< 1 Chronicles 16 >
1 They brought the Ark of God and placed it in the tent that David had prepared for it. They presented burnt offerings and friendship offerings to God.
Therfor thei brouyten the arke of God, and settiden it in the myddis of the tabernacle, that Dauid hadde araied therto; and thei offriden brent sacrifices and pesible sacrifices bifor the Lord.
2 Once David had finished presenting the burnt offerings and friendship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.
And whanne Dauid offrynge brent sacrifices and pesible sacrifices hadde fillid, he blesside the puple in the name of the Lord;
3 Then he shared out to every Israelite, to every man and woman, a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.
and departide to alle to ech bi hym silf fro a man til to a womman o cake of breed, and a part of rostid fleisch of a bugle, and flour fried in oile.
4 David assigned some of the Levites to serve as ministers before the Ark of the Lord, to remember, to thank, and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel.
And he ordeynede bifor the arke of the Lord, of the Leuytis, that schulden mynystre, and haue mynde of the werkis of the Lord, and glorifie and preyse the Lord God of Israel;
5 Asaph was the one in charge, Zechariah was second, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They played harps and lyres, and Asaph struck the cymbals,
`he ordeynede Asaph the prince, and Zacharie his secounde; forsothe `he ordeynede Jahiel, and Semiramoth, and Jahel, and Mathathie, and Eliab, and Banaye, and Obededom, and Jehiel, on the orguns, on the sautrie, and on the harpis; but he ordeynede Asaph to sowne with cymbalis;
6 and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel blew the trumpets continually in front of the Ark of God's Agreement.

7 This was the day that David first instructed Asaph and his relatives to express thanks to the Lord in this way:
In that dai Dauid made Asaph prince, and hise britheren, for to knowleche `to the Lord.
8 Give the Lord thanks, worship his wonderful nature, let people know what he's done!
Knowleche ye to the Lord, and inwardli clepe ye his name; make ye hise fyndyngis knowun among puplis.
9 Sing to him, sing his praises; tell everyone the great things he's done!
Synge ye to hym, and seie ye salm to hym, and telle ye alle his merueylis.
10 Be proud of his holy character; be happy, all who come to the Lord!
Preise ye his hooli name; the herte of men sekynge the Lord be glad.
11 Look for the Lord, and his strength; always look to be with him.
Seke ye the Lord and his vertu; seke ye euere his face.
12 Remember all the wonderful things he's done, the miracles he's performed, and the judgments he's carried out,
Haue ye mynde of hise merueilis whiche he dide; of hise signes, and of the domes of his mouth.
13 descendants of Israel, children of Jacob, his chosen people.
The seed of Israel, his seruaunt, preise thou God; the sones of Jacob, his chosun, preise ye God.
14 He is the Lord, our God, his judgments cover the whole earth.
He is `oure Lord God; hise domes ben in ech lond.
15 He remembers his agreement forever, the promise he made lasts for a thousand generations;
Haue ye mynde with outen ende of his couenaunt; of the word whiche he couenauntide `in to a thousynde generaciouns.
16 the agreement he made with Abraham, the vow he gave to Isaac.
Which word he couenauntide with Abraham; and of his ooth to Ysaac.
17 The Lord legally confirmed it with Jacob, he made this everlasting agreement with Israel:
And he ordeynede that to Jacob in to a comaundement; and to Israel in to euerlastynge couenaunt.
18 saying, “I will give the land of Canaan to you for you to possess.”
And seide, To thee Y schal yyue the lond of Canaan; the part of youre erytage.
19 He said this when there were only a few of you, just a small group of foreigners in the land.
Whanne thei weren fewe in noumbre; litle, and pilgrims therof.
20 They wandered from country to country, from one kingdom to the next.
And thei passiden fro folk in to the folk; and fro a rewme to another puple.
21 He didn't let anyone one treat them badly; warning kings to leave them alone:
He suffride not ony man falseli chalenge hem; but he blamyde kyngis for hem.
22 “Don't touch my chosen people; don't harm my prophets!”
Nyle ye touche my cristis; and nyle ye do wickidli ayens my prophetis.
23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth, sing to the Lord! Each day let everyone know of his salvation!
Al erthe, singe ye to the Lord; telle ye fro dai into dai his helthe.
24 Declare his glorious acts among the nations, the wonderful things he does among all peoples.
Telle ye among hethen men his glorie; hise merueylis among alle puplis.
