Matthew 27
1 When early morning came, all the chief priests and elders plotted against Jesus to kill Him.
| לפנות בוקר שוב התכנסו ראשי הכוהנים וזקני העם, כדי להתייעץ כיצד לשכנע את המושל הרומאי להוציא את ישוע להורג. |
2 And having bound Him they went and handed Him over to Pontius Pilate, the governor.
| הם כבלו אותו ושלחו אותו לפילטוס, המושל הרומאי. |
3 (Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, felt regret and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and elders
| כאשר ראה יהודה הבוגד שישוע נידון למוות, התחרט על המעשה שעשה והחזיר את הכסף לראשי הכוהנים והזקנים. |
4 saying, “I sinned, by betraying innocent blood.” But they said: “What do we care? It's your problem!”
| ”חטאתי“, הכריז יהודה.”בגדתי באדם חף מפשע.“”לא אכפת לנו“, השיבו.”זאת הבעיה שלך.“ |
5 So throwing the silver down in the sanctuary he left, and went and hanged himself!
| יהודה זרק את הכסף על הרצפה במקדש, והלך לתלות את עצמו. |
6 Then the chief priests took the coins and said, “It isn't lawful to put them into the treasury, being blood money.”
| ראשי הכוהנים אספו את הכסף מהרצפה ואמרו:”איננו יכולים להכניס את הכסף לאוצר, כי התורה אוסרת קבלת כסף דמים.“ |
7 So after consultation they bought the potter's field with them, as a burial ground for strangers.
| הם התייעצו ביניהם, ולבסוף החליטו לקנות בכסף זה את שדה היוצר בירושלים, שהשתמשו בו לקבורת גויים. |
8 Therefore that field has been called ‘field of blood’ to this day.
| משום כך נקרא השדה ההוא עד היום הזה:”שדה הדם“. |
9 Then was fulfilled what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, namely: “And they took the thirty silver coins, the value of the one who was priced, whom some of the children of Israel priced,
| בזאת התקיימה נבואת זכריה:”הם לקחו את שלושים שקלי הכסף – המחיר שבו העריכו אותו בני ישראל – וקנו שדה מאת הקדר, כפי שהדריך אותי ה׳.“ |
10 and they gave them for the potter's field, just as the Lord directed me.”)
11 So Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him saying, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “As you say.”
| ישוע עמד לפני פילטוס, המושל הרומאי, וזה שאל אותו:”האם אתה מלך היהודים?“”אתה אומר“, השיב ישוע. |
12 But although the chief priests and elders kept accusing Him, He answered nothing.
| אולם כאשר ראשי הכוהנים והזקנים האשימו אותו, ישוע לא אמר דבר. |
13 Then Pilate says to Him, “Don't you hear all that they are saying against you?”
| ”האם אינך שומע את מה שהם אומרים?“שאל פילטוס. |
14 But He did not answer him, not even one word, so that the governor was really amazed.
| אך להפתעתו הרבה של המושל לא אמר ישוע דבר. |
15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release one prisoner to the crowd, whomever they wanted.
| כל שנה, לכבוד חג הפסח, נהג המושל לשחרר אסיר יהודי אחד לפי בחירת העם. |
16 Just then they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.
| באותה שנה היה בכלא אסיר ידוע לשמצה בשם ישוע בר־אבא. |
17 So while they were assembled Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you, Barabbas or Jesus who is called Messiah?”
| כאשר התאסף באותו בוקר המון רב לפני ביתו של פילטוס, הוא שאל:”את מי אשחרר לכם, את ישוע בר־אבא, או את ישוע הנקרא משיח?“ |
18 For he knew that they had handed Him over through envy.
| כי פילטוס ידע היטב שמסרו את ישוע מתוך קנאה. |
19 Now as he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, because I suffered a great deal in a dream today because of Him.”
| באותו זמן, כשישב פילטוס על כסאו בבית־הדין, שלחה אליו אשתו הודעה:”עזוב את האיש הטוב הזה לנפשו, כי בלילה האחרון חלמתי עליו חלום נורא.“ |
20 But the chief priests and elders had persuaded the crowds that they should ask for Barabbas, but destroy Jesus.
| בינתיים הספיקו ראשי הכוהנים והזקנים לשכנע את ההמון לדרוש את שחרורו של בר־אבא, ואת הוצאתו להורג של ישוע. |
21 So the governor spoke up and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” And they said, “Barabbas!”
| וכך כשחזר המושל ושאל:”את מי מהשניים אשחרר לכם?“צעק הקהל:”את בר־אבא!“ |
22 Pilate says to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Messiah?” They all say to him, “Let Him be crucified!”
