John 11
1 Now a certain man, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha, was sick.
Agora um certo homem estava doente, Lázaro de Betânia, da aldeia de Maria e sua irmã, Marta.
2 (It was the Mary who [later] anointed the Lord with myrrh and wiped His feet with her hair whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
Era aquela Maria que havia ungido o Senhor com pomada e limpado seus pés com seus cabelos, cujo irmão Lázaro estava doente.
3 So the sisters sent to Him saying, “Lord, please, the one you love is sick!”
As irmãs, portanto, enviaram a ele, dizendo: “Senhor, eis que aquele por quem tu tens grande afeição está doente”.
4 Upon hearing it Jesus said, “This sickness is not unto death but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
Mas quando Jesus ouviu isso, disse: “Esta doença não é para a morte, mas para a glória de Deus, para que o Filho de Deus seja glorificado por ela”.
5 (Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.)
Agora Jesus amava Marta, e sua irmã, e Lázaro.
6 So, when He heard that he was sick He stayed where He was two more days!
Quando ouviu que estava doente, ficou dois dias no lugar onde estava.
7 Then after this He says to the disciples, “Let us go into Judea again.”
Depois disso, ele disse aos discípulos: “Vamos para a Judéia novamente”.
8 The disciples say to Him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just now trying to stone you, and you are going back there?”
Os discípulos lhe perguntaram: “Rabino, os judeus estavam apenas tentando apedrejá-lo. Você vai lá novamente”?
9 Jesus answered: “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks during the day he doesn't stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
Jesus respondeu: “Não há doze horas de luz do dia? Se um homem caminha no dia, ele não tropeça, porque vê a luz deste mundo.
10 But if anyone walks in the night he does stumble, because the light is not in him.”
Mas se um homem caminha de noite, ele tropeça, porque a luz não está dentro dele”.
11 Having said these things He says to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going in order to awaken him.”
Ele disse estas coisas, e depois disso, disse-lhes: “Nosso amigo Lázaro adormeceu, mas eu vou para que eu possa despertá-lo do sono”.
12 His disciples said to Him, “Lord, if he is sleeping he will get well.”
Portanto, os discípulos disseram: “Senhor, se ele adormeceu, ele se recuperará”.
13 But Jesus had spoken of his death, while they thought He was talking about natural sleep.
Agora Jesus havia falado de sua morte, mas eles pensavam que ele falava em descansar durante o sono.
14 So then Jesus said to them plainly: “Lazarus died.
Então Jesus lhes disse claramente: “Lázaro está morto”.
15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”
Fico feliz por vocês que eu não estava lá, para que vocês possam acreditar. No entanto, vamos até ele”.
16 Then Thomas (called Twin) said to his fellow disciples, “Let's us go too, so that we may die with Him.”
Tomé, portanto, que se chama Didymus, disse a seus companheiros discípulos: “Vamos também, para que possamos morrer com ele”.
17 So when Jesus had come, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
Então, quando Jesus chegou, descobriu que já havia estado no túmulo quatro dias.
18 (Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away,
Agora Betânia estava perto de Jerusalém, a cerca de quinze estádios de distância.
19 and many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.)
Muitos dos judeus tinham se unido às mulheres ao redor de Marta e Maria, para consolá-las a respeito de seu irmão.
20 Then Martha, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him; but Mary remained sitting at home.
Então, quando Marta soube que Jesus estava chegando, foi ao seu encontro, mas Maria ficou na casa.
21 Then Martha said to Jesus: “Lord, if You had been here my brother would not have died.
Por isso Marta disse a Jesus: “Senhor, se você estivesse aqui, meu irmão não teria morrido”.
22 But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”
Mesmo agora eu sei que tudo o que você pedir a Deus, Deus lhe dará”.
23 Jesus says to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
Jesus lhe disse: “Seu irmão ressuscitará”.
24 Martha says to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
Martha disse-lhe: “Eu sei que ele ressuscitará na ressurreição no último dia”.
25 Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes into me, though he may die, will live;
Jesus lhe disse: “Eu sou a ressurreição e a vida”. Aquele que acredita em mim ainda viverá, mesmo que morra”.
26 and everyone who both lives and believes into me will never ever die. Do you believe this?” (aiōn g165)
Quem vive e acredita em mim, jamais morrerá. Você acredita nisto”? (aiōn g165)
27 She says to Him, “Yes, Lord, I have come to believe that You are the Messiah, the Son of God, the One coming into the world.”
Ela disse a ele: “Sim, Senhor”. Eu vim a acreditar que você é o Cristo, o Filho de Deus, aquele que vem ao mundo”.
28 Having said these things she went and called her sister Mary, saying privately, “The Teacher is here and is calling you!”
Quando ela disse isto, foi embora e chamou Maria, sua irmã, secretamente, dizendo: “O Professor está aqui e está chamando você”.
29 Upon hearing it she gets up quickly and goes to Him.
Ao ouvir isso, ela se levantou rapidamente e foi até ele.
30 (Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was in the place where Martha met Him.
Agora Jesus ainda não tinha entrado na aldeia, mas estava no lugar onde Marta o encontrou.
31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, when they saw Mary get up quickly and go out, they followed her saying, “She is going to the tomb to weep there.”)
Então os judeus que estavam com ela em casa e a consolavam, quando viram Maria, que ela se levantou rapidamente e saiu, a seguir, dizendo: “Ela está indo para o túmulo para chorar lá”.