25 For the Lord is great, and deserves the best praise! He is to be respected with awe above all gods.
For the Lord is greet, and worthi to be preisid ful myche; and he is orible, `ethir griseful, ouer alle goddis.
26 For all the gods of other nations are idols; but the Lord made the heavens!
For alle the goddis of puplis ben idols; but the Lord made heuenes.
27 Splendor and majesty are his; power and glory are in his sanctuary.
Knoulechyng and greet doyng ben bifor hym; strengthe and ioy ben in the place of hym.
28 Give the Lord credit, nations of the world, credit him with glory and strength.
Ye meynees of puplis, `bringe ye to the Lord; brynge ye to the Lord glorie and empire.
29 Give the Lord the glory he deserves; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the Lord in his magnificent holiness.
Yyue ye glorie to his name, reise ye sacrifice, and come ye in his siyt; and worschipe ye the Lord in hooli fairnesse.
30 Let everyone on earth tremble in his presence. The world is held together firmly—it cannot be broken apart.
Al erthe be mouyd fro his face; for he foundide the world vnmouable.
31 Let the heavens sing for joy, let the earth be happy. Tell the nations, “The Lord is in charge!”
Heuenes be glad, and the erthe `ioy fulli; and seie thei among naciouns, The Lord schal regne.
32 Let the sea and everything in it shout with praise! Let the fields and everything there celebrate;
The see thundre, and his fulnesse; the feeldis fulli ioye, and alle thingis that ben in tho.
33 Let all the trees in the forest sing for joy, for he is coming to judge the earth.
Thanne the trees of the forest schulen preyse bifor the Lord; for he cometh to deme the erthe.
34 Say thank you to the Lord, for he is good! His trustworthy love continues forever!
Knouleche ye to the Lord, for he is good; for his mersi is withouten ende.
35 Shout out, “Save us, Lord, our God! Bring us back together from among the nations, rescue us, so we can thank you and praise how magnificent and holy you are.”
And seie ye, Thou God oure sauyour, saue vs, and gadere vs, and delyuere vs fro hethen men; that we knowleche to thin hooli name, and be fulli glade in thi songis.
36 How wonderful is the Lord, the God of Israel, who lives forever and ever! Then all the people said, “Amen!” and “Praise the Lord!”
Blessid be the Lord God of Israel fro with oute bigynnyng and til `in to with outen ende; and al the puple seie, Amen, and seie heriyng to God.
37 Then David made sure Asaph and his brothers would minister continually before the Ark of the Lord's Agreement, performing whatever services were needed every day,
Therfor Dauid lefte there, bifor the arke of boond of pees of the Lord, Asaph and hise britheren, for to mynystre in the siyt of the arke contynueli bi alle daies and her whilis.
38 as well as Obed-edom and his sixty-eight relatives. Obed-edom, son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, were gatekeepers.
Forsothe he ordeynede porteris, Obededom and hise britheren, eiyte and sixti, and Obededom, the sone of Idithum, and Oza.
39 David put Zadok the priest and his fellow priests in charge of the Ark of the Lord at the high place in Gibeon
Sotheli `he ordeynede Sadoch preest, and hise britheren, preestis bifor the tabernacle of the Lord, in the hiy place that was in Gabaon,
40 to present burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offerings, morning and evening, according to all that was written in the law of the Lord which he had ordered Israel to follow.
for to offre brent sacrifices to the Lord on the auter of brent sacrifice contynueli, in the morwetid and euentid, bi alle thingis that ben writun in the lawe of the Lord, which he comaundide to Israel.
41 They were accompanied by Heman, Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen and identified by name to give thanks to the Lord, for “His trustworthy love lasts forever.”
And aftir hym Dauyd ordeynede Eman, and Idithum, and other chosene, ech man bi his name, for to knowleche to the Lord; for his mercy is withouten ende.
42 Heman and Jeduthun used their trumpets and cymbals to make music to accompany the songs of God. The sons of Jeduthun guarded the gate.
Also he ordeynede Eman, and Idithum, trumpynge, and schakynge cymbalis, and alle orguns of musikis, for to synge to God; forsothe he made the sones of Idithum to be portours, `ether bereris.
43 Then all the people went home, and David went to bless his family.
And al the puple turnede ayen in to her hows, and Dauid turnede ayen, to blesse also his hows.
