Philippians 1
1 Paul and Timothy, slaves of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:
基督耶穌的僕人保祿和弟茂德，致書給斐理伯的眾位在基督內的聖徒、監督及執事；
2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and Sovereign Jesus Christ.
願恩寵與平安由天主的父和主耶穌基督賜與你們!
3 I thank my God every time I remember you;
我一想起你們，就感謝我的天主；
4 in all my prayers for all of you I always pray with joy,
我每次祈禱，總懷著喜悅為你們眾位祈禱，
5 because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now,
因為你們從最初的一天直到現在，就協助了宣傳福音的工作；
6 being certain of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the Day of Jesus Christ;
我深信，在你們內開始這美好工作的那位，必予以完成，直到耶穌基督的日子。
7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel you all are partakers with me of the Grace.
我這樣想念你們眾人，是理當的，因為我在心內常懷念你們，不論我帶鎖鏈，或辯護或確證福音時，你們常參與了我受的恩寵。
8 God is my witness how I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
天主為我作證：我是怎樣以基督耶穌的情懷愛你們眾人。
9 This is what I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more in real knowledge and full discernment,
我所祈求的是：願你們的愛德日漸增長，渥真知識和各種識見，
10 for you to identify the things that really matter; that you may be sincere and blameless until the Day of Christ,
使你們能辨別卓絕之事，為叫你們直到基督的日子，常潔淨無瑕的，
11 having been filled with the fruits of righteousness that are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
賴耶穌基督滿結義德的果實，為光榮讚美天主。
12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that the events against me have actually turned out for the advancement of the Gospel:
弟兄們! 我願意告訴你們， 我的環境對於福音的進展反而有了益處，
13 as a result, it has become evident to the whole imperial guard, and to everyone else, that I am in chains for Christ;
以致御營全軍和其餘眾人都明明知道，我帶鎖鏈是為基督的緣故；
14 also, most of the brothers in Sovereign have been influenced by my chains to be much bolder, to speak the Word fearlessly.
並且大多數的弟兄，因我帶鎖槤，就更依靠主，更敢講論天主的道理，一點也不害怕。
15 To be sure, some are even preaching Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of good will;
有些人宣講基督，固然是出於嫉忌和競爭，有些人人卻是出於善意；
16 the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, thinking to add to my affliction while in chains,
這些出愛的人，知道我是被立為護衛福音的；
17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am set here for the defense of the Gospel.
那些出於私見宣傳基督的人，目的不純正，想要給我的鎖鏈更增添煩惱。
18 No problem: in every way, be it in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in this I rejoice—yes, and will rejoice.
那有什麼妨礙呢﹖無論如何，或是假意，或是誠心，終究是宣傳了基督。為此，如今我喜歡，將來我仍然要喜歡，
19 You see, I know that this will turn out for my deliverance (through your supplication and the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ)
因為我知道，賴你們的祈禱和耶穌基督的聖神的輔助， 這事必有利於我的得救。
20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that I will not be put to shame in anything but be truly bold, so that now as always Christ will be glorified in my person, whether by life or by death
按照我所熱切期待希望的，我在任何事上必不會蒙羞所以現在和將來一樣，我反而放心大膽，我或生或死，總要叫基督在我身上受頌揚。
21 —to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
因為在我看來，生活原是基督，死亡乃是利益。
22 Now if I am to live on in the flesh it will mean fruitful labor for me, so I do not know what to choose.
如果生活在肉身內，我還能獲得工作的效果：我現在揀選那一樣，我自己也不知道。
23 I am torn between the two: I have the desire to depart and be with Christ (far better),
我正夾在兩之間：我渴望求解脫而與基督在一起：這實在是再好沒有了；
24 but to remain in the flesh is more necessary, because of you.
但存留在肉身內，對你們卻十分重要。
25 So having been persuaded of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith,
我確信不疑：知道我必要存留，且必要為你們眾人存留於世， 為使你們在信德上，得到進展和喜樂，
26 so that your rejoicing over me may be more abundant in Christ Jesus, through my coming to you again.
並使你們因我再來到你們中，同我在基督耶穌內更加歡躍。
27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you, or am absent, I may hear about you that you stand firm in one spirit, striving together for the faith of the Gospel with one soul,
你們生活度日只應合乎基督的福音，好叫我或來看望你們，或不在時，聽到關於你們的事，知道你們仍保時同一的精神， 一心一意為福音的信仰共同奮鬥，
28 and not being intimidated in any way by your opponents: to them this is an indicator of ruin, but to you of deliverance, and that from God.
一點也不為敵人所嚇住：這樣證明了他們必將喪亡，你們必將得救，因為這是出於天主，
29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe into Him, but also to suffer for His sake,
因為，為了基督的緣故， 賜給你們的恩賜，不但是為相信祂， 而且也是為祂受苦：
30 having the same struggle that you saw in me and now hear to be in me.
就是要遭受你們曾在我身上所見的，及如今由我所聽到的同樣的決鬥。
