< Matthew 4 >

1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tested by the devil.
Zvino Jesu wakatungamirirwa neMweya kurenje kuti anoidzwa nadhiabhorosi.
2 And having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
Zvino wakati atsanya mazuva makumi mana neusiku makumi mana, akazonzwa nzara.
3 And coming to Him the tempter said, “Since you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.”
Zvino muidzi wakati auya kwaari, akati: Kana uri Mwanakomana waMwari, raira kuti mabwe awa aite zvingwa.
4 But in answer He said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word coming out of God's mouth.’”
Asi iye wakapindura akati: Kwakanyorwa kuchinzi: Munhu haangararami nechingwa chega, asi neshoko rimwe nerimwe rinobuda mumuromo maMwari.
5 Then the devil takes Him into the holy city and sets Him upon the pinnacle of the temple,
Zvino dhiabhorosi wakamutora akamuisa muguta dzvene, akamumisa pachiruvu chetembere,
6 and says to Him, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written: ‘He will give orders to His angels about you, and they will lift you up on their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”
ndokuti kwaari: Kana uri Mwanakomana waMwari, zvikandire pasi; nokuti kwakanyorwa kuti: Iye acharaira vatumwa vake pamusoro pako, uye pamaoko vachakugamha, zvimwe ungagumbusa rutsoka rwako pabwe.
7 Jesus said to him, “It is also written: ‘You shall not test the Lord your God!’”
Jesu akati kwaari: Kwakanyorwa zvekare: Usaidza Ishe Mwari wako.
8 Again the devil takes Him to a very high mountain and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
Dhiabhorosi akamuisazve pagomo refusa, akamuratidza ushe hwese hwenyika nekubwinya kwahwo.
9 And he says to Him, “All these things I will give to you, if You will fall down and worship me.”
Akati kwaari: Zvese zvinhu izvi ndichapa kwauri kana ukawira pasi ukandinamata.
10 Then Jesus says to him: “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’”
Ipapo Jesu akati kwaari: Ibva, Satani, nokuti kwakanyorwa kuchinzi: Uchanamata Ishe Mwari wako, uchashumira iye oga.
11 Then the devil leaves Him, and then, angels came and began ministering to Him.
Ipapo dhiabhorosi akamusiya; zvino tarira, vatumwa vakauya vakamushandira.
12 Now hearing that John had been put in prison, Jesus departed into Galilee.
Zvino Jesu wakati anzwa kuti Johwani wakumikidzwa mutirongo, akabva akaenda Garirea.
13 And leaving Natsareth behind, He went and took up residence in Capernaum by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali;
Zvino wakabva Nazareta, akauya akagara muKapenaume riri pagungwa, mumiganhu yeZebhuruni neNafitarimi;
14 so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet should be fulfilled, namely:
kuti zvizadziswe zvakarehwa naIsaya muporofita, achiti:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations!
Nyika yeZebhuruni nenyika yeNefitarimi, panzira yegungwa, mhiri kwaJoridhani, Garirea revahedheni;
16 The people sitting in darkness saw a great light, and upon those sitting in the place and shadow of death light has dawned.”
vanhu vakange vagere murima vakaona chiedza chikuru; nevakange vagere panharaunda nemumumvuri werufu, chiedza chakabudira kwavari.
17 From then on Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has come near.”
Kubvira panguva iyo Jesu wakatanga kuparidza nokuti: Tendeukai, nokuti ushe hwekumatenga hwaswedera.
18 And walking by the Sea of Galilee He saw two brothers, Simon (the one called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a circular net into the sea (for they were fishermen).
Zvino Jesu wakati achifamba-famba parutivi rwegungwa reGarirea akaona vanakomana vemunhu umwe vaviri, Simoni anonzi Petro, naAndiriya munin'ina wake, vachikandira mumbure mugungwa; nokuti vakange vari varedzi.
19 And He says to them, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”
Akati kwavari: Nditeverei, ndigokuitai varedzi vevanhu.
20 So leaving the nets immediately they followed Him.
Pakarepo vakasiya mimbure vakamutevera.
21 And going on from there He saw two other brothers, James (the one of Zebedee) and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. And He called them.
Zvino wakati apfuurira kubva ipapo akaona vamwe vaviri vanakomana vemunhu umwe, Jakobho waZebhedhi naJohwani munin'ina wake muchikepe pamwe naZebhedhi baba vavo, vachigadzira mimbure yavo, akavadana.
22 So leaving the boat and their father immediately they followed Him.
Pakarepo vakasiya chikepe nababa vavo vakamutevera.
23 Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every illness among the people.
Jesu akapota neGarirea rese achidzidzisa mumasinagoge avo, nekuparidza evhangeri yeushe, achiporesa denda rega-rega neurwere hwega-hwega pavanhu.
24 So His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were sick—suffering with various diseases and torments, and being demonized and being moonstruck, and paralytics—and He healed them.
Shoko rake rikabudira kuSiriya yese; vakauisa kwaari varwere vese, vakabatwa nehosha dzakasiyana-siyana, nemarwadzo, nevakange vane madhimoni, nevaiva nezvipusha, nevakange vakafa mitezo; akavaporesa.
25 So large crowds followed Him—from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and beyond the Jordan.
Zvino zvaunga zvikuru zvakamutevera, vaibva Garirea, neDhekapori, neJerusarema, neJudhiya, nemhiri kwaJoridhani.
