the king!’ Then take him out and stone him to death.”
Họpụtanụ ndị ikom abụọ, ndị na-abaghị uru ka ha pụta nʼihu nzukọ unu guzo gbaa ama ụgha megide Nebọt sị na ha nụrụ mgbe ọ kọchara Chineke na eze. Maanụ ya ikpe ọnwụ, kpụpụ ya nʼazụ obodo, jiri nkume tugbuo ya, ka ọ nwụọ.”
11 So the elders and leaders who lived in Naboth's town did as Jezebel had said in the letters she had written and sent to them.
Ndị okenye na ndị a na-asọpụrụ ndị bi nʼobodo ahụ mere dịka Jezebel nyere nʼiwu nʼakwụkwọ ahụ o degaara ha.
12 They announced a religious fast, and gave Naboth a seat of honor.
Ha nyere iwu maka ibu ọnụ, kpọọkwa nzukọ ndị obodo ahụ niile, meekwa ka Nebọt nọdụ nʼoche dị mkpa.
13 Two bad men came and sat opposite him, and accused him in front of the people, saying, “Naboth has cursed God and the king.” So they took him outside the town and stoned him to death.
14 Then they sent a message to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth has been stoned. He's dead.”
Emesịa, ndị okenye na ndị a maara aha ha nke obodo Jezril, ziri ozi zigara Jezebel gwa ya na Nebọt anwụọla.
15 As soon as Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and he was dead, Jezebel told Ahab, “Get up, go and claim ownership of the vineyard of Naboth from Jezreel, which he refused to sell you, for Naboth is no longer alive, but dead.”
Ngwangwa Jezebel natara ozi na a tụgbola Nebọt, ọ sịrị Ehab, “Bilie, gaa nwetara onwe gị ubi vaịnị Nebọt, nwoke onye Jezril. Ubi ahụ ọ jụrụ inye gị nʼego abụrụla nke gị ugbu a nʼihi na Nebọt anwụọla. Ọ dịkwaghị ndụ ọzọ!”
16 When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, he got up and went to claim ownership of Naboth's vineyard.
Mgbe Ehab nụrụ na Nebọt anwụọla, o biliri pụọ, gaa ịbanye nʼubi ahụ, inwetara onwe ya ubi vaịnị Nebọt, onye Jezril.
17 Then the Lord sent a message to Elijah the Tishbite:
Ma okwu Onyenwe anyị rutere Ịlaịja, onye Tishbe, sị ya,
18 “Go and meet Ahab, king of Israel, in Samaria. He is right now in Naboth's vineyard, where he has gone to claim ownership of it.
“Bilie, gaa zute Ehab, eze Izrel onye bi na Sameria. Ọ nọ ugbu a nʼime ubi vaịnị Nebọt inwetara ya onwe ya.
19 Tell him: This is what the Lord says: Have you murdered a man and robbed him? Then tell him: This is what the Lord says: In the very spot where dogs licked up Naboth's blood, dogs will lick up your own blood.”
Gwa ya sị ya, ‘Ihe a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru: I gbuola ọchụ mmadụ si otu a nwetara onwe gị ihe nketa? Ebe ahụ nkịta nọ rachaa ọbara Nebọt ka ha ga-anọ rachaakwa ọbara gị. E, ọbara gị onwe gị.’”
20 “So have you come to find me, my enemy?” Ahab asked Elijah. “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do what is evil in the Lord sight,” Elijah replied.
Mgbe ahụ, Ehab jụrụ Ịlaịja ajụjụ sị ya, “Onye iro m, ị chọrọkwala m bịa?” Ịlaịja zara sị ya, “E, achọrọla m gị bịa nʼihi nnyefe i nyefere onwe gị ime ihe dị njọ nʼanya Onyenwe anyị.
21 He says, “Watch out! I'm going to bring disaster on you and destroy your descendants. I will kill from every male of Ahab's line, both slave and free, in the whole of Israel.
Ọ sịrị, ‘Aga m eme ka ihe ọjọọ dakwasị gị. Aga m ekpochapụ ndị agbụrụ gị, site nʼezinaụlọ Ehab bipụ nwoke ọbụla, maọbụ ohu maọbụ onyenwe onwe ya nʼIzrel.
22 I will make your house like that of Jeroboam, son of Nebat, and like that of Baasha, son of Ahijah, because you have angered me and made Israel sin.
Aga m eme ka ụlọ gị dịrị ka nke Jeroboam nwa Nebat, na dịka nke Baasha nwa Ahija, nʼihi na ị kpasuola m iwe, meekwa ka Izrel mehie.’
23 And as far as Jezebel is concerned, the Lord says, ‘Dogs will eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.’
“Ma banyere Jezebel, Onyenwe anyị sịrị, ‘Ụmụ nkịta ga-eri anụ ahụ Jezebel nʼakụkụ mgbidi aja ụlọ dị nʼobodo Jezril.’
24 Those of Ahab's family who die in the town will be eaten by dogs, and those who die in the countryside will be eaten by birds.”
“Nkịta ga-eri anụ onye ọbụla si nʼezinaụlọ Ehab nke nwụrụ nʼime obodo, ma anụ ufe nke eluigwe ga-eri anụ ndị ọbụla nwụrụ nʼọhịa.”
25 (No one else was so bad as Ahab, who sold himself to do what is evil in the Lord's sight, because his wife Jezebel encouraged him.
(Nʼezie, o nweghị onye ọbụla ọzọ dị ka Ehab, onye rere onwe ya nye ime ihe ọjọọ dị ukwuu nʼanya Onyenwe anyị, onye Jezebel nwunye ya kwagidere ime ihe ọjọọ dị iche iche.
26 He did the most despicable things, worshiping idols like the Amorites the Lord had driven out before Israel.)
Ehab bụ onye mere mmehie dị oke njọ nke ịgbaso na ife arụsị dị iche iche ofufe dịka ndị Amọrait mere, bụ ndị ahụ Onyenwe anyị sitere nʼala a chụpụ ime ka ndị Izrel nweta ala ha.)
27 As soon as Ahab heard this message, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and fasted. He even went to bed in sackcloth, and walked around repentantly.
Mgbe Ehab nụrụ okwu amụma ndị a, ọ dọwara uwe ya, yikwasị onwe ya akwa mkpe, buo ọnụ, dinaa nʼakwa mkpe ahụ, jegharịakwa nʼịdị umeala.
28 Then the Lord sent a message to Elijah the Tishbite:
Ma okwu Onyenwe anyị rutere Ịlaịja, onye Tishbe ọzọ, sị ya,
29 “Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the disaster during his lifetime, but I will bring down disaster on his family in the lifetime of his son.”
“Ị hụrụ otu Ehab si weda onwe ya ala nʼihu m? Nʼihi ihe a o mere, iweda onwe ya ala nʼihu m, agaghị m eme ka ihe ọjọọ ndị a m kwuru okwu banyere ha rute ya nʼoge ọ dị ndụ. Kama aga m eme ka ihe ndị a dakwasị ezinaụlọ ya mgbe nwa ya ga-achị dịka eze.”
