< Matthew 4 >

1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tested by the devil.
Pea naʻe tataki ʻa Sisu ʻe he Laumālie ki he toafa ke ʻahiʻahiʻi ia ʻe he tēvolo.
2 And having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
Pea hili ʻene ʻaukai ʻi he ʻaho ʻe fāngofulu mo e pō ʻe fāngofulu, naʻe toki fiekaia ia.
3 And coming to Him the tempter said, “Since you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.”
Pea naʻe haʻu ʻae ʻahiʻahi kiate ia, pea pehē ʻe ia, “Kapau ko e ʻAlo koe ʻoe ʻOtua, fekau ki he ngaahi maka ni ke liliu ko e mā.”
4 But in answer He said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word coming out of God's mouth.’”
Ka naʻe lea ia, ʻo pehēange, “Kuo tohi, ‘ʻE ʻikai moʻui ʻae tangata ʻi he mā pe, ka ʻi he folofola kotoa pē ʻoku haʻu mei he ʻOtua.’”
5 Then the devil takes Him into the holy city and sets Him upon the pinnacle of the temple,
Pea toki ʻohake ia ʻe he tēvolo ki he kolo tapu, ʻo tuku ia ki he tuʻa falelotu lahi,
6 and says to Him, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written: ‘He will give orders to His angels about you, and they will lift you up on their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”
‌ʻO ne pehē kiate ia, “Kapau ko e ʻAlo koe ʻoe ʻOtua, fakato koe ki lalo: he kuo tohi, ‘ʻE fekau ʻe ia ʻene kau ʻāngelo ke nau vakai koe: pea ʻe hapahapai koe, telia naʻa touʻia ho vaʻe ʻi he maka.’”
7 Jesus said to him, “It is also written: ‘You shall not test the Lord your God!’”
Pea pehēange ʻe Sisu kiate ia, “Kuo tohi foki, ‘ʻOua naʻa ke ʻahiʻahi ki he ʻEiki ko ho ʻOtua.’”
8 Again the devil takes Him to a very high mountain and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
Pea toe ʻohake ia ʻe he tēvolo ki he moʻunga māʻolunga ʻaupito, ʻo ne fakahā kiate ia ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻo māmani, mo honau lelei;
9 And he says to Him, “All these things I will give to you, if You will fall down and worship me.”
‌ʻo ne pehē kiate ia, “Te u ʻatu ʻae ngaahi meʻa ni kotoa pē moʻou, ʻo kapau te ke fakatōmapeʻe ʻo hū kiate au.”
10 Then Jesus says to him: “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’”
Pea talaange ʻe Sisu kiate ia, “Ke ke ʻalu ʻi heni, Sētane: he kuo tohi, ‘Ke ke hū ki he ʻEiki ko ho ʻOtua, pea ko ia pe te ke tauhi.’”
11 Then the devil leaves Him, and then, angels came and began ministering to Him.
Pea toki ʻalu ʻae tēvolo ʻiate ia, pea ʻiloange, kuo haʻu ʻae kau ʻāngelo ʻo tauhi ia.
12 Now hearing that John had been put in prison, Jesus departed into Galilee.
Pea ʻi he fanongo ʻa Sisu kuo tuku ʻa Sione ki he fale fakapōpula, naʻe ʻalu ia ki Kaleli;
13 And leaving Natsareth behind, He went and took up residence in Capernaum by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali;
Pea mahuʻi ia mei Nāsaleti, pea ʻalu ʻo nofo ʻi Kapaneume, ʻaia ʻoku ʻi he matātahi, ʻi he ngataʻanga ʻoe fonua ʻo Sepulone mo Nafitalai:
14 so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet should be fulfilled, namely:
Koeʻuhi ke fakamoʻoni ʻaia naʻe lea ʻaki ʻe he palōfita ko ʻIsaia, ʻo pehē,
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations!
“Ko e fonua ʻo Sepulone, mo e fonua ʻo Nafitalai, ʻi he potu ki tahi, ʻituʻa Sioatani, ko Kaleli ʻoe Senitaile,
16 The people sitting in darkness saw a great light, and upon those sitting in the place and shadow of death light has dawned.”
Ko e kakai naʻe nofo ʻi he poʻuli, kuo mamata ki he maama lahi; pea kuo tupu hake ʻae maama kiate kinautolu naʻe nofo ʻi he teleʻa mo e ʻata ʻoe mate.”
17 From then on Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has come near.”
Pea naʻe fua malanga ʻa Sisu ʻi he kuonga ko ia, ʻo pehē, “Mou fakatomala, he ʻoku ofi ʻae puleʻanga ʻoe langi.”
18 And walking by the Sea of Galilee He saw two brothers, Simon (the one called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a circular net into the sea (for they were fishermen).
Pea ʻi he hāʻele ʻa Sisu ʻo ofi ki he tahi ʻo Kaleli, naʻe mamata ia ki he ongo kāinga, ko Saimone naʻe ui ko Pita, mo ʻAnitelū ko hono tokoua, ʻoku na lafo kupenga ki tahi: he ko e ongo toutai ika ʻakinaua.
19 And He says to them, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”
Pea pehē ʻe ia kiate kinaua, “Muimui ʻiate au, pea te u ngaohi ʻakimoua ko e toutai tangata.”
20 So leaving the nets immediately they followed Him.
Pea naʻa na liʻaki leva hona kupenga, ʻo muimui ʻiate ia.
21 And going on from there He saw two other brothers, James (the one of Zebedee) and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. And He called them.
Pea ʻalu ia mei ai, pea ne mamata ki he ongo kāinga kehe, ko Semisi ko e [foha ]ʻo Sepeti, mo Sione ko hono tokoua, ʻi he vaka mo ʻena tamai ko Sepeti, ʻo pena honau kupenga; pea ne ui ʻakinaua.
22 So leaving the boat and their father immediately they followed Him.
Pea naʻa na liʻaki leva ʻae vaka mo ʻena tamai, ka na muimui ʻiate ia.
23 Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every illness among the people.
Pea ʻalu ʻa Sisu ʻi he potu kotoa pē ʻo Kaleli, ʻo akonaki ʻi honau ngaahi falelotu, pea malangaʻaki ʻae ongoongolelei ʻoe puleʻanga, ʻo ne fakamoʻui ʻae mahaki kehekehe kotoa pē, mo e hangatāmaki kotoa pē naʻe ʻi he kakai.
24 So His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were sick—suffering with various diseases and torments, and being demonized and being moonstruck, and paralytics—and He healed them.
Pea mafola atu hono ongoongo ʻi Silia kotoa pē: pea nau ʻomi kiate ia ʻae kakai mahaki kotoa pē, naʻe tuʻia ʻi he mahaki kehekehe mo e ngaahi feinga mamahi, mo e niʻihi naʻe ʻulusino ai ʻae ngaahi tēvolo, mo kinautolu naʻe vale, mo kinautolu naʻe mahaki tete; pea ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu.
25 So large crowds followed Him—from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and beyond the Jordan.
Pea naʻe muimui ʻiate ia ʻae kakai lahi ʻaupito mei Kaleli, mo Tikapolusi, mo Selūsalema, mo Siutea, pea mo e kauvai ʻe taha ʻo Sioatani.