| ”אם כך, מה אעשה עם ישוע הנקרא משיח?“שאל פילטוס.”צלוב אותו!“הם צעקו. |
23 So the governor said, “But, what evil did He do?” But they kept yelling all the more saying, “Let Him be crucified!”
| ”מדוע? מה עשה?“שאל פילטוס. הם לא ענו, ורק הגבירו את צעקותיהם:”צלוב אותו!“ |
24 When Pilate saw that nothing was being gained but rather a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd saying: “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man. It's your problem!”
| כשראה פילטוס שאין טעם להמשיך ושעלולה לפרוץ מהומה, דרש שיביאו אליו קערת מים. הוא רחץ את ידיו לעיני הקהל ואמר:”הידיים שלי נקיות מדמו של האיש הצדיק הזה. האחריות מוטלת עליכם!“ |
25 So in answer all the people said, “His blood be upon us and upon our children!”
| וההמון השיב בצעקה:”דמו עלינו ועל בנינו!“ |
26 Then he released Barabbas to them, but Jesus, after flogging Him, he delivered to be crucified.
| אז שחרר להם פילטוס את בר־אבא, ולאחר שהלקה את ישוע בשוטים מסרו לידי החיילים הרומאים, כדי שיקחו אותו לצליבה. |
27 Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him.
| אולם לפני כן הם לקחו אותו אל ארמון המושל וקראו לכל חיילי המשמר. |
28 They stripped Him and put a scarlet cloak on Him.
| הם הפשיטוהו והלבישוהו גלימת ארגמן. |
29 They plaited a crown out of thorns and put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and kneeling before Him they would mock Him saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
| לאחר מכן שזרו זר מקוצים ארוכים והניחו על ראשו ככתר, בידו הימנית שמו מקל כשרביט, כרעו ברך לפניו בלגלוג והתגרו בו בקריאות לעג:”יחי מלך היהודים!“ |
30 Spitting on Him they took the reed and hit Him repeatedly on the head.
| הם ירקו בפניו, חטפו מידו את המקל והכוהו על ראשו. |
31 After they had mocked Him they took the cloak off Him and put His own clothes back on; and they led Him away to be crucified.
| לאחר שסיימו החיילים להתלוצץ ולצחוק עליו, הפשיטו מעליו את הגלימה והלבישו אותו בבגדיו, והוציאו אותו החוצה לצליבה. |
32 Now as they went out they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon; they compelled him to carry His cross.
| בדרך למקום הצליבה הם פגשו את שמעון מקירניה ואילצו אותו לסחוב את הצלב של ישוע. |
33 Upon arriving at a place called Golgotha, which means ‘place of a skull’,
| הם המשיכו בדרכם עד שהגיעו למקום הנקרא”גלגלתא“, או”מקום הגולגולת“. |
34 they gave Him sour wine mixed with gall to drink; but having tasted it He would not drink.
| החיילים נתנו לו יין מסומם, אולם לאחר שטעם ממנו סרב לשתות אותו. |
35 Having crucified Him they divided up His clothes by casting lots.
| לאחר הצליבה הפילו החיילים גורל, כדי לחלק ביניהם את בגדיו של ישוע. |
36 And sitting down there they guarded Him.
| ואז התיישבו והביטו בישוע על הצלב. |
37 And they put the charge against Him over His head in writing: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
| מעל ראשו הם תלו שלט:”זהו ישוע מלך היהודים.“ |
38 Then they crucified two bandits with Him, one on His right and one on His left.
| יחד עם ישוע נצלבו גם שני פושעים – אחד לימינו ואחד לשמאלו. |
39 And the passers-by kept blaspheming Him, wagging their heads
| העוברים ושבים קללו אותו, לעגו לו וקראו: |
40 and saying: “You who destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself!” “If you are ‘Son of God’, come down from the cross!”
| ”נו, אתה יכול להרוס את בית המקדש ולבנותו מחדש בשלושה ימים? אם אתה בן־אלוהים, מדוע אינך יורד מהצלב ומציל את עצמך?“ |
41 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders and Pharisees, said:
| גם ראשי הכוהנים, הסופרים והזקנים חרפו אותו ולעגו לו: |
42 “He saved others; himself he cannot save!” “If he is ‘King of Israel’ let him come down from the cross now and we will believe him!”
| ”הוא יכול להושיע את כולם חוץ מאשר את עצמו!“צחקו.”משיח שכמוהו!“קראו.”מלך ישראל, הבה נראה אותו יורד מהצלב, ואז נאמין בו! |
43 “He trusted in God; let Him rescue him now, if He wants him; for he said, ‘I am God's Son.’”