32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, upon seeing Him she fell at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here my brother would not have died!”
Portanto, quando Maria chegou onde Jesus estava e o viu, caiu a seus pés, dizendo-lhe: “Senhor, se tu estivesses aqui, meu irmão não teria morrido”.
33 So when Jesus saw her crying, and the Jews who had come with her crying, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.
Portanto, quando Jesus a viu chorar, e os judeus chorando quem veio com ela, ele gemeu no espírito e ficou perturbado,
34 And He said, “Where have you put him?” They say to Him, “Lord, come and see.”
e disse: “Onde você o colocou? Disseram-lhe: “Senhor, vem e vê”.
35 Jesus wept.
Jesus chorou.
36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!”
Portanto, os judeus disseram: “Veja quanto carinho ele tinha por ele”!
37 But some of them said, “Couldn't this man, who opened the eyes of the blind, have also kept this one from dying?”
Alguns deles disseram: “Não poderia este homem, que abriu os olhos dele que era cego, também ter impedido que este homem morresse?”
38 Then, groaning within Himself again, Jesus arrived at the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it.
Jesus, portanto, novamente gemendo em si mesmo, veio ao túmulo. Agora era uma caverna, e uma pedra estava contra ela.
39 Jesus says, “Remove the stone!” Martha, the sister of the deceased, says to Him, “Lord, he already stinks; it's been four days!”
Jesus disse: “Tirai a pedra”. Martha, a irmã dele que estava morta, disse-lhe: “Senhor, por esta altura já há um fedor, pois ele está morto há quatro dias”.
40 Jesus says to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?”
Jesus lhe disse: “Eu não lhe disse que se você acreditasse, você veria a glória de Deus”?
41 Then they took away the stone from where the deceased was lying. Jesus raised His eyes and said: “Father, I thank You that You heard me.
Então eles tiraram a pedra do lugar onde o morto estava deitado. Jesus levantou os olhos e disse: “Pai, eu te agradeço por me teres ouvido.
42 I know that You always hear me, but I spoke for the sake of the crowd standing around, so that they may believe that You sent me.”
Eu sei que você sempre me escuta, mas por causa da multidão ao redor eu disse isto, para que eles possam acreditar que você me enviou”.
43 Upon saying these things He shouted with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
Quando ele disse isto, gritou com voz alta: “Lázaro, sai daí!”.
44 And out the deceased came! Bound hand and foot with bandages, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus says to them, “Loose him and let him go.”
Aquele que estava morto saiu, amarrou a mão e o pé com envoltórios, e seu rosto foi enrolado com um pano. Jesus disse-lhes: “Libertai-o e deixai-o ir”.
45 So many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed into Him.
Portanto, muitos dos judeus que vieram a Maria e viram o que Jesus acreditava nele.
46 But some of them went off to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.
Mas alguns deles foram até os fariseus e lhes contaram as coisas que Jesus havia feito.
47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council and said: “What can we do? Because this man performs many miraculous signs;
Portanto, os chefes dos sacerdotes e os fariseus reuniram um conselho, e disseram: “O que estamos fazendo? Pois este homem faz muitos sinais.
48 if we let him go on like this everybody will believe into him; and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation!”
Se o deixarmos assim sozinho, todos acreditarão nele, e os romanos virão e tirarão tanto nosso lugar quanto nossa nação”.
49 But one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them: “You know nothing at all!
Mas um certo Caifás, sendo sumo sacerdote naquele ano, disse-lhes: “Vocês não sabem nada,
50 Nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die on behalf of the people, rather than the whole nation perish!”
nem consideram que é vantajoso para nós que um homem morra pelo povo, e que a nação inteira não pereça”.
51 (Now he did not say this on his own, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus was about to die on behalf of the nation;
Agora ele não disse isto de si mesmo, mas sendo sumo sacerdote naquele ano, profetizou que Jesus morreria pela nação,
52 and not only on behalf of the nation, but also to gather into one all the scattered children of God.)
e não somente pela nação, mas que ele também poderia reunir em um só os filhos de Deus que estão espalhados no exterior.
53 So from that day on they really plotted to kill Him.
Assim, a partir daquele dia, eles tomaram conselhos para que o pudessem condenar à morte.
54 Therefore Jesus no longer moved about openly among the Jews, but went away from there into the country near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim; and He stayed there with His disciples.
Portanto, Jesus não andou mais abertamente entre os judeus, mas partiu dali para o campo perto do deserto, para uma cidade chamada Efraim. Ele ficou lá com seus discípulos.
55 Now the Jewish Passover was near, and many from the country went up to Jerusalem before the Passover in order to purify themselves.
Agora a Páscoa dos judeus estava à mão. Muitos subiram do país para Jerusalém antes da Páscoa, para se purificarem.
56 So they were looking for Jesus, and as they stood in the temple they were saying to each other, “What do you think—that he won't come to the feast at all?”
Então procuraram por Jesus e falaram uns com os outros enquanto estavam no templo: “O que você acha - que ele não vem à festa de modo algum”?
57 Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had together issued an edict that if anyone knew where He was he should report it, so they could arrest Him.
Agora os chefes dos sacerdotes e os fariseus tinham ordenado que, se alguém soubesse onde ele estava, o informasse, para que eles o apreendessem.
