< Matthew 4 >
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tested by the devil.
Ipapo Jesu akatungamirirwa naMweya Mutsvene kurenje kuti andoedzwa nadhiabhori.
2 And having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
Mushure mokunge atsanya kwamazuva makumi mana nousiku huna makumi mana, akanzwa nzara.
3 And coming to Him the tempter said, “Since you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.”
Muedzi akauya kwaari akasvikoti, “Kana uri Mwanakomana waMwari, rayira mabwe aya kuti ave chingwa.”
4 But in answer He said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word coming out of God's mouth.’”
Jesu akapindura akati, “Kwakanyorwa kuchinzi, ‘Munhu haararame nechingwa bedzi, asi neshoko rimwe nerimwe rinobva mumuromo waMwari.’”
5 Then the devil takes Him into the holy city and sets Him upon the pinnacle of the temple,
Ipapo dhiabhori akamutora akaenda naye muguta dzvene uye akandomuita kuti amire pachiruvi chetemberi, akati,
6 and says to Him, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written: ‘He will give orders to His angels about you, and they will lift you up on their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”
“Kana uri Mwanakomana waMwari, zviwisire pasi, nokuti kwakanyorwa kuchinzi: “Acharayira vatumwa vake pamusoro pako uye vachakusimudza namaoko avo kuti urege kugumburisa rutsoka rwako nebwe.”
7 Jesus said to him, “It is also written: ‘You shall not test the Lord your God!’”
Jesu akamupindura akati, “Kwakanyorwawo kuchinzi, ‘Usaedza Ishe Mwari wako.’”
8 Again the devil takes Him to a very high mountain and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
Dhiabhori akamutorazve akaenda naye pamusoro pegomo refu kwazvo uye akamuratidza ushe hwose hwenyika nokubwinya kwahwo,
9 And he says to Him, “All these things I will give to you, if You will fall down and worship me.”
akati, “Zvose izvi ndichakupa kana ukandikotamira uye ukandinamata.”
10 Then Jesus says to him: “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’”
Jesu akati kwaari, “Ibva pandiri Satani! Nokuti kwakanyorwa kuchinzi, ‘Namata Ishe Mwari wako uye umushumire iye oga.’”
11 Then the devil leaves Him, and then, angels came and began ministering to Him.
Ipapo dhiabhori akamusiya, uye vatumwa vakauya vakamushandira.
12 Now hearing that John had been put in prison, Jesus departed into Galilee.
Jesu akati anzwa kuti Johani akanga aiswa mutorongo, akadzokera kuGarirea.
13 And leaving Natsareth behind, He went and took up residence in Capernaum by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali;
Achibva kuNazareta, akaenda akandogara kuKapenaume, guta raiva pamahombekombe egungwa mudunhu reZebhuruni neNafutari,
14 so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet should be fulfilled, namely:
kuti azadzise zvakarehwa nomuprofita Isaya achiti:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations!
“Nyika yeZebhuruni nenyika yeNafutari, nzira inoenda kugungwa, ichitevedza Jorodhani, Garirea reveDzimwe Ndudzi,
16 The people sitting in darkness saw a great light, and upon those sitting in the place and shadow of death light has dawned.”
vanhu vaigara murima vakaona chiedza chikuru; kune avo vaigara munyika yomumvuri worufu, chiedza chavhenekera.”
17 From then on Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has come near.”
Kubva panguva iyoyo zvichienda mberi, Jesu akatanga kuparidza achiti, “Tendeukai nokuti umambo hwokudenga hwava pedyo.”
18 And walking by the Sea of Galilee He saw two brothers, Simon (the one called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a circular net into the sea (for they were fishermen).
Jesu paakanga achifamba pedyo negungwa reGarirea, akaona varume vaviri, Simoni ainzi Petro nomununʼuna wake Andirea. Vakanga vachikanda mambure avo mugungwa nokuti vaiva vabati vehove.
19 And He says to them, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”
Jesu akati kwavari, “Uyai munditevere, uye ndichakuitai vabati vavanhu.”
20 So leaving the nets immediately they followed Him.
Pakarepo vakabva vasiya mambure avo, vakamutevera.
21 And going on from there He saw two other brothers, James (the one of Zebedee) and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. And He called them.
Achibva ipapo, akaonazve vamwe varume vaviri vaiva mukoma nomununʼuna, Jakobho mwanakomana waZebhedhi nomununʼuna wake Johani. Vakanga vari mugwa nababa vavo Zebhedhi vachigadzira mambure avo. Jesu akavadana,
22 So leaving the boat and their father immediately they followed Him.
uye pakarepo vakasiya igwa nababa vavo vakamutevera.
23 Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every illness among the people.
Jesu akapota neGarirea rose achidzidzisa mumasinagoge avo, achiparidza nhau dzakanaka dzoumambo uye achiporesa hosha dzose nourwere hwose pakati pavanhu.
24 So His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were sick—suffering with various diseases and torments, and being demonized and being moonstruck, and paralytics—and He healed them.
Mukurumbira wake wakapararira muSiria yose, uye vanhu vakauya kwaari navose vairwara nezvirwere zvakasiyana-siyana, avo vaitambudzwa namarwadzo akanyanya, vakanga vakabatwa namadhimoni, vaiva nezvipusha, nevakanga vakafa mitezo, uye akavaporesa.
25 So large crowds followed Him—from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and beyond the Jordan.
Vanhu vazhinji kwazvo vaibva kuGarirea, Dhekapori, Jerusarema, Judhea nedunhu riri mhiri kweJorodhani vakamutevera.