| הרי בטח באלוהים, נראה אם אלוהים באמת יציל אותו. הרי אמר שהוא בן־אלוהים!“ |
44 Even the bandits who were crucified with Him were reviling Him in the same way.
| גם הפושעים שנצלבו לידו העליבו אותו בצורה דומה. |
45 Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour a darkness came over all the land.
| בשעה שתים־עשרה בצהריים כיסה חושך את כל הארץ למשך שלוש שעות. |
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice saying, “Eli, Eli, lima sabachtani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have You abandoned me?”
| בשעה שלוש אחר־הצהריים זעק ישוע זעקת שבר:”אלי, אלי, למה שבקתני?“(כלומר:”אלי, אלי, למה עזבתני?“) |
47 So upon hearing it some of the bystanders said, “This man is calling Elijah.”
| אחדים מהנוכחים חשבו שהוא קורא לאליהו הנביא. |
48 Right then one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, put it on a reed and started to give Him a drink;
| אחד מהם רץ והביא ספוג טבול בחומץ, שם אותו בקצה מקל והושיטו לישוע כדי שישתה. |
49 but the rest said: “Don't! Let's see if Elijah comes to save Him.”
| אך יתר האנשים אמרו:”עזוב אותו. הבה נראה אם אליהו באמת יבוא להציל אותו!“ |
50 Then Jesus called out again with a great shout and dismissed His spirit.
| אז זעק ישוע שנית ונפח את נשמתו. |
51 And then, the veil of the temple was ripped in two from top to bottom! And the earth was shaken, and the rocks were split,
| באותו רגע הפרוכת שלפני קודש הקודשים בבית־המקדש נקרעה לשניים – מלמעלה עד למטה. האדמה רעדה, סלעים נבקעו, |
52 and the graves were opened. (And many bodies, of the saints who had fallen asleep, were raised;
| קברים נפתחו, וצדיקים רבים קמו לתחייה. |
53 and coming forth out of the graves after His resurrection, they entered the holy city and were made visible to many.)
| לאחר תחייתו של ישוע, אלה עזבו את בית־הקברות, נכנסו לירושלים והופיעו לפני אנשים רבים. |
54 Now when the centurion and those with him guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that happened they were scared stiff and said, “This Man really was the Son of God!”
| קצין רומאי והחיילים שהיו ליד הצלב, נבהלו מאוד מרעידת האדמה ומכל מה שקרה, וקראו:”איש זה באמת היה בן־אלוהים!“ |
55 Many women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were also there looking on from a distance;
| נשים רבות שבאו עם ישוע מהגליל, כדי לשרתו, עמדו מרחוק והתבוננו. |
56 among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
| ביניהן היו מרים המגדלית, מרים אמם של יעקב ויוסף, ואמם של יעקב ויוחנן (בני זבדי). |
57 Now at evening there appeared a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus.
| בערב ניגש אל פילטוס יוסף מן־הרמתיים, שהיה אדם עשיר ותלמיד של ישוע, וביקש את גופתו. פילטוס ציווה לשחרר את הגופה ולהעביר אותה ליוסף. |
58 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered that the body be given.
59 So taking the body Joseph wrapped it in clean linen cloth
| יוסף לקח את הגופה, עטף אותה בסדין לבן, |
60 and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. Then he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb and left.
| הניח אותה בתוך קבר חדש שחצב בשביל עצמו, סתם את הפתח באבן גדולה והלך לדרכו. |
61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the grave.
| מרים המגדלית ומרים השנייה ישבו במרחק והסתכלו. |
62 The next day, which is after the Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees went together to Pilate
| למחרת, בתום טקסי החג, באו ראשי הכוהנים והפרושים אל פילטוס |
63 saying: “Sir, we remember that that deceiver, while still alive, said, ‘After three days I am going to rise.’
| ואמרו:”אדוננו, השקרן הזה אמר פעם שלאחר שלושה ימים ישוב ויקום לתחייה. |
64 Therefore command that the grave be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him and say to the people, ‘He was raised from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”
| משום כך אנחנו מבקשים ממך לחתום את הקבר עד לאחר היום השלישי, כדי שתלמידיו לא יגנבו את הגופה ויפיצו את השמועה שהוא קם מן המתים. אחרת תהיה התרמית גרועה מזו הראשונה.“ |
65 So Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go make it as secure as you can!”
| פילטוס אמר להם:”יש לכם משמר שלכם, אתם יודעים איך לטפל בזה כמו שצריך“. |
66 So they went and secured the grave with the guard, having sealed the stone.
| וכך הם חתמו את הקבר והציבו שומרים. |
