Matthew 17
1 Now after six days Jesus takes Peter, James and his brother John and leads them up on a high mountain, in private.
அநந்தரம்’ ஷட்³தி³நேப்⁴ய: பரம்’ யீஸு²: பிதரம்’ யாகூப³ம்’ தத்ஸஹஜம்’ யோஹநஞ்ச க்³ரு’ஹ்லந் உச்சாத்³ரே ர்விவிக்தஸ்தா²நம் ஆக³த்ய தேஷாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம்’ ரூபமந்யத் த³தா⁴ர|
2 And He was transfigured before them and his face shone like the sun, while His clothes became as white as the light.
தேந ததா³ஸ்யம்’ தேஜஸ்வி, ததா³ப⁴ரணம் ஆலோகவத் பாண்ட³ரமப⁴வத்|
3 When wow, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with Him.
அந்யச்ச தேந ஸாகம்’ ஸம்’லபந்தௌ மூஸா ஏலியஸ்²ச தேப்⁴யோ த³ர்ஸ²நம்’ த³த³து: |
4 Then Peter reacted and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, let us make three booths: one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
ததா³நீம்’ பிதரோ யீஸு²ம்’ ஜகா³த³, ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴ ஸ்தி²திரத்ராஸ்மாகம்’ ஸு²பா⁴, யதி³ ப⁴வதாநுமந்யதே, தர்ஹி ப⁴வத³ர்த²மேகம்’ மூஸார்த²மேகம் ஏலியார்த²ஞ்சைகம் இதி த்ரீணி தூ³ஷ்யாணி நிர்ம்மம|
5 While he was still speaking a brilliant cloud overshadowed them, and then, a Voice came out of the cloud saying: “This is my beloved Son in whom I am always well pleased. Hear Him!”
ஏதத்கத²நகால ஏக உஜ்ஜவல: பயோத³ஸ்தேஷாமுபரி சா²யாம்’ க்ரு’தவாந், வாரிதா³த்³ ஏஷா நப⁴ஸீயா வாக்³ ப³பூ⁴வ, மமாயம்’ ப்ரிய: புத்ர: , அஸ்மிந் மம மஹாஸந்தோஷ ஏதஸ்ய வாக்யம்’ யூயம்’ நிஸா²மயத|
6 As the disciples heard it they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid.
கிந்து வாசமேதாம்’ ஸ்²ரு’ண்வந்தஏவ ஸி²ஷ்யா ம்ரு’ஸ²ம்’ ஸ²ங்கமாநா ந்யுப்³ஜா ந்யபதந்|
7 Then Jesus came and touched them and said, “Get up, don't be afraid.”
ததா³ யீஸு²ராக³த்ய தேஷாம்’ கா³த்ராணி ஸ்ப்ரு’ஸ²ந் உவாச, உத்திஷ்ட²த, மா பை⁴ஷ்ட|
8 So lifting up their eyes they saw no one but Jesus only.
ததா³நீம்’ நேத்ராண்யுந்மீல்ய யீஸு²ம்’ விநா கமபி ந த³த்³ரு’ஸு²: |
9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them saying, “Tell no one the vision until the Son of the Man is risen from the dead.”
தத: பரம் அத்³ரேரவரோஹணகாலே யீஸு²ஸ்தாந் இத்யாதி³தே³ஸ², மநுஜஸுதஸ்ய ம்ரு’தாநாம்’ மத்⁴யாது³த்தா²நம்’ யாவந்ந ஜாயதே, தாவத் யுஷ்மாபி⁴ரேதத்³த³ர்ஸ²நம்’ கஸ்மைசித³பி ந கத²யிதவ்யம்’|
10 So His disciples questioned Him saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
ததா³ ஸி²ஷ்யாஸ்தம்’ பப்ரச்சு²: , ப்ரத²மம் ஏலிய ஆயாஸ்யதீதி குத உபாத்⁴யாயைருச்யதே?
11 In answer Jesus said to them: “Elijah is indeed coming first, and he will restore all things.
ததோ யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யவாதீ³த், ஏலிய: ப்ராகே³த்ய ஸர்வ்வாணி ஸாத⁴யிஷ்யதீதி ஸத்யம்’,
12 But I say to you that ‘Elijah’ has come already, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wished. Thus also the Son of the Man is about to suffer at their hands.”
கிந்த்வஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் வச்மி, ஏலிய ஏத்ய க³த: , தே தமபரிசித்ய தஸ்மிந் யதே²ச்ச²ம்’ வ்யவஜஹு: ; மநுஜஸுதேநாபி தேஷாமந்திகே தாத்³ரு’க்³ து³: க²ம்’ போ⁴க்தவ்யம்’|
13 Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptizer.
ததா³நீம்’ ஸ மஜ்ஜயிதாரம்’ யோஹநமதி⁴ கதா²மேதாம்’ வ்யாஹ்ரு’தவாந், இத்த²ம்’ தச்சி²ஷ்யா பு³பு³தி⁴ரே|
14 As they came to the crowd a man approached Him and kneeling to Him said:
பஸ்²சாத் தேஷு ஜநநிவஹஸ்யாந்திகமாக³தேஷு கஸ்²சித் மநுஜஸ்தத³ந்திகமேத்ய ஜாநூநீ பாதயித்வா கதி²தவாந்,
15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, because he is moonstruck and suffers badly! For he often falls into the fire and often into the water.
ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴, மத்புத்ரம்’ ப்ரதி க்ரு’பாம்’ வித³தா⁴து, ஸோபஸ்மாராமயேந ப்⁴ரு’ஸ²ம்’ வ்யதி²த: ஸந் புந: புந ர்வஹ்நௌ முஹு ர்ஜலமத்⁴யே பததி|
16 So I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
தஸ்மாத்³ ப⁴வத: ஸி²ஷ்யாணாம்’ ஸமீபே தமாநயம்’ கிந்து தே தம்’ ஸ்வாஸ்த²ம்’ கர்த்தும்’ ந ஸ²க்தா: |
17 Then in answer Jesus said: “O faithless and perverse generation, how long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.”
ததா³ யீஸு²: கதி²தவாந் ரே அவிஸ்²வாஸிந: , ரே விபத²கா³மிந: , புந: கதிகாலாந் அஹம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸந்நிதௌ⁴ ஸ்தா²ஸ்யாமி? கதிகாலாந் வா யுஷ்மாந் ஸஹிஷ்யே? தமத்ர மமாந்திகமாநயத|
18 And Jesus rebuked the demon and it came out of him, and the boy was healed from that very hour.
பஸ்²சாத்³ யீஸு²நா தர்ஜதஏவ ஸ பூ⁴தஸ்தம்’ விஹாய க³தவாந், தத்³த³ண்ட³ஏவ ஸ பா³லகோ நிராமயோ(அ)பூ⁴த்|
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why were we not able to cast it out?”
தத: ஸி²ஷ்யா கு³ப்தம்’ யீஸு²முபாக³த்ய ப³பா⁴ஷிரே, குதோ வயம்’ தம்’ பூ⁴தம்’ த்யாஜயிதும்’ ந ஸ²க்தா: ?
20 So Jesus said to them: “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly I say to you, if you have faith like a mustard seed has, you (ye) will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
யீஸு²நா தே ப்ரோக்தா: , யுஷ்மாகமப்ரத்யயாத்;
21 However, this class does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
யுஷ்மாநஹம்’ தத்²யம்’ வச்மி யதி³ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸர்ஷபைகமாத்ரோபி விஸ்²வாஸோ ஜாயதே, தர்ஹி யுஷ்மாபி⁴ரஸ்மிந் ஸை²லே த்வமித: ஸ்தா²நாத் தத் ஸ்தா²நம்’ யாஹீதி ப்³ரூதே ஸ ததை³வ சலிஷ்யதி, யுஷ்மாகம்’ கிமப்யஸாத்⁴யஞ்ச கர்ம்ம ந ஸ்தா²ஸ்யாதி| கிந்து ப்ரார்த²நோபவாஸௌ விநைதாத்³ரு’ஸோ² பூ⁴தோ ந த்யாஜ்யேத|
22 While they were staying in Galilee Jesus said to them, “The Son of the Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men,
அபரம்’ தேஷாம்’ கா³லீல்ப்ரதே³ஸே² ப்⁴ரமணகாலே யீஸு²நா தே க³தி³தா: , மநுஜஸுதோ ஜநாநாம்’ கரேஷு ஸமர்பயிஷ்யதே தை ர்ஹநிஷ்யதே ச,
23 and they will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised.” And they were seriously grieved.
கிந்து த்ரு’தீயே(அ)ஹிந ம உத்தா²பிஷ்யதே, தேந தே ப்⁴ரு’ஸ²ம்’ து³: கி²தா ப³பூ⁴வ: |
24 When they entered Capernaum those who collected the temple tax approached Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?”
தத³நந்தரம்’ தேஷு கப²ர்நாஹூம்நக³ரமாக³தேஷு கரஸம்’க்³ராஹிண: பிதராந்திகமாக³த்ய பப்ரச்சு²: , யுஷ்மாகம்’ கு³ரு: கிம்’ மந்தி³ரார்த²ம்’ கரம்’ ந த³தா³தி? தத: பிதர: கதி²தவாந் த³தா³தி|
25 He says, “Yes.” So when they entered the house Jesus anticipated him saying: “Simon, what do you think? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or poll tax, from their sons or from strangers?”
ததஸ்தஸ்மிந் க்³ரு’ஹமத்⁴யமாக³தே தஸ்ய கதா²கத²நாத் பூர்வ்வமேவ யீஸு²ருவாச, ஹே ஸி²மோந், மேதி³ந்யா ராஜாந: ஸ்வஸ்வாபத்யேப்⁴ய: கிம்’ விதே³ஸி²ப்⁴ய: கேப்⁴ய: கரம்’ க்³ரு’ஹ்லந்தி? அத்ர த்வம்’ கிம்’ பு³த்⁴யஸே? தத: பிதர உக்தவாந், விதே³ஸி²ப்⁴ய: |
26 Peter says to Him, “From the strangers.” Jesus said to him: “Well then, the sons are free.
ததா³ யீஸு²ருக்தவாந், தர்ஹி ஸந்தாநா முக்தா: ஸந்தி|
27 But, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And opening its mouth you will find a ‘stater’ [a coin]; take that and give it to them for me and you.”
ததா²பி யதா²ஸ்மாபி⁴ஸ்தேஷாமந்தராயோ ந ஜந்யதே, தத்க்ரு’தே ஜலதே⁴ஸ்தீரம்’ க³த்வா வடி³ஸ²ம்’ க்ஷிப, தேநாதௌ³ யோ மீந உத்தா²ஸ்யதி, தம்’ க்⁴ரு’த்வா தந்முகே² மோசிதே தோலகைகம்’ ரூப்யம்’ ப்ராப்ஸ்யஸி, தத்³ க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா தவ மம ச க்ரு’தே தேப்⁴யோ தே³ஹி|
