Matthew 15
1 Then the scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem approached Jesus saying:
Entonces algunos fariseos y maestros religiosos de Jerusalén vinieron a Jesús y le preguntaron:
2 “Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands whenever they eat bread.”
“¿Por qué tus discípulos quebrantan la tradición de nuestros antepasados al no lavar sus manos antes de comer?”
3 So in answer He said to them: “Why do you even transgress the commandment of God through your tradition?
“¿Por qué ustedes quebrantan el mandamiento por causa de su tradición?” respondió Jesús.
4 For God commanded saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’
“Pues Dios dijo: ‘Honra a tu padre y a tu madre’, y ‘Cualquiera que maldice a su padre o a su madre debe ser condenado a muerte’.
5 But you say: ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever you might be profited by me is a gift to God”—
Pero ustedes dicen que si alguno le dice su padre o a su madre ‘todo lo que yo deba darles a ustedes ahora lo doy como ofrenda a Dios,’ entonces
6 then he must not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have nullified the commandment of God through your tradition.
no tiene que honrar a su padre. De esta manera ustedes han anulado la palabra de Dios por causa de sus tradiciones.
7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you saying:
¡Ustedes son unos hipócritas! Bien los describió Isaías cuando profetizó:
8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me.
‘Este pueblo dice que me honra pero en sus mentes no hay interés hacia mí.
9 But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
Su adoración hacia mi es inútil. Lo que enseñan son solo exigencias humanas’”.
10 Then summoning the crowd He said to them: “Hear and understand.
Entonces Jesús llamó a la multitud y les dijo: “Escuchen y entiendan esto:
11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles the man, but what comes out of the mouth—this defiles the man.”
No es lo que entra por la boca lo que los contamina, sino lo que sale de ella”.
12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do you know that upon hearing this saying the Pharisees were offended?”
Entonces los discípulos de Jesús vinieron a él y le dijeron: “Ciertamente te das cuenta de que los fariseos se ofendieron por lo que dijiste”.
13 But in answer He said: “Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.
“Toda planta que no haya sembrado mi Padre será arrancada”, respondió Jesús.
14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind; and if the blind guides the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
“Olvídense de ellos—ellos son guías ciegos. Si un hombre ciego guía a otro hombre ciego, los dos caerán en una zanja”.
15 Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”
Entonces Pedro dijo: “Por favor, dinos lo que quieres decir con esta ilustración”.
16 So Jesus said: “Are you also still without understanding?
“¿Aún no lo han entendido?” respondió Jesús.
17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is expelled into the sewer?
“¿No ven que todo lo que entra a la boca pasa por el estómago y luego sale del cuerpo como un desperdicio?
18 But the things coming out of the mouth actually come from the heart; those are the things that defile the man.
Pero lo que sale de la boca viene de la mente, y eso es lo que los contamina.
19 Because out of the heart proceed malignant thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
Porque lo que sale de la mente son pensamientos malos, asesinatos, adulterio, inmoralidad sexual, hurto, falso testimonio, y blasfemia,
20 These are the things that defile the man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”
y esas son las cosas que los contaminan a ustedes. Comer sin lavarse las manos no los contamina”.
21 Going out from there Jesus withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.
Jesús se fue de allí y se dirigió hacia la región de Tiro y Sidón.
22 And then, a Canaanite woman coming from those parts cried out to Him saying: “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demonized.”
Una mujer cananea de ese lugar vino gritando: “¡Señor, Hijo de David! ¡Por favor, ten misericordia de mi, pues mi hija sufre grandemente porque está poseída por un demonio!”
23 But He answered her not a word. So His disciples came and urged Him saying, “Send her away, because she is crying out after us.”
Pero Jesús no respondió en absoluto. Sus discípulos vinieron y le dijeron: “Dile que deje de seguirnos. ¡Sus gritos son muy molestos!”
24 But in answer He said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
“Yo fui enviado únicamente a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel”, le dijo Jesús a la mujer.
25 So she came and worshiped Him saying, “Lord, help me!”
Pero la mujer vino y se arrodilló delante de él, y le dijo: “¡Señor, por favor, ayúdame!”
26 But in answer He said, “It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
“No es correcto tomar el alimento de los hijos para dárselo a los perros”, le dijo Jesús.
27 So she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table.”
“Sí, Señor, pero aun así, a los perros se les deja comer las migajas que caen de la mesa de su amo”, respondió ella.
28 Then Jesus answered and said to her: “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
“Tu confías en mí grandemente”, le respondió Jesús. “¡Tu deseo está concedido!” Y su hija fue sanada de inmediato.
29 Moving on from there, Jesus went alongside the Sea of Galilee, and going up on the mountain He sat down there.
Entonces Jesús regresó, pasando por el mar de Galilea. Se fue hacia las montañas cercanas y allí se sentó.
30 And large crowds approached Him, having with them lame, blind, mute, maimed and many others, and they placed them at Jesus' feet, and He healed them.
Grandes multitudes vinieron a él, trayéndole a aquellos que estaban cojos, ciegos, paralíticos, mudos y también muchos otros que estaban enfermos. Los ponían en el piso, a sus pies, y él los sanaba.
31 So the crowds marveled—seeing mutes speaking, maimed made whole, lame walking, and blind seeing—and they kept glorifying the God of Israel.
La multitud estaba asombrada ante lo que ocurría: los sordos podían hablar, los paralíticos eran sanados, los cojos podían caminar, y los ciegos podían ver. Y alababan al Dios de Israel.
32 Then Jesus summoned His disciples and said: “I have compassion on the crowd, because they have already remained with me three days, and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”
Entonces Jesús llamó a sus discípulos y les dijo: “Siento pesar por estas personas, porque han estado conmigo por tres días y no tienen nada que comer. No quiero que se vayan con hambre, no sea que se desmayen por el camino”.
33 So His disciples say to Him, “Where could we get, in an uninhabited place, enough bread so as to satisfy such a great crowd?”
“¿Dónde podríamos encontrar suficiente pan en este desierto para alimentar a semejante multitud tan grande?” respondieron los discípulos.
34 Jesus says to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
“¿Cuántos panes tienen ustedes allí?” preguntó Jesús. “Siete, y unos cuantos peces pequeños”, respondieron ellos.
35 So He commanded the crowds to recline on the ground.
Jesús dijo a la multitud que se sentara en el suelo.
36 And taking the seven loaves and the fish, He gave thanks, broke and gave to His disciples, and the disciples to the crowd.
Entonces tomó los siete panes y los peces, y después de bendecir la comida, la partió en trozos y la dio a los discípulos, y los discípulos la daban a la multitud.
37 So they all ate and were filled; and they took up seven hampers full of the fragments that remained.
Todos comieron hasta que estuvieron saciados, y entonces recogieron las sobras, llenando así siete canastas.
38 Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
Cuatro mil hombres comieron de esta comida, sin contar a las mujeres y a los niños.
39 And having dismissed the crowds He got into the boat and went to the region of Magdala.
Entonces Jesús despidió a la multitud, subió a la barca, y se fue a la región de Magadán.
