< 1 Corinthians 11 >

1 You should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.
Landelani isibonelo sami, njengalokhu lami ngilandela isibonelo sikaKhristu.
2 I'm grateful that you always remember me and that you are keeping to the teachings just as I passed them on to you.
Ngiyalibonga ngokungikhumbula ezintweni zonke langokubambelela emfundisweni njengokuyethula kwami kini.
3 I do want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, the man is the head of the woman, and God is the head of Christ.
Kodwa ngifuna ukuba likwazi ukuthi inhloko yamadoda wonke nguKhristu, lenhloko yowesifazane yindoda, lenhloko kaKhristu nguNkulunkulu.
4 A man's head is dishonored if he prays or prophesies with his head covered.
Yonke indoda ekhuleka loba iphrofithe ikhanda layo limboziwe ihlayaza ikhanda layo.
5 A woman's head is dishonored if she prays or prophesies with her head uncovered—it's just as if she had her hair shaved off.
Lowesifazane wonke okhuleka loba aphrofithe ikhanda lakhe lingembozwanga uhlayaza ikhanda lakhe, kufana lokuthi ikhanda lakhe liphuciwe.
6 If a woman's head is not covered, then she should have her head shaved. If it's scandalous for a woman to be shorn or shaven, then she should have her head covered.
Nxa owesifazane engambozi ikhanda lakhe, angagela inwele zakhe; kodwa nxa kulihlazo ukuthi owesifazane agele loba aphuce inwele zakhe, kumele alimboze ikhanda lakhe.
7 A man shouldn't cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God, while the woman is the glory of the man.
Indoda akumelanga imboze ikhanda layo, ngoba ingumfanekiso lodumo lukaNkulunkulu kodwa owesifazane uludumo lwendoda.
8 Man didn't come from woman, but woman came from man;
Ngoba indoda kayivelanga kowesifazane kodwa owesifazane wavela endodeni
9 and man was not created for the woman, but the woman was created for the man.
njalo indoda kayidalelwanga owesifazane kodwa owesifazane wadalelwa indoda.
10 That's why the woman should have this sign of authority on her head out of respect for the watching angels.
Ngakho-ke, njalo ngenxa yezingilosi, owesifazane kumele abe lophawu lwamandla ekhanda lakhe.
11 Even so, from the Lord's perspective, the woman is as essential as the man, and the man as essential as the woman.
Kodwa eNkosini, owesifazane weyeme endodeni, lendoda yeyeme kowesifazane.
12 As the woman came from the man, so the man comes from the woman—but more importantly everything comes from God.
Ngoba njengoba owesifazane wavela endodeni, ngokunjalo indoda layo izalwa ngowesifazane. Kodwa izinto zonke zivela kuNkulunkulu.
13 Judge for yourselves: is it appropriate for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?
Zahluleleni ngokwenu: Kulungile yini ukuba owesifazane akhuleke kuNkulunkulu ikhanda lakhe lingembozwanga?
14 Doesn't nature itself indicate that a man with long hair disgraces himself?
Imvelo yezinto uqobo kayilifundisi yini ukuba nxa owesilisa elenwele ezinde, kulihlazo kuye,
15 However, a woman with long hair brings herself glory, because her hair is given to her as a covering.
kodwa owesifazane nxa elenwele ezinde, kuludumo lwakhe? Ngoba waphiwa inwele ezinde njengesimbozo.
16 But if anyone wants to argue about this, we don't have any other custom than this, and neither do any other of God's churches.
Nxa umuntu efuna ukuba lenkani ngalokho, kasilawo omunye umkhuba, lamabandla kaNkulunkulu kawalawo.
17 Now in giving you the instructions that follow I can't commend you, because when you meet together you cause more harm than good!
Kuziqondiso ezilandelayo angilincomi, ngoba imihlangano yenu yenza ububi obunengi kulobuhle.
18 First of all, I hear that when you have church meetings that you are split into different factions, and I believe there's some truth to this.
Okokuqala, ngizwa kuthiwa nxa libuthene njengebandla, kulokwahlukana phakathi kwenu, njalo ngiphosa ngikholwe.
