1 In spring, at the time of year when kings go out to make war, Joab led the Israelite army in attacks against the country of the Ammonites, also besieging Rabbah. However, David remained behind in Jerusalem. Joab attacked Rabbah and destroyed it.
factum est autem post anni circulum eo tempore quo solent reges ad bella procedere congregavit Ioab exercitum et robur militiae et vastavit terram filiorum Ammon perrexitque et obsedit Rabba porro David manebat in Hierusalem quando Ioab percussit Rabba et destruxit eam
2 David took the crown from the head of their idol Milcom. It was made of gold, and was set with gems. It weighed a talent and was placed on David's head. David also took a great deal of plunder from the city.
tulit autem David coronam Melchom de capite eius et invenit in ea auri pondo talentum et pretiosissimas gemmas fecitque sibi inde diadema manubias quoque urbis plurimas tulit
3 David made the people there work with saws, iron picks, and axes. He also did the same to all the Ammonite towns. Then David and all his army returned to Jerusalem.
populum autem qui erat in ea eduxit et fecit super eos tribulas et trahas et ferrata carpenta transire ita ut dissicarentur et contererentur sic fecit David cunctis urbibus filiorum Ammon et reversus est cum omni populo suo in Hierusalem

6 In yet another battle at Gath, there was a gigantic man, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, making twenty-four all. He too was descended from the giants.

7 But when he insulted Israel, Jonathan, son of Shimea, David's brother, killed him.

8 These were the descendants of the giants in Gath, abut they were all killed by David and his men.
