< 1 Kings 21 >

1 Sometime later this happened: There was a man named Naboth from Jezreel, who owned a vineyard in Jezreel close to King Ahab's palace in Samaria.
He hno he a om phoeiah, Jezreel kah Samaria manghai Ahab bawkim taengah Jezreel Naboth kah misurdum om.
2 Ahab went to Naboth and said, “Give me your vineyard so I can turn it into a vegetable garden, because it's close to my palace. In return I'll give you a better vineyard, or if you want I'll pay you for it in cash.”
Te dongah Ahab loh Naboth te, “Na misurdum te kai taengah m'pae lamtah, ka im neh a yoei ah kai ham toi-an dum la om saeh. Te yueng la nang taengah te lakah aka then misurdum khaw na mik ah aka then kam paek bitni. A phu la nang te tangka khaw kam paek bitni,” a ti nah.
3 But Naboth replied, “The Lord curse me if I should give you my forefathers' inheritance.”
Naboth loh Ahab te, “A pa rhoek kah rho nang taengla kam paek ham he, kamah lamkah neh BOEIPA lamlong khaw savisava,” a ti nah.
4 Ahab went home sulking and infuriated because Naboth from Jezreel had said, “I will not give you my forefathers' inheritance.” He went to bed, wouldn't look at anyone, and refused to eat.
Jezreel Naboth loh anih te a voek tih, “A pa rhoek kah rho he nang taengla kam pae mahpawh,” a ti nah ol dongah Ahab khaw a im te rhihnun cukduk neh thintoek la a pha. A baiphaih dongah a yalh neh a maelhmai a bueng tih buh khaw ca pawh.
5 His wife Jezebel came in and asked him, “Why are you so upset about? That you don't want to eat?”
A yuu Jezebel te a taengla a pawk pah vaengah tah anih te, “Na mueihla he metlam a rhihnun cukduk tih buh na caak pawh,” a ti nah.
6 Ahab replied, “It's because I talked with Naboth from Jezreel and I asked him, ‘Give me your vineyard for cash, or if you want, I'll give you another vineyard instead.’ But he said, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’”
Jezebel te, “Jezreel Naboth te ka voek tih amah taengah, 'Na misurdum te kai taengah tangka la han yoi mai. Na huem mak atah a yueng misurdum khaw nang te kam paek bitni,’ ka ti nah. Tedae, 'Ka misurdum te nang taengah kam pae mahpawh,’ a ti,” a ti nah.
7 “Aren't you the king of Israel?” his wife Jezebel replied. “Get up, have something to eat, and cheer up. I'll get you the vineyard of Naboth from Jezreel.”
8 So she wrote some letters in Ahab's name and sealed them with his seal. She sent the letters to the elders and leaders in the town where Naboth lived.
Te phoeiah Ahab ming neh cabu a daek tih a kutbuen neh a daeng thil. Cabu dongkah ca te a ham rhoek taengah neh a khopuei kah Naboth taengah kho aka sa hlangcoelh taengla a pat.
9 In the letters she wrote to tell them, “Announce a religious fast, and give Naboth a seat of honor.
Cabu khuikah a daek dongah, “Yaehnah te khue uh lamtah Naboth te pilnam kah a lu la ngol saeh.
10 But seat two bad men opposite him and have them accuse him, saying, ‘You have cursed God and the king!’ Then take him out and stone him to death.”

11 So the elders and leaders who lived in Naboth's town did as Jezebel had said in the letters she had written and sent to them.
A khopuei hlang a hamca rhoek neh a khopuei khuikah khosa hlangcoelh rhoek long khaw Jezebel loh amih ham cabu neh a daek tih amih taegla a pat dongkah a uen bangla a saii uh.

Yaehnah te a hoe uh tih Naboth te pilnam kah a lu la a ngol sakuh.
13 Two bad men came and sat opposite him, and accused him in front of the people, saying, “Naboth has cursed God and the king.” So they took him outside the town and stoned him to death.
Te vaengah hlang muen ca rhoi te ha pawk tih anih hmai ah ngol rhoi van. Hlang muen rhoi loh Naboth te pilnam hmai ah a laipai thil rhoi tih, “Naboth loh Pathen neh manghai yoethen a paek oe,” a ti rhoi. Te phoeiah tah khopuei vongvoel la a khuen uh tih lungto neh a dae uh dongah Naboth te duek.
14 Then they sent a message to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth has been stoned. He's dead.”
Te phoeiah Jezebel taengla a tueih uh tih, “Naboth a dae uh tih duek coeng,” a ti nah.
15 As soon as Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and he was dead, Jezebel told Ahab, “Get up, go and claim ownership of the vineyard of Naboth from Jezreel, which he refused to sell you, for Naboth is no longer alive, but dead.”
Naboth a dae uh tih a duek te Jezebel loh a yaak van neh Jezebel long khaw Ahab taengah, “Thoo, Jezreel Naboth kah misurdum te pang laeh. Nang taengah tangka la paek ham khaw a aal dongah Naboth hing pawt tih duek coeng,” a ti nah.

17 Then the Lord sent a message to Elijah the Tishbite:
Te vaengah BOEIPA ol te Tishbi Elijah taengla pawk tih,

“Thoo, Samaria kah Israel manghai Ahab doe la suntla laeh. Naboth kah misurdum pang hamla suntla lako ke.
19 Tell him: This is what the Lord says: Have you murdered a man and robbed him? Then tell him: This is what the Lord says: In the very spot where dogs licked up Naboth's blood, dogs will lick up your own blood.”
Anih te thui pah lamtah, 'BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Na ngawn tih na pang bal nama?' ti nah. Te phoeiah anih te thui pah lamtah, 'BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Naboth thii ui loh a laeh nah hmuen ah nang khaw na thii te ui loh a laeh van ni,'ti nah,” a ti nah.
20 “So have you come to find me, my enemy?” Ahab asked Elijah. “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do what is evil in the Lord sight,” Elijah replied.
Ahab loh Elijah te, “Kai he 'Ka thunkha ' la nan hmuh nama?” a ti nah. Te dongah, “BOEIPA mik ah boethae saii ham namah na yoih uh dongah kam hmuh mah ta.
21 He says, “Watch out! I'm going to bring disaster on you and destroy your descendants. I will kill from every male of Ahab's line, both slave and free, in the whole of Israel.

27 As soon as Ahab heard this message, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and fasted. He even went to bed in sackcloth, and walked around repentantly.
