1 Chronicles 20
1 In spring, at the time of year when kings go out to make war, Joab led the Israelite army in attacks against the country of the Ammonites, also besieging Rabbah. However, David remained behind in Jerusalem. Joab attacked Rabbah and destroyed it.
Qua năm mới, lúc các vua thường ra đánh giặc, Giô-áp cầm đội binh kéo ra phá hoang xứ dân Am-môn; người đến vây thành Ráp-ba; còn Ða-vít ở tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Giô-áp hãm đánh Ráp-ba, và phá hủy nó.
2 David took the crown from the head of their idol Milcom. It was made of gold, and was set with gems. It weighed a talent and was placed on David's head. David also took a great deal of plunder from the city.
Ða-vít lấy mão triều thiên của vua dân Am-môn khỏi đầu người, cân được một ta lâng vàng, và ở trên có những ngọc báu; bèn lấy mão triều thiên ấy đội trên đầu Ða-vít; lại từ trong thành người lấy ra rất nhiều của cướp.
3 David made the people there work with saws, iron picks, and axes. He also did the same to all the Ammonite towns. Then David and all his army returned to Jerusalem.
Còn dân sự ở trong thành, người đem ra mà cắt xẻ ra hoặc bằng cưa, hoặc bằng bừa sắt, hay là bằng rìu. Ða-vít làm như vậy cho các thành của dân Am-môn. Ðoạn, Ða-vít và cả quân lính đều trở về Giê-ru-sa-lem.
4 Some time after this was broke out with the Philistines at Gezer. But then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, a descendant of the Rephaim, and the Philistines were forced to submit.
Sau việc đó, xảy có chinh chiến với dân Phi-li-tin tại Ghê-xe. Khi ấy Si-bê-cai, người Hu-sa-tít, đánh giết Síp-bai, vốn thuộc trong dòng kẻ khổng lồ; chúng bèn bị suy phục.
5 In another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan, son of Jair, killed Lahmi, the brother of Goliath the Gittite. The shaft of his spear was as thick as a weaver's rod.
Lại còn giặc giã với dân Phi-li-tin nữa; Eân-ha-nan, con trai của Giai-rơ, đánh giết Lác-mi, em của Gô-li-át, người Gát; cái cán giáo người lớn như cây trục của thợ dệt.
6 In yet another battle at Gath, there was a gigantic man, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, making twenty-four all. He too was descended from the giants.
Lại còn một trận đánh nữa tại Gát; ở đó có một người tướng tá lớn cao, có mỗi tay sáu ngón và mỗi chân sáu ngón, hết thảy là hai mươi bốn ngón; hắn cũng thuộc về dòng khổng lồ.
7 But when he insulted Israel, Jonathan, son of Shimea, David's brother, killed him.
Hắn sỉ nhục Y-sơ-ra-ên; nhưng Giô-na-than, con trai của Si-mê-a, em của Ða-vít, đánh giết người.
8 These were the descendants of the giants in Gath, abut they were all killed by David and his men.
Những kẻ đó đều thuộc về dòng khổng lồ tại Gát; chúng đều bị tay Ða-vít và tay các tôi tớ người giết đi.