19 Of course such splits among you must happen so those who are genuine can prove themselves by their evidence!
Akuthandabuzeki ukuthi kufanele kube lokungavumelani phakathi kwenu ukuba kubonakale ukuthi yibaphi abenu abamukelwe nguNkulunkulu.
20 When you meet together you're not really celebrating the Lord's Supper at all.
Lapho libuthene, akusiSidlo seNkosi elisidlayo,
21 Some want to eat first before everyone else, leaving others hungry. Still others get drunk.
ngoba ekudleni kwenu, lowo lalowo wenu uyaqhubeka engamelelanga omunye. Omunye usala elambile, omunye adakwe.
22 Don't you have your own houses to eat and drink in? Do you look down on God's church, and humiliate those who are poor? What should I tell you? That you're doing really well? I have nothing good to say about you for doing this!
Kanti kalilamakhaya yini okudlela lokunathela kuwo? Kumbe liyaleyisa yini ibandla likaNkulunkulu lidumaza lalabo abangelalutho na? Ngizakuthini kini na? Ngingalincoma ngenxa yalokhu na? Impela hatshi!
23 For I received from the Lord what I passed on to you: the Lord Jesus on the night he was betrayed took some bread.
Ngoba eNkosini ngamukela lokho lami engakudlulisela kini ukuthi: INkosi uJesu, ngalobobusuku eyanikelwa ngabo, yathatha isinkwa,
24 After giving thanks, he broke the bread into pieces and said, “This bread is my body, which is given for you. Remember me by doing this.”
kwathi isibongile, yasihlephuna yathi, “Lokhu kungumzimba wami, ongowenu; yenzani lokhu njengesikhumbuzo sami.”
25 In the same way he took the cup, after the meal, and said, “This cup is the new agreement sealed with my blood. Remember me when you drink it.
Ngokunjalo, emva kokudla yathatha inkezo, yathi, “Inkezo le iyisivumelwano esitsha egazini lami; yenzani lokhu izikhathi zonke lapho liyinatha, njengesikhumbuzo sami.”
26 For every time you eat this bread and drink from this cup you announce the Lord's death, until he returns.”
Ngoba lapho lisidla isinkwa lesi linatha lenkezo le, litshumayela ukufa kweNkosi ize ibuye.
27 So anyone who eats the bread or drinks from the Lord's cup in a dishonorable way will be guilty of doing wrong against the body and blood of the Lord.
Ngakho-ke, lowo odla isinkwa loba anathe inkezo yenkosi ngokungafanelanga uzakuba lecala lokwenza isono ngomzimba langegazi leNkosi.
28 Let each person examine themselves, and then let them eat the bread and drink from the cup.
Umuntu kumele azihlole phambi kokuba adle isinkwa loba anathe inkezo.
29 Those who eat and drink bring judgment on themselves if they don't recognize their relationship with the body of the Lord.
Ngoba lowo odlayo anathe engawukholwa umzimba kaKhristu udla anathe ukwahlulelwa kwakhe.
30 That's the reason why many of you are weak and sick, and some even have died.
Yikho-nje abanengi phakathi kwenu bebuthakathaka begula, njalo labanye benu sebelele.
31 However, if we really examined ourselves, we would not be judged like this.
Kodwa nxa sizahlulela kasiyikwahlulelwa.
32 But when we are judged, we are being disciplined by the Lord so that we won't be condemned along with the world.
Lapho sisahlulelwa yiNkosi, siyajeziswa ukuze singalahlwa lomhlaba.
33 So my brothers and sisters, when you meet together to eat the Lord's Supper, wait for each other.
Ngakho-ke, bazalwane bami, nxa libuthene ukuba lidle, kumele lidle ndawonye.
34 If anyone is hungry, then eat at home so that when you meet together you won't bring condemnation on yourselves. I'll give you more directions when I visit.
Nxa omunye elambile, kabokudla ekhaya, ukuze kuthi lapho selibuthene kungabi lokwahlulelwa. Ekufikeni kwami ngizalipha ezinye iziqondiso.
